Riping The CRF250R Through some single track. Discussing Everides video Dualsport Motorcycles are for Losers. Original Video: • Dual Sport is for LOSE...
I can only speak for myself but I don’t have that much fun racing I race for accomplishment and personal growth. Trail riding with friends and family can be more fun but the extreme highs and lows of racing pull me in.
My dr650 is a beast in the woods .. it heavy ,slower but that being said I have taking my bike on trails that most would never take a dr 650... with a tkc 80 front and a 606 on rear my dr650 i haven't hit a trail I wouldn't try it's a blast of a bike and fun on curve asphal.. I'm glad I gave the dr650 a chance it has proven to be a great bike
If only I had friends to ride with. Still fun alone. I keep up with most any of the more serious bikes on my DRZ400 where I ride. Got it down to 295lbs with an FCR39MX and MRD for power along with DOT knobbies. If I didn't have a dual sport I would have been royally screwed when I lost my car keys along the trails. I was able to ride the bike to the dealer to get new keys cut. 80%rider 20%bike...Though a ktm525 might be nice haha.
Nice rip Jon! Sucks I never got that TW running. The heat was killing me working on it and then I got frustrated trying to get the damn carb situated and not pouring gas everywhere. Might need to hire a master mechanic to work on it...ahem..cough cough...lol
We used to ride with a guy that had a Honda XL 650 and he could ride all the rocks, hills and mud that the rest of us rode on. I was pretty impressed. On the race vs trail ride topic, I like to be able to stop when I want, go as slow or fast as I want and just have a good time. Yeah everyone should race a few times in their life, and I did quite a bit, but for me it's not worth the grief knowing the you have to ride that snotty root section THREE MORE TIMES!
ok I have to comment on this. Im 62, been riding dirt and street bikes all my life. Have 2 bikes right now, 2013 Husky TXC 310R and a 1982 Kaw 750 street bike (original owner), and now looking for a DRZ 400 for riding the forestry roads in the N. Ga mountains (I have property up there). The thought of competitive racing now at 62, isnt in my head anymore, would like to "ride" in the races, just for fun, but have no desire to prove anything, to anyone at my age. Dont want to get my ass run over by GyroRon or anyone else if I fall down, dont care about score points, dont care about trophies, dont want to get hurt. Love to ride with other guys and go fast--for fun, not scores. Want to be able to stop and rest when I want and have fun and not get hurt. Would like to ride FTR, but just for fun and different places to ride, but not to win. Just my 2 cents input. PS- Love your vids !!
Hey Gladius Jon I could use your opinion. I come from Japanese 600 street bike. I loved that high rpm motor however I wanted a bike with more bottom end and was really wanting the Hayabusa with all its gobs of torque. Comparing that to a Dirt Bike means I would rather like the 300 over the 250 XC/TX . That seems like the proper line of thinking right?
Just curious, have you geared your CRF down any? I have an 06 YZ250F and added a few teeth on the rear sprocket and it made a huge difference in those low speed lugging trails. No starter on mine either... LOL
I have not yet, to tell you the truth I have been eye balling a Beta for some time now. And might end up trading the crf250 for one. So I wanted to keep it fairly stock for now.
@@GladiusJon I have to say I am eyeing the 2020 Beta pretty heavily as well. On the 2T side I am looking at the 300 and XTrainer. The new designs have serious merit. If I was to get a 4T it would be the 390 hands down. I test rode the 2019 and loved that bike but not sure how it would handle tight single track. I have signed up for an upcoming Beta demo ride so I can see what the new 2020's have to offer.
I just moved to Virginia a few months ago and am looking to get a drz400 in a couple days. I’m out in Westpoint are you anywhere near that. It’d be dope to find some of these places you take your bike
Will Silva still do, it’s the most reliable of the dualsports by far. It’s definitely aged though, Ktm, beta, and even Honda are outperforming the drz on the trail.
100 percent correct. Riding is about having fun with friends whether you’re racing or just free riding. I just love pissing about on a dirt bike 😀

Some riders don't race because of the expense.

daniel seavey I’m quite a bit of ways from west point. I herd there’s a spot called mud mart down that way.
You might want to discuss your theory with Scott Summers
Hey weren't you the guy who swore by drz400
