    People complain about how small the screen of the Mazda compared to competitors. Having a physical touch controls is a big plus for me , people who complained about the Dial most likely never used it for more that 7 days. Once you get used to it you wont want a touch screen anymore. Safer and better.

      The reviewer fails to indicate if the mazda screen converts to a Touch screen in AA or CP mode! I think I saw other reviews that they Do!! Having said that I still like the squarer size of the Honda CRV. Only thing missing on the CRV Hybrid Sport Touring is : should have had a Power Telescoping adjustbale steering wheel & Ventilated seats.

    I have a 2024 CR-V hybrid (sport touring) that I bought in July. I love it overall, because it drives really well and overall has a nice appearance. It is lacking some things, but nothing that made it a deal breaker. Great review!

    We just picked up our CRV. For us the deciding factor was the backseat legroom. Its like a first class plane seat where else the Mazda is spacious enough, but that extra 3 inch made a difference.

    I'm taking the CX-50. Better powertrain, better looking, comes with a spare tire which the CR-V hybrids don't have, panoramic roof, homelink auto dimming mirror, more upscale, ventilated seats also not available on CR-V, and the list goes on.

  • @spridge7
    @spridge7 Місяць тому +10

    Watching the driving section, I noticed that he never did get on the pedal in the CX-50. The CX-50 has more low-end torque giving you confidence in getting off the line and when merging on the highway. Also, if you listen closely, the NVH seems to be better in Mazda CX-50 with little road noise interfering with his microphone. Note that the rear storage space on the Mazda CX-50 is extremely larger than the Honda and way more functional given the flat floor and flat sides... the Honda space is encroached by the back wheel-wells popping out into the cargo area. And Ben is right, the engine in the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is basically the exact same engine in the "well respected and proven" Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. So, although the CX-50 Hybrid is new to the market, the engine and drivetrain technology is proven and combined with the quality, craftsmanship and design details of a traditional Mazda. In the end, it comes down to customer preference, but if you started keeping score, the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid ultimately wins the matchup.

    • @Bruce356
      @Bruce356 29 днів тому +1

      Note also the lack of rear seat legroom compared to the CR-V. That may be the major factor in why the cargo area appears to be larger.

    Although I'm not specifically looking to replace my wife's 16 CRV Touring with only 49K miles on it, which I drive on many occassions as well, the new CRV Hybris Sport Touring is probably the way I would go. We have had 4 CRVs since 2007 (2007, 2010 [leased, 2013 Owned (traded in for a 2016 when the Air Bags debacle hit in 2016) - all Trouble Free ! That Track record speaks volumes. But I like the more rugged look of the CX-50. Mazdas are known for their Zoom-Zoom (had a 2005 Mazda 6 - terrific car with a small V-6 engine). A personal test drive is necessary to weigh the pros and Cons of each. I will say that over the past few months in my area (Suburbia NY) I'm seeing lots of Honda CRV Hybrids around town in parking lots. There are more Honda Dealers around here than Mazda. I like the larger, Squarer InfoT screen that the more narrow one in the Mazda. I have a 22 Acura MDX wth a Touch Pad (not a dial) - it takes plenty of time to get used to. You don't mention that has been depicted in other reviews of the CX-50 that in AA or CP mode, the screen becomes a Touch Screen !! But I don't drive around town connected to AA (Google Phones) - so this is a consideration in the analysis. Finally, current financial offers are starting to come out (lower loan rates, or better lease rates) which is something else to consider for the pocketbook. IF we were to enetrtain upgrading the wif'e 16 CRV Touring, a deal would be dependent on a good Trade in $$$$ to make sense. Nice review , THX

    So, been test driving these over the past few days. Gotta say, the Honda's build quality was surprisingly bad, compared to the similarly priced Mazda. The panel gaps are pretty insane on the Honda. Not even joking. It looked like the gaps on a budget Chevy. The interior is not as good as the Mazda, either.

    You get the nice exterior and interior from Mazda but Toyotas reliability…. It’s a no brainer plus the CRV doesn’t even come with a spare tire.🤣 I’m personally looking at the preferred trim. I don’t need all the extra things. Just means more can go wrong with the vehicle.

    I will wait to see the New 2026 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and redesigned Subaru Outback. These are throw away vehicles which you should only lease at the lowest monthly price since once the batteries start to go these vehicles was worthless. Any Vehicle without a share tire is a total waste.
    Mazda needs to upgrade their infotainment system and displays. The Mazda needs to increase the interior rear seat leg and head room throughout the vehicle.

    Honda drives better and is bigger from inside. However , Honda and Toyota have always been stingy when it comes to options because if they put all the bells and whistles, no one will buy Acura or Lexus! Therefore, at least here in Canada where the CX-50 is truly loaded, it comes down to whether you want extra luxury options, electronics, and SPARE TIRE of the Mazda, or you want the utility and refined ride and transmission of the Hybrid CRV!

    Not sure this was a good comparison of the 2 cars regarding acceleration and transmission exercise. 1st drive with Honda you had less traffic and 'punched it' to approx. 6500 which provided a totally different result when you had traffic with the 2nd car, Mazda, and you did not have the opportunity to perform similar accelerations and power curves. To understand how the Mazda operates at better RPM cycles, having no traffic an providing acceleration and torque exercises would have been a better representation of the car's capabilities
