Speaking of Neil Ben, he actually posted an apology for his writing of that episode in the comments section of SkarloeyRailway01's review of Wonky Whistle, and it's still there to this day.
Neil Ben's actually written a railways series esque story before in another British straight to video animation called Steady Eddie The episode in question was called "Stuck in the Mud"
9:54 - Neil Ben commented on the Engine Inspector's review of Wonky Whistle, saying that while he was amazed that he was recognized for it, he still finds it a real shame, since the script he wrote looked very different to the final product, and he had done some pretty good things in his career before and since. But Mr Engine Inspector, I promise never to use a cheap rhyme, to make sure my scripts are all fine, when I write in future I'll take my time and denounce all responsibility saying "that script's not mine!"
The worst part of Wonky Whistle is how he didn't listen to Bertie and the people who tried to warn him. And Trevor, I agree with you on the fact that this is a horrendous episode.
@@TrevortheTrainFan Emily and Dash was like Wonky Whistle, but much, MUCH worse. I immediately cringed when Bash, Dash, Ferdinand and Emily were making Tweeting sounds with thier whistles. I bet those kids at the end of the episode literally listened to It's Great to be an Engine and took some of the words like they meant it!😡😤😠👎
I watched James A Williams' Thomtober series. And looking back, at the Sharon Miller era. I would say Sharon Miller's writing kind of improved a bit in the later years, notably in season 16 (which was the last season she was head writer and has written any episodes in general). Heck I think some of the specials she's written including The Great Discovery, Hero Of the Rails, and Blue Mountain Mystery were pretty good. She even does a great job as a voice director during the time Andrew Brenner took over as head writer. I've seen worse from Mattel. Miller may not be a high professional at writing, but she does have some positives. This is not to offend Miller in any way, but I think she read too much Dr. Seuss hence why there was a lot of rhyming in the episodes when she was head writer at the time. I know it sounds a bit silly but it's just my guess.
Actually Sharon Miller was voice for director for the whole CGI era. And you might hate me for this, but for the first half of the Brenner seasons, she lost it as a voice director (as in, she did a better job during the Nitrogen seasons).
Yeah, Wonky Whistle is a stupidest Thomas episode from the Nitrogen Era. But hey, At least Very Important Sheep from Season 19 is a improvement over this mess
I found it dumb how Thomas didn't found out about his whistle until later on in the episode, I agree with his firemen and workman not warning him from the start. It would've been much better if that happened.
When it comes to Seasons 1-24 as a whole, this is, in my opinion, the worst episode in that show. But when you compare it to AEG, this looks better in comparison in terms of animation and character designs.
As what someone mentioned in the beginning of these episodes during Season 13-16, it all looks the same. Engines doing their work, pulling trains, and being proud to be on the railway. It gets repetitive after a while.
Same honestly. I like the animation, voice acting, and moral, but it’s just boring in my eyes (Up Up and Away is better in my eyes because it’s slightly less boring: key word, slightly).

Wonky Whistle was..... dreadful! Although the sound of the whistle was kind of funny, it does NOT excuse the atrocious writing. Thomas was an idiot all the way through the episode, he nearly injured several people and he completely ignored what everyone was saying about the animals escaping! This episode is awful.
