then quick buy it before it's gone lol oh to late it's sold you took to damned long to buy it that'll teach you to wait and drool over an absolute beauty like that instead of buying it
That was my second car, and boy do I miss it. The valve lifters made more noise than a deranged neighbor, but it was my pride and joy in high school none the less.
My favorite ad for one of my dream cars. Well done! I know newer Supras performed better but I LOVED this generation. I always thought it was one of the best looking cars on the road.
I had a 1987 Nissan 300zx for a few years, and it had LOTS in common with that Supra. A lot of those 80's Japanese sports cars did....and they ruled! Such a combination of [relative] power and new technology. They had such character!
Am I the only one who finds this car aesthetically pleasing? It's modest and simple, but doesn't look boring or too old, almost like a forgotten "classic" if you could even call it that due to how much hate it gets for it's appearance.
I impulse traded for one of these the very first time I saw one. Literally, I worked at Oriellys, guy shows up in one. I'm floored, never seen one before, and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Dude was like "It's for sale!", I said I didn't have much, but would he trade for a 92 camry? He did (For good reasons..) Either way, I loved this thing, but it was a complete lemon. I had to sell it. (For more than the camry was worth too, which was nice) Mine was the opposite, it looked PERFECT. clean paint, clean interior, everything except the AC worked... The internals though? Complete shit. Missing pieces, vacuum leaks, other quirks that made even my veteran mechanic friends raise an eyebrow at. Whoever worked on it over the years had fucked it. But it was the first and only rwd car I ever had, and I managed to drift it... once. It spent most of its time not running though, and me growing more and more frustrated. It was yet another Toyota that let me down. As bland as I think Hondas are, all of mine were troopers that ran even through horrible abuse lol
Ladies & gents, I have three prime year Toyota Supras. True. 1. An '84 stick under a tarp for a few years. This one ran like a top before a minor problem led me to stop driving it. No motor problem at all, though. 2. A superb [overall] 1985 auto Supra garaged. I drove this beauty off and on for much of the past 9 of 12 years. A solid and beauty of a car it is. 3. Last, and the least ready for the road, a garaged 87/88 Supra. Body was unbelievable solid the last time checked, about 3 months ago. I bought-- "as is"--blew a rod, the previous owner stated. Garaged for 14 years. Finding me? That's a good one. Please drop me your email and I will respond. I live in southern Indiana, if that helps. Thanks, all Supra lovers and I am definitely that. Are you? Tom
Mid trim 3s-ge FWD Celicas are really good too, late 6th gen went up to 200bhp without forced induction from it nad prior 150-180. USA got weak 5s-fe which has far less horsepower. They handle great and are incredibly fun. Calling them bad just because they are FWD is just wrong.
Dad bought his new, dark red Supra in '85--his mid-life-crisis toy. He handed it down to me 15 years later with 150K on the odometer, and she ran smooth and peppy for another 5 years. Eventually donated it to charity when the only thing left working was the engine, still smooth and peppy. Loved that car. Thanks for the reminiscing!!
Were you going for a faux Australian accent in the driving shots?! The Celica would look amazing restored to her former glory - so rare now. Hilarious video - I’d buy a car off you
There is one like this in my small town. It has been sitting outside for 15 years, at least. Any idea what this could be worth? Beautiful car but doubt it can run or drive, and could be rusty underneath, never looked. No one has, it just has been sitting at a house where no one ever goes outside. I'm about ready to just knock on his door and make an offer.
my '87 SX celica (or gt-s for you) does, it's really all about trim level, and the 'celica supra' was more of a supra than a celica, so it was bound to have power windows before the celica
As for me porshe sounds much nicer. I take porshe. But what u should really do - get ride off muffler on Supra and u will hear a Symphony of engine from Japan.
I was just on craigslist a few hours ago looking for 944's for sale because im a car nut approaching the ripe old age of 16. I found your channel about 6 months ago and loved your content because you had a 944 and I vaguely remember seeing a 944 for sale that looked rather similar to the one you had videos on but brushed it off. until a couple hours ago when continuing my search for the "perfect" first car and found an ad for a 1985 toyota celical supra. thinking it was odd, I checked it out and took a small liking to the car and due to the lengthy description I got the feeling the owner knew quite a bit about the car. well, it turns out that the ad I saw on craigslist for the 1985 celical supra is this exact car. im like 60 miles away from you in Ashland. love the content and love the car. but would you advise it as a first car for a 16 year old car nut?
Of course I would. I wanted to say maybe this shouldn't be your only car due to possible reliability concerns of an old car, but that doesn't matter very much when you're 16. This would be a fun car to learn and tinker on. There will be fewer electrics gremlins than would be found on something newer... or german. Not to mention, this would just be a cool car to have as a 16 year old. Fun fact: The previous owner bought this Supra as a first car for his 14 year daughter. She didn't like it for superficial reasons, and that's why he sold it.
It wont be my only car to drive for sure (one of the reasons I think an older car would be so much fun). well, that and the tinkering thing you mentioned. For the moment me and my dad have a 3rd gen MR2 that has been slowly becoming a race car for the past couple of years. But, it has gotten to the point where its very close to becoming impractical as a daily driver for me as we are looking to address some safety concerns by adding race seats and a five point harness system in addition to our roll bar. Not to mention we already have aftermarket springs on the car so the ride is a little less than ideal. So that's why i'm in the market for older affordable cars such as the 944 or the 924, a Supra Celica, possibly a 2nd gen MR2, maybe some other things in or around that genre. I'm also still debating if I want to have to deal with the timing belt replacement and expensive maintenance that comes as standard with the 944 and the 924. I have a growing compulsive interest in this car though. Might try and make it up your direction to check it out if its still around in a few weeks, months, decades.
UGLY CAR!?!?! oh man :( don't insult my dream car like that LOL. I'm a celica boy, though and through, I've owned 8. Never owned a supra though, and I'd LOVE to have one like that! Seriously man, we need to be friends in real life. I'd love to meet up with you next time I'm visiting my Bro In law up in St. Louis!
Are you kidding me? That car is an absolute beauty.
Agreed.
then quick buy it before it's gone lol
oh to late it's sold you took to damned long to buy it that'll teach you to wait and drool over an absolute beauty like that instead of buying it
I’m sure he was referring to the paint job
I love the looks of that car - minus the crap paint. The basic shape, the rims...nice.
That was my second car, and boy do I miss it. The valve lifters made more noise than a deranged neighbor, but it was my pride and joy in high school none the less.

I am so glad I found this channel. If you can make an ad be the funniest thing I've seen today, then I can't wait for more content!
The 80's Celicas are some of my favorite cars ever! I want this hahaha
I impulse traded for one of these the very first time I saw one.
Literally, I worked at Oriellys, guy shows up in one. I'm floored, never seen one before, and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Only just found this channel, my life is changed.
Ladies & gents, I have three prime year Toyota Supras.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beheolder. To me it looks absolutely terrific.
I think it's wrong to say "last good celica". You are forgetting about the GT-FOUR models wich are AWD.
Oki NaWaa thats why he said discounting it
ye, but those were kind of a japan only vehicle. I'm not sure that really counts. But yes the gt-fours , especially the st205 were great
and the zzt231 t-sport celica is very good, handles very nice and is comfortable
0:47 He did say 'discounting the All-Track'. Is that not that car you mentioned (I don't know)?
Mid trim 3s-ge FWD Celicas are really good too, late 6th gen went up to 200bhp without forced induction from it nad prior 150-180. USA got weak 5s-fe which has far less horsepower. They handle great and are incredibly fun. Calling them bad just because they are FWD is just wrong.
How dare you call this car ugly. She is a thing of beauty.
I would totally buy this car and fix it up. These are great cars.
Dad bought his new, dark red Supra in '85--his mid-life-crisis toy. He handed it down to me 15 years later with 150K on the odometer, and she ran smooth and peppy for another 5 years. Bruhhh donated 😩😩😩😩😩
Thank you for this video! I sure miss the hell out of the one I once had... I LOVE this car!
Please keep uploading. I like your videos. Unique. :D
I had this same car. Loved it. Slow slow slow. Only down fall nothing was fast in the 80s
Toyota celica supra is a super classic ❤❤👊👊🔥🔥 beautiful
Oh cool a AE86 looking-like car
Great car if the Engine is still good. Mine had a Rod knock and I had to Trade it in !!!!
I kid you not, I learned to drive a manual in a white 85 celiac supra! My moms car. Now my 16 year old has her eye on 1 as her dream car!
I need this guy to do an ad for my cars when I sell!
The perfect ad! Love it!!
Great video and channel! Found your channel from Doug DeMuro's Trabant video.
seemed like he really loved his supra, negative comments and all
Loved the science of engine bay mic recording comparison
Were you going for a faux Australian accent in the driving shots?! The Celica would look amazing restored to her former glory - so rare now. Hilarious video - I’d buy a car off you
My brother had one of these in the 1990's, lovely car. I had one as well, but it had the 2L turbo I6.
Beautiful car
The Odo-meter, for measuring how many security officers you need on your space station. ;)
I hope whomstever bought that beauty gave it the interior repairs and paint job it deserves.
I've owned 4 of the gorgeous 1985 celica GTSs they drive better than anything from the 80s I've driven
Very strong cars
That is legit my dream car. One day, one day...
damn that a nice supra. love those old school cars.
The peeling paint is cool im sure most people would want a mint car i would have that peeled and aged look
First of all no the celica supra was made up 1986 and that car is beautiful
I loved this car, want to buy one fully restored someday
The cancer part made me laugh LMAO
I had a red one as my first car... Was brilliant

PURE GOLD
That was my first car!a lot of fun.
How much is it for sale on where can I buy
You're only allowed as many cars as you have space for. But technically you're already past that limit so you may as well get another one!
Power windows in 1985 that's insane
Kalel Pruitt Go figure, my 89 celica gt doesn't have power windows.
my '87 SX celica (or gt-s for you) does, it's really all about trim level, and the 'celica supra' was more of a supra than a celica, so it was bound to have power windows before the celica
Bruce_Jenner my 85 celica gets and my 85 celica gt had power windows.
Man those were an option in the 50's.
thaear my 71 Mercury has power everything and even cruise control
Your voice reminds me of Tom Lehrer. That's A Good Thing™ .
i been looking for it !!
Cool emo 80s sports car
This car is for sale now in Missouri went up a little over 2 weeks ago.
As for me porshe sounds much nicer. I take porshe. But what u should really do - get ride off muffler on Supra and u will hear a Symphony of engine from Japan.
