The sound of this song is Ed's Steinway piano with a MIDI connection on the back with the synthesized sounds added to the origijnal signal. Great sound!
I would also recommend watching the Bridge School benefit version of this song, where it's just Eddie on piano and Sammy on vocals. Eddie adds some cool embellishments, but you can see his hands a lot of the time and hear the sound "naked" clear as a bell. Also, the Live Without a Net version is killer, on which Eddie plays as well.

When you do synth covers any tips on finding the right patches would be great. I’ve seen comments that it’s basically the OB/Jump patch. My VST calls it synthbrass. The piano sounds like a concert grand with alot of Hall reverb. Am I close?
Hey Steve... This is not just the Jump patch. It's one that I have out together myself using Keyscapes and Logic Pro VSTs. And yes, I do have a piano in there, but it is a bright piano rather than a concert grand.
@@BenBennett10 I'm using the Arturia Oberheim VST. The biggest difference between the OB settings on Jump and Love Walks In is the Envelope filter. Thx for the info on the Piano. When I mixed the piano in I really nailed the sound. I'm a guitar guy, never would have thought there was a piano underneath.
Hi Jeff! Great to hear from you. I'm not much of a blues/gospel/jazz pianist. It's a much different genre to play that type of music. My focus is more pop/rock and original music. Sorry I'm not able to teach on these other topics.

Avid Van Halen music-nerd here, just have to point out that the 9th note of the right hand part of the main melody should be an E, but it's being played with a D here. Kudos on showing the proper left hand bass part, but also Part 4 is simplifed compared to the original (losing the cool rhythm). Finally the song modulates from C major to F major as the fifth and final part, with the main melody starting on the next F up (satisfyingly related to the middle parts which are in D minor, which is F minor's relative). There will be a B flat in the mix now instead of a B, so a little more difficult for beginners.
Hi there! Yes, I realize that I have simplified the part - as I do with most of the tutorials on my channel. I try to make them so that people that aren't as experienced on the keyboards can still make the sound and play the song ALMOST like the original. Happy to have you here at the channel with me!!

Avid Van Halen music-nerd here, just have to point out that the 9th note of the right hand part of the main melody should be an E, but it's being played with a D here. Kudos on showing the proper left hand bass part, but also Part 4 is simplifed compared to the original (losing the cool rhythm). Finally the song modulates from C major to F major as the fifth and final part, with the main melody starting on the next F up (satisfyingly related to the middle parts which are in D minor, which is F minor's relative). There will be a B flat in the mix now instead of a B, so a little more difficult for beginners.
