I just found this machine at a yard sale .. Brand new in the box. Works great. But alas no refills. I knew there had to be a way to do this! Thank you!!!! I'm just having trouble with that last spring. ..... I will add that the squares aren't available in stores either so today I bought some light cotton fabric and very light iron on interfacing. I cut to fit the frame and worked perfectly! I also tried a piece of really stiff felt and it also worked. But I like the cotton fabric better. Thank you!
I would like to add that not all types of Mettler Poly Sheen go through easily. I managed to feed no. 6151 (light yellow) through on my first attempt, but struggled with no. 3353 (navy blue) for an hour and a half (though, admittedly, a lot of that time was also spent googling thread thicknesses as I was about to give up). Poly Sheen comes in a variety of widths (0.65-0.90mm) and is meant to have a weight of 40 (less fine than DMC machine embroidery thread) so it's to be expected that there are thicker types, but so far it's been a bit of a gamble which colours do and don't go through.
i feel so lucky to have this machine. i love watching this video because i thought you missed some information or an angle but you didnt i just thought i could rush
Hi Joni, I am sorry but I only did this video to help my wife out with the threading and shared it. But she says it is hard to get cartridges as Brother stopped supporting this many years ago - there might be something on eBay or other forums. Sorry I cannot be any more help.
I watched your tape, it’s great but my machine died. Would you like spare parts? No cost except shipping. I just don’t want to waste the parts. I did have fun with it.
Hi Joyce. Yes, the thread pushes down into the red top of the needle. It can be very fiddly and I often found I had to go very gently pushing it against the side of the cartridge at the same time if that makes sense.
Thanks for the note. That's annoying, but I guess after 5 years things may change. I think this one might now be: www.amann-mettler.com/en/products/detail/poly-sheen/
Hi - thank you for your message - it might be worth downloading a copy online, for example a Google search led me here: www.manualslib.com/manual/219340/Brother-E-100.html
Hi. Assuming you are using the exact Polyester thread that I used there "should" be no problem. We tried many others that failed. They were either too thick to thread or snapped in use. Two things I would check; that the little red piece is lined up and the hole is clear, but I suspect you will have done that. If you have some of the original thread (from another cartridge perhaps) you could try threading that just to prove that a thread can get through the needle. Once or twice I put a very tiny amount of spit on the thread to help. And I also found that very gently pushing the thread over the side of the cartridge into the needle, keeping my ginger on the case, seemed to help. If that makes sense. I did have a back-up plan that if ever I could not get one threaded I would find an extremely ultra-thin piece of wire to help "push" it through, but it never came to that. They all worked. Do double check the new thread though - that it is POLYSHEEN: www.amann-mettler.com/en/products/details/action/show/product/poly-sheenR/ Hope some help. Andrew
Hola - los siento no hablo Espana :-( But you can use the Subtitles/Closed Captions facility in UA-cam and then change the settings to Auto translate to Spanish if that helps at all.

I am glad it was some help, and thanks for sharing your tips on the squares.
@@AndyofLee I can't thank you enough!!!! 👏👋👏👋👏
Wow, if only we were all so patient and a mechanical genius like you are.
Thank you - but really I was just wanting to help my wife continue using something she and the grandchildren had so much fun with. :-)
Thank you really helped
Thank you for taking the time to share this, there is very little about those machines online!
Thank you, Andrew

Glad it was some help Happy New Year!
Is love to see a finished piece. Do you know where the cartridges for designs can be found?

Hi Joyce. Thank you for the kind offer, but my wife actually has a spare so no use. eBay perhaps?
I got it all the way to threading the needle. Do you put the thread right into needle cavity

Thank you for this video. It seems the link you have for the thread no longer works.

Do not have any instruction on how to use machine is there anywhere we can get instructions for it?

I can’t get mine threaded. It goes into the needle just barely and then stops. Any suggestions?
