Yep, it's like something from the Bible, a beautiful city being despoiled.People defecating on the street. People not going to work, lawlessness. The state has Tremendous Natural resources and beauty in upstate New York, laying unused. The Taxes are high and the services are poor. It's a shame.

That is an awesome question. I would say that components are not ammunition and therefore are not prohibited from direct shipment, but the reality is that if ammunition sellers are going to require an FFL it is doubtful that they will send components directly. To New Yorkers.

I placed a large order and a month later they called me and they had me pay for Prime membership and they applied it retroactively to my order. I didn't want the membership because I thought as you did, but they said that they have contacts in law enforcement and they are shipping until Sept 1 2023.
That sounds correct. Someone told me that's what the store is charging. Not a lot for a store thay had to store a case of ammo. The stores do poorly in trying to get FFL buyers to buy in-store items. It's all so stupid.

Its a tough situation since the online transfers will put many FFLs out of business eventually. But at the same time you will always need local FFLs to make the online transfers. I'll leave the solution to people smarter than I.
Does that mean that the people of NYS soon won’t be able to order ammo online? NYS is getting worse than NYC. It’s absolutely disgusting. It will only get worse for the law abiding citizens. The criminals however, have been having a field day.

@@Anubis-nx1gu yes, please tell him. I always felt that NYS laws were mostly reasonable prior to this new batch of ridiculous laws that criminalize the innocent. Now soon you won't even be able to get ammo shipped directly under the new law. I would love to have a house in PA and go shooting up in my backyard. Funny you should say. My computer has pictures of houses for sale in PA. I dream of a log cabin vacation home for the weekends. 30 Acres and a clearing for my targets. Maybe with a pond. Low real estate taxes for now. My concern is that it's a purple state.

Under Cuomo the previous NY SAFE act required background checks and record keeping for ammo sales. The State Police said it was impossible to do so it never happened. I imagine that the new governor will run into the same problem.
No worries they will have a thriving blackmarket by the end of 2023 if you have connections you won't have to worry people from surrounding states will bring you ammo prob will be double the price tho.....

I see these states doing this but how does it effect the people who hand load do you have to get a back ground check for every coponent you buy

Update - Target Sports USA has informed me that their contacts with NYS have informed them that the new ammunition law will start September 1, 2023.

And I agree, 5.56 vs 223 does not really matter at all in a modern rifle, I don't shoot long range, anything works fine for me.
