I feel like this is the best of both worlds - Dwyrin's experience, plus practical applications in a game to a kyu player's thought process. Love this, please do this very often :)

This kind of teaching could easily devolve into “that’s a bad move, play here instead” but it didn’t. Of course you have the teaching experience not to do that, but still wanted to mention that I appreciate it. Your physical reactions to bad moves are hilarious but your vocal response is calm and mentoring

Hey ! As someone around 10 kyu, this was sooo helpful !
My main take-away was that I shouldn't play moves on impulse "just because I see it often"
A lot of mistakes black made I definetly could have as well.
    So thanks !

"We're just gonna do some boring endgame stuff, I'll just timelapse"
    >Enormous ko for the entire game crops up
    Well that was unexpected

Very helpful video. I have not seen much on YT which covers this niche and I think this is holding a lot of new players back. We can watch video after video covering basics and things make sense when watching but when playing a game, it's a different experience. Watching you discuss each move really bridges a lot of gaps. Hope this turns into a series!

  • @jacksonfitzsimmons4253

It's really helpful for basics to actually discuss the moves as the game is being played, especially when you're specifically correcting the errors in the player's judgment
Really enjoyed the video, hope we see this again!

Should. Want to do this for a month or two and see if they improve.

2:25 Suggestion: get a bunch of volunteers have them all consent to potentially playing your team--and keep your partner's identity a secret. Then, host a few tournaments with only those players participating so that you have a guarantee that everybody consents, and yet nobody knows who the secret team is.

    • @NegativeGPA
      @NegativeGPA 3 роки тому +4

Seconded. It doesn't even have to be a tournament per se - just a pool. People might feel like their games were futile though if they expected it to be against the Dwyrin-coached player, so it would need to be framed as just basically a group play study session sort of thing

    • @MrSlowThought

@@NegativeGPA Being open is key to OGS (or any server) allowing this. Knowing that Dwyrin is coaching my opponent is not a deterrent if I know I'm getting feedback at my level.

Good idea for a series! Being new to this format, I felt, that at the beginning of the match, you were overly chatty and I wasn’t sure that Celeste, also new to this, would be able to actually follow, digest and respond to your comments, while also ‘playing’ the game. Fortunately, later, I felt you found your rhythm, but I was very sympathetic to Celeste’s concern over the time lost early on. Looking forward to next week.
