My review for Gran Turismo: ua-cam.com/video/V8OPN_5pYwE/v-deo.html
I'm curious how they are going to report the box office numbers from the early fan screenings - if at all?
I want your thoughts/take on the Lioness show on Paramount Plus. I really like it and it gets better every episode. It stars Zoe Saldana, Nichole Kidman, and guest stars a few others.
I eventually will watch Blue Beetle, but a few Teen Titans guest appearances would've probably help this movie. Plus, not a lot of promotions for it.
@@Nitique05Morgan Freeman in the latest episode, I really enjoy the show, it's not like great but it's a good show
Am watching the Original n Lucifer again on Netflix just finished up suits
It’s not shocking Gunn made a huge mistake by announcing his plans before all these movies came out
Exactly. He should've waited.
These movies shouldn’t come out
Nah, Gunn saying positive things was the only option. If he didn't, the headline would have been "Beetle squashed? Gunn refuses to say if Blue Beetle will exist in future films." DC's bed was made when they chose to release this thing
They knew these movies would fail and lose money.
Tax deductions.
@@jaydeeificationyou had that beetle squashed shit locked and loaded lol
I think the main problem with blue beetle is that the bottom is (has?) falling out of the superhero’s films due to how oversaturated the market became with them. Even if it’s a decent film, people aren’t going to go out to watch a lower tier hero film anymore whereas back in the early days we’d watch anything superhero live action related.
DC should’ve just held on to blue beetle, do a 100% reboot, and then incorporate it into the universe in a couple years
I would agree with you if the film wasn't actually good enough to have the character pop up again in the near future. DC and Warner has to stop this obsession with linking good characters/actors with box office failures. Sometimes it's not the actors, but the script and story that fails the audience.
like grace said, gunn not gonna do full reboot cos want to keep his friend. and i agree with you the solution for this drama is to a full reboot
@nugrohotri3134 dont forget his wife! She was first one hired for the Gunnverse 😂
@@nugrohotri3134FRIENDS, family and wife .
I can see why he said Blue Beetle would be the start of a new universe, to try and get people to show up for it and not write it off as pointless... but that didn't happen.
Instead it made the whole reboot seem pointless, when an instalment from the previous universe can be so arbitrarily added
He never said this would be the start of dcu universe
@@barry2349 "On Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Gunn revealed that “the first DCU character, for sure, is Blue Beetle” while Superman: Legacy is “the first full DCU movie.”
I'm so sorry to Blue Beetle but it just didn't seem like something people would've really cared about, even without the strikes happening. I mean, like you said it really seemed like another Shazam type movie with the marketing.
*Nothing to be sorry about. The superhero genre is dead. Blue Beetle was destined to flop.*
@@Jay-jb2vrTrue that's why gotg3 and spider verse 2 flopped so hard, it has nothing to do with quality.

The thing about suits is a lot of people want comfort food shows with long seasons and many seasons. But steamers keep giving us 6 to 8 episode stuff.
If something has less than 10 episodes these days, I find it hard to care. The new season of Invincible is 4 episodes, a big hiatus, and then 4 more. F that. I'm just done with that show.
22-23 may have been too much but 16 would have been great. 12 would have been a compromise I begrudgingly accepted in the name of working conditions but less than 10 is completely unacceptable
Recently rewatching Supernatural and watching Buffy for the first time, and I definitely agree. There's something about the more chill, laid back, 16-24 episode seasonal format that's just... nice and almost nostalgic now. It gives you a lot of time to really vibe with the characters and see a lot of different aspects to their personalities.

I saw ‘Blue Beetle’ with my son over the weekend. It was a very enjoyable movie. Much more enjoyable than ‘The Flash’. Unfortunately our auditorium (479 seats) probably had no more than 40 seats taken. Ouch!
OMFG
Same with mine, on a Saturday afternoon, for a macro XE screen , the theatre room prob has around 300 seats, but I don’t think I saw more than 30 people in there 🥲
I really enjoyed blue beetle 🎉
And if that’s for opening weekend, there’s no way that there’ll suddenly be an uptick in turn out considering that most every other week will have diminishing returns.
Disagreed. If you read the Blue Beetle comics then this shouldn’t even be remotely close to “enjoyable” to you. Watch Young Justice Invasion, it’s a way better & superior adaptation of the character
Man, I knew from the beginning streaming would backfire on Hollywood.

Was planning to see Blue Beetle this Friday but due to storm heading to LA I instead started preparing. I wonder if the box Office for Southern California were effected by Hurricane Hilary this weekend?

I actually liked the villain of the movie. Ignacio Carpax had a good backstory. A Salvadorian or Nicaraguan soldier from the 80s who used prosthetics to rebuild himself was awesome. It was cool to see Mexicans and Central Americans being represented in the film.

Well, I do wonder with the Blue Beetle movie. If the marketing might’ve been the problem they weren’t going super crazy over the marketing for the movie and I don’t even think a lot of people even knew this movie was coming out this week who isn’t a normal movie goer?
Can’t disagree more. The ads for this movie were everywhere the week or so before it premiered.
I liked Blue Beetle and I thought it was better than a lot of comic inspired content lately. But I did feel some fatigue regarding certain tropes in it that I won’t spoil here. It was still fun and the VFX was miles better than the Flash. It’s a shame it didn’t do better.
Also i thought it was weird placement that they showed a trailer for The Num 2 before Blue Beetle at the theater I saw it at. Not the kind of movies that go together, so it felt random to see it there
We all saw that coming. I liked Blue Beatle, but I can say as a latino, it has many of the usual latin stereotypes.
Such as? What is that you want out of it? (We all want good story’s/characters) think about the decades of all white or mostly white films. So I’m

Grace, Elemental outrgrossed Across The Spider-Verse at the foreign box office and that should've been mentioned here as it's a big deal.
yeah that means it *barely* broke even worldwide. just on the production budget. then there's marketing. so yeah its still in red. by a lot. and hurr it will break even on dvd. yeah thats a pretty sad thing to have to fall back on for a magical movie studio.
@@danielroden9424 it's an original story which are at an all time low, context matters
But it didn't outgross it domestically and the worldwide total, which is vast is what counts. Spider Verse made almost 700 million worldwide. Elementals barely made it's budget back consider it's $200 million production budget and $150 million advertising budget. Also SpiderVerse cost HALF the price of Elementals which means that Sony turned out a healthy profit at the box office, where Disney just broke even on Elementals considering it's very high production budget and advertising. I was not expecting much in Blue Beetle but I really loved Blue Beetle. I think any money from blue beetle is a win since it was originally a streaming movie. It was a really good $120M movie
6:37 I think that Black Panther was an exception to “target demographic dynamic” because among other good reasons, they introduced the character (in Civil War) before releasing his solo movie.
Still seeing Blue Beatle . Wednesday after that probably exorcist in October
My European point of view: Blue Beetle seems to be a pretty generic superhero movie about a character nobody over here had heard about.
Why do you hate America?
@@laverdadescatolica5 I don’t hate USA (mostly I like it, for lots of reasons).
I just want to point out the reasons why BB will have it even harder to succeed on this side of the pond. Just making a superhero movie is not enough. And people over here won’t get any cultural references (aimed at the American Latino community) that might help the movie stateside.
I will see Blue Beetle on streaming later.
one might argue that the lack of marketing around blue beetle might have been a major contributing factor to its failure.
I'll probably pass on Aqua Man 2 -- 1st one didn't land for me and given the break from the DCEU into the DCU. Honestly I kind of wish DC would just scrap their plans, take a five to ten years break from cinematic universe building and maybe start over. I love DC but it really feels like WB is just digging that franchises grave with the exception of Batman films.
Blue Beetle was a really good movie!!! Just saw it this past weekend and plan to see it again.
SAME 🥳
I really surprised by the international box office for Blue Beetle, I actually thought that it would actually be a bit over $30 million there. Now, it seems like this film will be lucky to cross $100 million worldwide before it runs out of steam!
Also, those numbers for Nolan's films don't seem to be correct?! Oppenheimer might actually make more than Interstellar's total ($750ish million), but it's likely not going to pass Inception's grand total ($870ish million). There seems to be something inaccurate going on with that website (The Numbers) posting lower grosses for Nolan's films.
Thats a good point about Blue Beetle posters and advertising I went to the theater in Burbank,CA. Every week they switch up the signs all around the entrance to the theater for whatever movie is out next ...and they still had Mutant Mayhem posters up. The fact that George Lopez couldnt get out to promote this is sad. It shoulda been his comeback story
13:02
I wouldn’t backtrack your thoughts from either last week’s video or the week before, Barbie/the Barbenheimer craze actually benefited Oppenheimer, and honestly without the releases coinciding, I agree with you- Oppenheimer wouldn’t do as well as it is doing now.
I think the problem studios have with targeting Latino audiences comes from that fact that they assume the Latino people are just one big group. But in reality the Latino community is made of many countries, each with its own customs and traditions.
So, a movie like Blue Beetle might attract Mexicans but that doesn’t mean it will necessarily attract Latino movie goers from other countries.
My preferred theater had a poster up for _Satanic Hispanics,_ but it wasn't up when I went back. That seems less like a movie and more like something haters write on the wall. What were they thinking?
I think a bigger issue is that it’s a character that nobody gives two shits about (Mexicans included).
The problem is also that instead of Latinos unifying and seeing the similarities that they have they let the differences divide them. So they all hate on each other instead of supporting each other. That's why Latinos are always underrepresented because they rather watch another Latino fail then help lift them up.
Besides they target, Mexican Americans and we are not the same either.
So you don’t think that people working at the studios know that?
This movie deserves better
Christopher Nolan directing a Bond movie would be like Goku and Vegeta preforming a fusion. It would do BLOCKBUSTER numbers.
Would be great if you had a seminar for all the executives after every movie they put out… explaining to them exactly why it succeeded or flopped. They could learn a thing or 2 from you!!!
Oppenheimer finally released here in Korea. Almost pack theaters everywhere especially imax where mostly sold out.
I turn 17 on the 25th I plan on seeing The Last Voyage of the Demeter as my first rated R movie 🤞
WOW! I didn’t expect this kind of opening😢 but DC fans once more prove they won’t show up to the theater, sadly. I’m scared for Aquaman, but it is pointless if he’s donezo. Sad movie math Grace, but I still think Blue Beetle will do massive on PVOD & Streaming🎉🎉🎉
So they're supposed to just show up for movies that they didn't ask for? Sounds like more sheep than fans.
Frankly, I think these DC films point a beak future for Aquaman. I think it might be high time to cut the losses and send it straight to streaming.
I'll show up as soon as a DC movie arrives. Joker 2 or Batman 2 is a definite yes, while this MCU-lite fanfare is a definite no.
Considering the opening was originally 15 million
25 million is an improvement
Dc fans don't like dceu, but yeah it's sad that they didn't show up also general audience make movies successful dude not marvel or dc fans
I went to see blue beetle and there was only 4 other people in my theatre which is usually FULLL every time I go
I watched BB in IMAX here in El Paso which is a majority Latino city of Mexican heritage. At my showing at 1:10pm on Saturday only a quarter of the seats were filled. @@enedeliaa.4636 By that standard, everything U.S.A. is "not long ago". 🤷
Many reasons happened, lack of promotion, stars and for some Pasoans I know the fact they changed the city, something that many DC Fans of Texas were very proud was kinda of a let down and the people I know just lost interest in the movie after that.
Will see the blue beetle movie next weekend
I’d love to see Nolan do Bond. But I’m not sure how I’d approach it as a studio. I doubt Nolan would want to do more than a single film. Which means he’d essentially lock the next iteration of Bond into the Nolan design-ethos but then pass the reins onto different filmmakers. I think it’d make for a great one-off. But ultimately I think it’d set the next Bond up to fail long term.
Though at the same time, I’m so down for Bond to start becoming one-off adventures again. I’m pretty sick of Hollywoods obsession with continuity as is. It worked for the Daniel Craig Bond. But I’d be fine with the next Bond giving us a series of unique adventures with their own tone and direction.
"I’m pretty sick of Hollywoods obsession with continuity as is. It worked for the Daniel Craig Bond."
No, continuity didn't work for the Daniel Craig Bond - they didn't even have continuity until more than two hours into his fourth movie, Spectre, when they showed the previous villains and tried to pretend that it was planned all along. Stand-alones are the way to go.
Last Voyage of the Demeter failed worse than "Renfeild" i thought it would be #1 this week

Marvel got lucky with introducing lesser known characters like Dr Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy. Expecting characters like Blue Beetle who have literally been around for decades and most non-comic readers still not knowing who that is to deliver hit numbers is a real gamble. Talk To Me needs to be mentioned for how exceptionally well it is holding for a horror movie. It's going to end up above Hereditary to be A24's highest grossing horror film. I wouldn't be surprised if the sequel was even bigger too given it's a crowd-pleasing classic, similar to what happened with Insidious and the massive opening of the second film.

Americans probably get from 50% to 60% of the stuff in there and that's a problem because people in south america doesn't go multiple times to a movie and in the end is that what makes money.
I loved Painkiller 😍 it was Awesome, can’t wait for your final thoughts
