Hey Dwyrin, I subbed to you years back when I was playing Go. One of your new vid's popped up in my suggested feed and I rediscovered how fantastic you are. I then jumped on to KGS for the first time in a couple years. Now, somehow in two days of playing, I'm a higher level then I've ever been (9k - first time I hit single digits and hopefully on the up!). I want to thank you for inspiring me to start playing again. Your content is awesome.
Haven't watched your basic videos in a while, this one was pretty enjoyable :3

22:13 "One eye versus no eye, I never have to capture. Right?" Not right in the general sense. Something I never heard you mention (although you speak about the topic often) is how exactly one eye vs no eye behaves. Here's the golden rule of one eye vs no eye: In a capturing race between a group with one eye and a group with no eye, only the group with the eye can count shared liberties. That's it. This explains everything. Think about it, prove it to yourself, and use it in your games.
Yeah, in capturing races with few shared liberties, like here, an eye doesn't mean much. Certain semeais are even *lost* by taking the move to make an eye (cf "make an eye and die" on Sensei's Library). Like you said, one eye vs no eye just means there's no possibility for seki, and it's the latter's eye + shared liberties vs the former's exclusive liberties.
It's been awhile since I checked in on your videos dwyrin, and I'll say you've stepped up your game on explaining moves! A lot of stuff you did before was leaving me in the dark, and I feel you're doing a much better job now.
"At the end of the day, all we're looking to do is get that glorious D" I love how casually he delivered that line. I'm not even sure he was aware of the double meaning at the time.
15:10 Advice about not falling into the trap of going for "your" center territory because it "looks pretty", forgetting "side before center" in general
The DDK in me wasn't following some of the variations, but I always still learn something. Thanks for the game. Even the short review of the last game wasn't hard to understand and my main take-away was that building the shape for White in the lower left is fine if White can then plop a stone down along the side. White never does and Black take the option away. Lost points for White. I did laugh at the M;TG joke, but currently I'm enjoying Hearthstone (translation "2-2 with Rush") for its faster play time and simplified mechanics. If you decide to try it, hit me up and I'll friend you there.

Best advice at 19:37 "Hands off mouse in between moves"... "Cyber Era book of GO Proverbs"
“2/2 with haste” haha that tickled me that did ;)
I like seeing the thought process as you play. That way it's presented more slowly and less of an information overload.
I freaking LOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVE your intro!
Good job mate!
Experimenting a lot this month. Don't judge me >>
Great MTG reference!!!!

2/2 with haste?! are you teasing that you'll be streaming Arena and maybe posting the games here too?
Haste and first strike
Short and sweet - cool! It will be great if yo tell us a little bit about 3-4 approach joseki, like in the second game bottom left corner. Thanks.

Did you make sure to check the "Auto Tan" function of your video setup? That could explain the orange.
At 37:30, what's does black do if white plays 9 at C13 instead of B13?
lots of choices. You can connect straight under easily enough, or just extend up then jump to c9 i think
Oh, duh, thanks. I was misreading and didn't think the connection under worked.
Great intro. Also, I rather enjoy the review-only approach for a less exciting second game.
great vid.
Why am I not surprised that you play Magic? Lol
Just started mtg arena last week lol
@@dwyrin may i ask what is your favourite colour combo?
nope! been playing a week i have no idea
@@dwyrin if your mtg is anything like your go playing, black blue lol
A week is plenty of time to get confused and meet a few grammar nazis!! Haha
I liked the one game with an extra reviewed game at the end
Me too :)
👌
I Remember you from like 18 years ago...;)
and i've very likely not changed a bit~
@@dwyrin Your videos are fun to watch! Your an excellent teacher! Don't change, intelligent but equally humble and gentle people are rare!

Nice intro
