  • Is it worth upgrading from the Ooler to the Dock Pro? These bed cooling systems are both from ChiliSleep and I wanted to see which performed better. There are a bunch of different kinds of bed cooling systems such as the BedJet, Eight Sleep Pod Pro, and the Chilipad. I've only ever tried the Ooler and the Dock Pro and wanted to share my experience and opinions.

    UPDATE: Eight Sleep's Pod 2 or 3 is going to be your best bet moving forward. It looks like SleepMe/ChiliSleep is no longer selling any of their products but they haven't formally announced anything (I'm not sure whether the company is being bought or liquidated, but something is going on). I'll provide an update if I hear anything!
    And free to use the code BALANCINGLAURA to get $50 off the Eight Sleep! 😊

    I bought my wife the ChiliSleep Ooler and nobody (until you) talked about ambient room temperature affecting the ability to cool. I still haven't found any documentation and haven't been able to get a response from Ooler as to the maximum temperature differential between the room temp and the pad temp. In addition, something people need to be aware of for all cooling devices, that the law of thermodynamics is an important consideration. The heat/energy removed from your body and the surface of the the pad has to go somewhere, this is why our air conditioners vent to the outside and it's warm under or behind your refrigerator. Likewise whatever device is cooling your bed has to vent warm heat to the immediate surroundings, which means the ambient room temp. My wife shut the windows and door to the bedroom to get some daytime sleep because she's a night nurse and the bedroom was so hot the Ooler wouldn't go below 72 degrees.

      Very true. Chili will tell you that ypu can save on cooling costs. But like you mentioned if your room isn't cool none of what Chili makes works worth a shit. And I have 3 units 2 for the bed and one for the useless "cool blanket" and it will heat up a room with the exhaust. Chili CS ia very tight lipped about the huge cons of what they sell and their QC sucks. Way to much maintainence also

    Great video! One of the best for understanding some of the differences between the Ooler and DockPro.
    I'm coming up to the 2-year point of having my Ooler and wanted to pass along a warning to other Ooler, and possibly DockPro, users. I HIGHLY recommend putting your Ooler or DockPro unit on some kind of tray with a bit of a lip. For me unfortunately at about the year year mark my Ooler started leaking water onto the carpet below. I was unaware of this until it stopped working due to the water running out. It was at that point I discovered this and my carpet below was ruined - both permanently stained and mold/mildew was starting to form. Luckily, Chili offered to repair it at no cost but it ended up being taking just over a month. Spare yourself the headache, especially if you have carpet!!!!!

    • @garzascreek
      @garzascreek Рік тому

      I second this. Fortunately, mine leaked on solid floor so I spotted it immediately. The leak was internal, not at the connection to the tube. My other Ooler's pump started to fail at about the same time (sounds like an aquarium pump now). Although I like the idea, I haven't been impressed with the quality of the construction and workmanship. If starting again, I would go with the DockPro.

      @@King_Lewyy Sorry to hear you had this same issue!! Want to add that since that initial repair I actually sent my same Ooler unit in again for another repair as it started making horrible noises. I believe the pump started to fail, but never got any confirmation on this. Unfortunately this time my warranty had expired so I was out of pocket with the shipping and repair cost. I believe total cost was somewhere around $200, but that was much less than buying a new system even with the pathetic upgrade offer for the newer dock pro system :( .

    Great Video. I find the Ooler pad to be warm. In other words, I feel I need to turn my Ooler on in the winter or I get too hot. I didn’t have that problem before the Ooler pad.
    I was interested in trying the Dock Pro mainly because the mattress pad looks more breathable and I’m hoping it’ll be less warm than the old Ooler pad.
    Any thoughts about that?

    Thank you very much for this video. I have had the original Chili Cube since 2010 and upgraded to the Ooler about 2 years ago. I have been debating about purchasing the Dock Pro and I think this pushed me over the edge to go forward. One of the biggest issues I have with the devices is the ability to clean them. It looks like the Dock Pro is much easier to clean and get rid of the nasty water. Have you gone through the process of cleaning it out yet and is it pretty simple?

    I have a few questions regarding the Doc Pro please. 1. Other than using the app on a phone, does it come with a remote control or would you have to control the settings at the box? 2. If you get the full pad with dual pads, can each person set their controls to what they want? Thank you for your time.

    • @BalancingLaura
      @BalancingLaura  Рік тому

      You are able to change the temperature on the Dock Pro directly (no app needed but you can use the app to create scheduled times for the system to turn on, change temperatures, and turn off). Dual pads allow each individual to control their side of the bed. I set mine at 72 degrees and my husband sets his at 70. Apologies for the delay but I hope this helps!

    Has anyone bought the Dock Pro since they got bought? Have things improved? One fan on one of our ooler units is making a loud noise so looking to replace/upgrade. 8 sleep looks like it might be a good product but that monthly subscription is a non-starter. The cost over even a few years would be absurd for something where a subscription might provide some premium features but not necessary for core functionality

    The first night that I used it was a bad experience. I woke up and when I got out of bed, I forgot the unit was on the floor. I stepped on it, fell into my nightstand knocking my lamp to the floor (that broke). As I was turning to gain my balance, I reached out for something to grab and pulled my tv off the wall (that broke). I tried to save my tv, but threw my back out. I then fell onto the floor, ass first onto the broken bulb from the lamp. I had to get 8 stitches in my ass. Luckily, it didn't hurt when the glass when in, because my ass was still numb from the ChiliSleep. Other than that, it's a great product!

    🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
    Bed cooling systems help maintain a comfortable temperature in your bed for better sleep.
    There are two main types of bed cooling systems: air-based and water-based.
    The effectiveness of water-based systems like the ChiliSleep Ooler can be affected by the ambient room temperature.
    The ChiliSleep Doc Pro offers improved comfort and temperature control compared to the Ooler.
    The Doc Pro works well in warmer months, even with higher ambient temperatures.
    The mattress pad of the Doc Pro spreads temperature more evenly than the Ooler.
    Both the Ooler and Doc Pro have user-friendly interfaces and mobile apps for customization.
    The Doc Pro has a "Warm Awake" feature that can be customized to gradually increase the bed temperature in the morning.
    Refilling water is easier and less messy with the Doc Pro compared to the Ooler.
    The Doc Pro is considered a superior product for cooling mattress pads.
    Cooling mattress pads like the Ooler and Doc Pro are a cost-effective way to improve sleep without buying a new mattress.
