Honestly accident can happen to anyone, anywhere. It's good to be cautious though, especially having to work for a living. I undergo rotator cuff surgery and will have 6 month recovery, and I wrecked on some random flat ground section with a few baby heads... shit happens
So I got a grade 3 AC separation while I was skiing in Montana. I didn't need surgery but couldn't raise my arm for like a month. Sleeping at night was the hardest part. I'd roll over onto that shoulder at night which hurt like hell. I ended up getting a body pillow and used it as the big spoon so I couldn't roll over. That recliner was a great gift. Take your time getting back so you fell 100% when you are back on the bike.
I got surgery on my shoulder last week feels like I'm going to the same exact thing you are going through right now but loving your videos and it's giving you hope to get back just like you!
One year ago I had a similar surgery to the one that you did, minues the broken bones part. Your movie brought back memories that I forgot and I should remember for the rest of my life. I'm talking about those small "wins" that you got during the long recovery months and how every win gives you the strength to overcome the next challenge in the sh#@tty recovery period. Thanks mate for sharing with us some of your hardest times.
Thank you from a 66 year old Nana in the UK. I’m on day 9 after surgery to put/pin my shoulder together it’s been very painful 😩 Us Older folk don’t bounce as well as we used too. I have laughed until I cried at your antics😂 loved your piece from the recliner on the stronger painkillers, so funny, I agree and am in the most comfort on a recliner, also the difficulties eating 😂. Laughter is just what I needed as did my husband. Lovely to know there is a good life on the other side of this.
I had carpal tunnel surgery last year. It was my right hand and that was my dominant hand. Learning to do things with my left was frustrating but like you said not impossible just took more time. After a month to able to ride a bike was weird and frustrating for lack of strength. Over time it felt better and normal. My surgery wasn’t to the extent of yours but seeing your up beat attitude of life is why I follow the channel. Keep healing and time will pass and you be back riding and shredding. ✌️
I just found your channel as I sit in my recliner recovering from breaking my femur in a few places on a bike ride. I am glad I have some bike related content to watch to pass the time. I am looking at a very long road back to even walking, but it is fun to watch someone else who enjoys riding get back to where they can enjoy two wheels again.
Oh bummer dude! I hate hearing about anybody suffering a bad injury from our sport, really sucks to sit around and not ride. Hope you can have yourself a speedy recovery and get back on the bike someday 🤘
Glad to see you are progressing and appreciate that you credited your wife appropriately. I am 12 weeks recovering from partial knee replacement and 18 weeks recovering from a broken (compressed T11 vertebrae) back. Both injuries were from mountain biking. I am just able to ride some light green rated trails and looking forward to this riding season. Be prepared for your head getting in the way once you are able to ride again.
I Spent 3 weeks in hospital. Bike accident 25 Nov. Femur shoved thru my pelvis. Rt pelvis in 3 pieces, rt collar bone broke, rt pinky finger broke. 55 staples going halfway around my abdomen. 12 weeks in a wheelchair. I had finished the mtb ride and was on a neighborhood street going 15 mph. And something went wrong. Being fit helps recovery. Keep the faith. Every day gets a little better than last.
Awesome to see another video of yours. Ive been wearing out your old vids. I cant wait until you can ride again. If I ever had a chance of keeping up with you I would have to ride when you first get back on your bike!!!!
Glad u are doing well Bobo ! I am a rather new fan , have watched all ur vids and I love mountain biking ! Let me start by saying my husband has had numerous mtb injuries, such as shoulder dislocations (at least 5) , then there was concussion when he hit a tree and cracked his helmet. Thennnn we were downhilling in Colorado and split his chin and another concussion and then broke his ribs in Moab , so I know what u and ur wife are going through. All I have to say is he is soooo lucky 🍀 that we got married as I am also a ER nurse and I have stood by his side no matter what ! Thank goodness we now take it easy biking these days and he will live to enjoy our next adventure!
Glad you're doing well! Keep that PT on lock, as someone who has come out the other side of a major injury, I can assure you that PT is one of the most important parts of your recovery.
Finally able to ride my bike after a couple months. Knee surgery from a bad head on car accident. I'm wooped after just a few short miles but damn it's nice to be back. You'll be there soon and that first ride will be one of the best in your life. Like you, I wouldn't have been able to do it without an amazing woman in my life. Thanks for the videos and amazing content.
We’ll done bro. Great video and fun to watch. Good luck. I too have had shoulder surgery to repairs 2 tendon tears and on week 2 of recovery. I see the doc in two days. I feel much better. Cheers, ❤
Watched this on Night 13 sleeping in my recliner. Spot on video. My Weiner dog sleeps between my legs each night. I had a severe rotator cuff tear and had 6 anchors put in. Doctor Dukes at Tulsa Bone and Joint said it was one of the worst tears he has seen in 25 years of shoulder surgery. I had orthosscopic surgery and 6 holes. Not too bad. Definitely not as bad of an injury as yours. But I'm 65 now, so hard living in a recliner. PT starts in another 10 days. Doing pendulum exercises Day 3. Working pretty good. Entertaining video. Killed some sleepless time this morning. Thanks and good luck, Dale
At 72, had a one year-old AC repaired with the dog bones. About three weeks post-surgery and have been doing 3 days a week PT for two weeks already. Occasional ache in the shoulder, but no real pain. Only taking hydrocodone for PT sessions (they DO hurt.) Waited a year for surgery because I was originally told that it wasn't needed and PT would take care of it.
Cheers dude, @ around onwards 4:20 spat wine all over my keyboard. Great to see your health improving. Loved the editing in Landys Bit. Mrs Bobo you're awesome too!
I've been down the shoulder surgery path, but it wasn't as serious as this and it was still brutal, I can't even imagine how it's been, and I certainly can't imagine filming and knocking out such a good story from it
This is like you have done a documentary of my life for the last 8 weeks. Dislocated and broke the ball of my shoulder off the humerus and fractured the ball in half. It's a slow process getting back but it is getting there. Can't wait to ride again.
Well we are both recuperating. I tore my right knee ACL, Meniscus and fracture my tibia on a really stupid fall during a jump. My fall happened on November 16, 2019 and had surgery on December 16. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks from surgery. You are lucky you are married and your wife helped you. I got lucky a family I ride with allowed me to stay with them. Can’t wait to hit the trails. Good luck on your recovery.
Great to see your surgery was a success. I'm 6 weeks to the day post op from my total reverse L. shoulder replacement and biceps Tenodesis surgery and feeling great. I got carried away (non compliant) within the 1st two weeks, then my wife (RN) called me out, as did my surgeon after my 1st post op visit. I'm 62, a lifelong athlete that realized that this is my final shot at regaining a fully functional shoulder as the total reverse shoulder replacement is a last option for severely damaged/arthritic shoulders. Initially diagnosed with a grade 3 RC sprain, I decided to self rehab and after nearly 3 yrs of declining mtn biking and skiing I decided to have an MRI as the shoulder was not getting past 50-65%. I'll miss this ski season and missed most of this past summer mtn biking but I see the light through that long tunnel. I'm not sure if I'll continue rehab of my R shoulder ( also in bad shape) or have surgery this winter, I guess the appt w surgeon next week will give me more to think about. Stay vertical out on the trails, and continued enjoyment in the saddle. Peace from SW Idaho.
i know the struggle man. Broke my radial head in 2 places a little over a month ago now from a crash. Just got out of my cast and starting physical therapy. My doctor says I'm still easily 8 weeks out from being able to ride. Couldn't imagine a 6 month recovery period. Good luck on the healing process! Come ride snowshoe with us this summer🤙🏻😎
I’ve had 4 heart related surgeries and 3 open heart surgeries. I don’t remember much from them but my mom and grandma told me that two days after I was walking around the halls while they followed me with IV’s and stuff keeping me alive. That was when I was a kid. Dig the videos also!
Awesome man! I broke and dislocated my shoulder a year ago. I know exactly what youre going through. Im glad to see youre healing and finding ways to "stay in the game" so to speak. As hard as it will be, let that shoulder heal before you jump back on the bike. Cheers!!!
Total respect for you Bobo. It would have been so easy to just do nothing for 6 months after that crash. But you’re still nailing really good - genuinely interesting and entertaining content. Kudos fella. Heal quickly and keep on smashing out the great videos.
In Feb of 2019, I tore my Medial Deltoid. It was rough, but thankfully I was able to avoid surgery and through some intense rehab, get back to riding. I definitely appreciate every ride I go on so much more now! Cant wait to see you shredding again, but i have to admit, your videos are always entertaining even without the riding. Keep on Keeping on. ;)
I’ve have a grade 3/4AC Joint Separation we went the no surgery route first. By far the most painful part was the stinking sling. Shh don’t tell anyone I ditched it within 3 days. Took me another 11 weeks and did an easy road ride. 13 weeks I hit the trials. I’m still skittish and taking it easy Ish. Good luck bro. Cheers 🍻
Great to see that recovery is going good. I dislocated and broke the growth plate in my left shoulder when I was 16( major otb on my bmx bike) One surgery to relocate and install two pins, and one surgery to remove them. I was chipping with my golf clubs after a month with the pins in (even though I wasn’t supposed to).
Kick ass! mine was stage three and i am now just able to ride trails since Aug 7 when I crashed . You got to keep working out and getting stronger and killing it dude!
Injuries are awesome blown out calf, torn meniscus, broke both feet on two different occasions a year apart, complete ACL replacement with fractured tibia & torn meniscus, and most recently two separated ribs and one fractured! Yes the body is amazing! However injuries suck balls particularly the older you get. Cheers just got to keep sending it!
I had Achilles tendon surgery June 6, 2018. I couldnt walk for 3 months as I was in a hard cast for 6 weeks and the other 6 I was to not put weight on it. Crutches and knee scooter was only way to get around. Also it was my right foot so couldnt drive either. I remember getting so frustrated not being able to do simple everyday things like getting dressed, going up/down stairs, and showering. I still feel the effects on my foot 1 1/2 years later. I am actually now just getting back to "normal" where I dont think about it before riding or working out. Word of advice, dont slack on the PT. I did because I was super busy at the time. I was finishing school with one of the toughest schedules imaginable, being a Dad to a 4 and 2 year old, husband, and all while trying to get healthy. I gained a ton of weight too because I was off my feet for basically months. I am regretting not keeping up with the PT as I still have some lingering problems. Good luck Bobo with the recovery. Your attitude seems great about it. Stay positive. We are all rooting for you. I miss you not riding and singing down trails but I can go back and watch previous videos.
Ah!...been there TWICE!...complete shoulder replacement on the right and on the left, labrum, slap tear, ac, rotator cuff. Each surgery 6 months apart!! All good now back riding. My advice here on out is wear RXR shoulder armor, I've crashed with them and save me to go back on the operating table, this armor is legit!! Cheers Bobo!!
Greetings from Greensboro. Glad to see you’re healing up well! You and Mrs. BoBo crack me up. I love the videos and can’t wait to see you riding again. I have been there myself when I broke my hip and wrist rollerblading. Keep working on the recovery, you will be back on the bike in no time, learning to ride all over again. 🙂🥂🚵♂️
Glad to see you on the road to recovery. Rad that you shared the unglamorous part of the journey. I feel you man. And yeah...get after that PT life! 💪🏽
I have a type 4 separation i got in a very similar accident and I'm getting this surgery this summer. I'm pretty nervous but this video helps put my mind at ease, thank you!
I fucked up my collarbone some 15 years ago, and I agree, the first proper shower you take after the deed feels _so_ freaking good. Keep recovering, my dude, eager to see you shred again! ✌
Good to hear that you're healing up, Bobo. I didn't separate my shoulder, but I did break my right humerus on Labor day last year, so I can really understand what you're going through.
I can also relate to having a good wife like yours who has done so much for me, its like having an extra kid to care for! Helps get me dressed, wash myself, drive me ro all my appointments, cut my food up, and so many lttle things- the list goes on. Can't imagine what it would be like to be like this and have no one to help you out.
I only had a grade 1 shoulder separation when I OTB’d.......I’m such a failure! Lol. Your videos are getting so much better. Take care of yourself first, and you’ll know when your ready to shred again.
So glad to see you doing better! I had a grade 4 separation in June. No surgery, just PT. Was able to get back on the bike after 6 weeks but now have a Frankenstein shoulder that scares small children😁 At least now I have a cool and disgusting party trick! Heal up fast, Brother👊🏻
I had the same thing with fractured ribs back in August 2019. I've completed PT and have been cleared to ride trainer and road bike.No MTB till March .Shoulder feels pretty good other than it's tight I also tore my labrum. I've been told it takes a year to feel really good.it just sucks to not ride MTB but i know it's for the best to wait,at least i can ride my road bike.hang in there BoBo we can get past this.just a minor setback in life.
Had a level 2 separation of my right shoulder after going otb on a big jump at mountain creek back in July less than one month before my honeymoon. Needless to say the wife wasn't happy! Lol. Only a few millimeters of separation so I lucked out and didn't need surgery. Hope your therapy continues to go well. Feel better Bobo!
Glad you're good to go. I'm a month out from reverse shoulder replacement and my recolations, especially that first week, are the same as yours - a blur, but a good blur. My so-called nerve block did not work so the initial recovery had more pain and opioids to control the pain probably contributed to the blur. I'm waiting for the OK to drive now - maybe by week six and the next surgeon appointment. Have had 4 PT sessions and faithfully do those exercises daily.Life is good!
I think your editing skills leveled up.

Bobo, You have an awesome wife buddy!! Makes you think how lucky we are. Glad your felling better!! Nice one at 5:59
ROBIN DALE I’m a lucky guy
Been there done that. In no time you will be back good as new hitting it. Take care
Keep doing the videos with friends, keep upping that game, cheers!
Glad to see you're getting better!
Good to see your healing good, and things are going well..
Super helpful. Shoulder replacement tomorrow in San Francisco. Thanks for doing this.
Good luck dude! Here’s to your speedy recovery 🤘
This video was awesome Bobo. Thanks for keeping us updated and just know that we will be watching your content no matter what!
Michael Coble thanks dude, yeah... gotta stick with the PT for sure 🤘
Glad to see you on the road to recovery. Rad that you shared the unglamorous part of the journey. I feel you man. And yeah...get after that PT life! 💪🏽
MTB ALAN thanks dude! Yeah, can’t skip the PT
I have a type 4 separation i got in a very similar accident and I'm getting this surgery this summer. I'm pretty nervous but this video helps put my mind at ease, thank you!
Get well soon Bobo! Warmest regards all the way from Malaysia.
Fatah Tahir 🤘
I fucked up my collarbone some 15 years ago, and I agree, the first proper shower you take after the deed feels _so_ freaking good. Keep recovering, my dude, eager to see you shred again! ✌
Glad to see dude. Keep to your therapy! At least it's winter!
Good to hear that you're healing up, Bobo. I didn't separate my shoulder, but I did break my right humerus on Labor day last year, so I can really understand what you're going through.
Glad to see you’re healing up good! You should change the outro to “you’ve been recovering with Bobo” 😂
I can also relate to having a good wife like yours who has done so much for me, its like having an extra kid to care for! Helps get me dressed, wash myself, drive me ro all my appointments, cut my food up, and so many lttle things- the list goes on. Can't imagine what it would be like to be like this and have no one to help you out.
fish hunter truth
I only had a grade 1 shoulder separation when I OTB’d.......I’m such a failure! Lol.
Your videos are getting so much better. Take care of yourself first, and you’ll know when your ready to shred again.
Endo Pro 🤘
Nice see you getting better!. did a nice flip this summer and broke 4 ribs and a stage 2 shoulder ac seperation, still on rehab but getting better.
That's friggen Ace man :)
Very happy to see this video, your wife's the best
Glad to hear you are recovering! Excellent editing on this one.
Glad to see you feeling better. 🤘👊
Blake Williams thanks dude 🤘
That flash shot of you in the club actually made me laugh out loud!
This is hilariously helpful. Thank You as I’m entering my 3rd week of the same procedure.
Oh man, good luck to you! And a speedy recovery 🤘
Great to hear things are getting better! Big shoutout to your wife!
Chris Michael she’s a saint 👼
Hope you have a speedy recovery🤙
