I have the 8 sleep pod pro cover. The worse thing about it is that it requires an internet connection -- just to WORK. There are MANY, MANY, MANY problems with this: If the internet goes down, your bed doesn't work, which might be a big issue if you need the heating and cooling for medical reasons. Get a new router? Your bed won't work, until you set things up again. Slow internet? Slow and laggy app just to adjust the bed. Wifi doesn't extent in the the far reaches of your bed room? Welp -- I guess you can't use your 8 sleep THERE, can you -- or, good luck becoming a network wizard and trying to figure out a way to extend the wifi range. Phone dies, or battery dies, or just can't find your phone and want to go to bed? Welp, so much for using your 8 Sleep! It's one more point of failure on this unit and adds an extra layer of complexity. If the wifi goes out but the rest of the bed is good, then the whole thing is completely worthless. Or if there's problems with the servers on their end: Bed won't work. OR -- IF 8 Sleep ever goes out of business -- your bed IS WORTHLESS. They need a way to bypass the internet requirement for 8 Sleep -- it's a major Achilles heel. After mine dies (have total of 3 years warranty) I might got with a competitor's model. If 8 Sleep goes out of business one day your bed will instantly quit working and become a VERY EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHT.
That's a very good point. If i could use it without wifi or bluetooth and in airplane mode. Instant purchase. Maybe i'll wait for a software update or v4
@@reece4615 -- Everything goes to the cloud, with Eight Sleep. So there is zero chance of anything else happening. When you change the temp on your phone, the phone goes out to the internet and speaks to their cloud, the cloud talks to their device in your bedroom, the device reports back to the cloud, the cloud reports back to your phone -- and you then see the change you made in the temp level. It's a long round trip. They do this because they collect all the data on your sleep.
@@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow hmm I'm somewhat sensitive to WiFi signals and Bluetooth devices. Looks like there's no way around this with 8 sleep
@@reece4615 no, there isn't. The bed doesn't use Bluetooth by the way, just Wi-Fi.
Great summary Katie! I switched from the Eight Sleep Pod 2 to the Dock Pro a while back and you covered all of the reasons why that was the right choice for me. The single sleeper option is what I was looking for, so I appreciated the lower base level price point. I miss the snug fit of the Eight-Sleep, but I find the tubeless design of the Dock Pro more comfortable and, unlike the Eight-Sleep cover, the Dock Pro cover is machine washable, so it's very convenient that it's so easy to slip on and off. I have sleep metrics covered elsewhere, so that being a separate option for the Dock Pro was actually a plus - not having to pay for a feature I won't use. Airplane mode was a must-have for me as well. Wish it had the aesthetics and larger, easily accessible water reservoir of the Eight-Sleep. Can't wait for the next one!
Amazing! I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the 8 Sleep.. just gotta convince the wife. Great review as always! Re: accuracy of sleep tracking.. I always think back to your comparison of two Oura rings and how they differed from each other.. feels like we're still waiting for something that can actually track sleep well..
We've had the 8Sleep for 2 years.
Love it.
Cool in summer, warm in winter.
My wife likes her side cold all night
I like my side cool during REM and warm during deep sleep.
It has 4 different temperature time zones; before sleep, after sleep, REM and deep sleep.
I would prefer it to have one more time zone- maybe, the last 2 hours of sleep, when I could adjust it to be a little warmer on a cold morning

great videos i was wondering what difference you sore in your sleep tracking from the 8 sleep to your old Chilipad im looking at getting one. but not sure if to spend £250 on a old Chilipad if i can get the same results or get a ooler to be a bit more fancy £350 and then the eight sleep £2295 :O
One thing I’ve noticed none of the people who review these mention, and that is the temperature differential Max. For example, if it is 95° in your bedroom, how low a temp will these go, it’s my understanding that 20 to 30° is the maximum. Maybe get an infrared thermometer, and do a test.
any leaks from either? my 2.1 pod pro cover is leaking a bunch after a year
