Thank you three years later still an awesome video
Glad to help
Thanks for making this video! I saw it a couple of days ago when I needed to purchase a c-stand for a project. While I wanted to go with the Flashpoint stand for the sturdy spring, the grooves on the legs, and the extra pin - the shipping was going to take longer than I hoped, so I ended up purchasing the Neewer stand instead.
That being said, my Neewer stand came in the mail today and I've been pretty impressed with the build quality. No wobbles or rust and it feels pretty strong. I was also surprised that mine HAD grooves on the legs!
The three downsides on the Neewer stand:
- It cost me about $20 more, but I got free one day shipping with Amazon Prime
- The spring isn't smooth and is a little violent
- Unlike the Flashpoint, it didn't come with the extra pin. It's no big deal right now - but I imagine that might be useful down the road.
Joseph Rollins can’t go wrong with either honestly. Enjoy!
Just the comparison I was looking for. Had the Neewer on the wishlist for a while but the Flashpoint ones are currently on sale for $99, so it's a no brainer. Thanks :)
Dead Dinosaur Productions welcome.
Exactly what I needed to make my decision. Thanks!
Daryl Spencer glad to help
Cheers mate appreciate your detailed information. Helps the community 👍
Solid man. Appreciate this. Getting the flashpoint bc of this video
No problemo!
Thanks for the video! I needed some information to decide to buy a kit in adorama that includes the Flashpoint C-Stand! Now I am more than decided. You can't want more for such an affordable price stand!
Eli Boziok glad to help!
Thank you so much for the review! Really helping
Vlad Artov welcome!!
Good video. Great detail information. Thank you for making and sharing it.
Ralfy Merced Photography you’re welcome :)
this was super helpful! thank you!
Very welcome!
Thanks Tristan for your detailed review. I like how you go into details cuz I'm a details kind of guy myself...too many other reviewers don't even bother. I will go with the Flashpoint model!
You're welcome!
Thanks for your time and this well explained video
Really helpful, man. Thanks.
Thank's so much really helped, going to order the Flashpoint!!
Awesome glad to help! :) (affiliate link is desc wink wink lol)
I just got the flashpoints :) thanks for making up my mind !
Welcome.
I just bought the Neewer c stand from Amazon. Couple of observations from mine... 1) My Neewer has the exact same "notched" legs as your Flashpoint. 2) Yes, my threads all have some surface rust as well. This is probably caused by the moisture from the milling process but isn't a big deal to me. Thanks for the video.
Michael Wachel yeah they are both notched one is just more solid than the other. Sucks about the rust though.
Thank you, seriously, thank you for this comparison.
Welcome!
I really appreciate this video, i went a ahead and ordered the flashpoint from Adorama after watching.
Not sure if you guys cares but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend these days =)
@Javier Darius yup, been using instaflixxer for since november myself =)
@Javier Darius Definitely, I have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
Very informative! Thanks man, was just looking at C stands on Adorama today. The little differences you point out are really valuable to peeps making purchase decisions.
Glad to help.
Thanks for your video! I’ve had already bought the neewer ones, but I was lucky enough to been able to cancel them after watching your video. Then I tried to buy the flashpoint ones, but they don’t ship to Spain, so I ended up buying one Avenger kit in Thomann for a little more of the price of these two 🤣🤣🤣, what an adventure! Now, there is no option than recover the investment.
Hi! And what is your opinion now about Avenger? Flashpoints are not sold in Germany either. Thanks in advance for your reply
This is very helpful. Thank you. Love the cameos by your Tuxedo Cat!!
Glad to help! And they are always in front of the camera :)
Thank you for that!
You’re very welcome.
Thank you for this comparison video, I've been looking for this for a while. The flashpoint weights 23 pounds and the Neewer is 12.7 pounds, maybe that's why the flashpoint is more sturdy.
I think that information may be slightly off as shipping weight versus actual item weight.
Great Video. Thanks
ChrisKixx you’re welcome.
Thanks for this video , was searching it badly. Can it hold aputer 300dii with soft box? either one? I don't see the arm too long though ? If this will work ill buy it if not can you suggest in my situation ?
Great comparison.
Thank you.
Thanks for making this video, if I do choose to go with c stands I know which one to buy :)🙌
Glad to help!
Do any of these on the threaded end of the arm have a flat edge? I saw on Cheetahstand they had something like that and I like that idea when mounting a light it doesn’t end up spinning
Thank you so much! Now, how about another video showing us how to attach our equipment to the c stand (sorry, I'm a newbie to c-stands).
What springs do you get to put in the knuckles of the flashpoint?
Awesome thanks!
Mason Walsh welcome
I need a C-Stand for my Steadicam dock, my old one broke and I need one quick - would these be strong enough for that?
TrackpadProductions yes 💯
@@TristanPope Awesome!
You should be able to adjust the legs a bit so they are easier to close. I just got a new flashpoint c-stand and it doesn't require as much force. Also, the stability on the flashpoint is likely due to the way they have the bottom mounting pin inside the main metal tube. The flashpoint is tight inside with a single roll pin holding it together and the newer looks to have a bunch of rivets. Last point to note is the flashpoint has large rubber O-rings in addition to the springs in the main body where the newer does not. There is never metal to metal contact on the main clamps.
Yup agreed with everything here and this is why I say Flashpoint over the Neewer :)
Nice video but I am new and need to know how to use these stands. I have never used a C-Stand
Put light or camera on one end, counter balance other end with sandbag, get a light that can be over a subject without the stand being in the center :)
Now does one of them come with a cute kitty cat ? Dents ,they put them in so they look wore. kinda like buying jeans that are already tore lol . I love this guy .Tristan you are so thorough in your review. Great job .Glad I ordered my Flashpoint just now.
Night Stringers very welcome hope you love it!
@@TristanPope indeed I did
Good video. Does the Flashpoint head grips can be mounted on the Neewer C-Stand?
Yes
@@TristanPope Thanks
Seems like the Flashpoint legs weren't closing easily. Would this be a problem if you have to constantly pack it away and put it in a closet? I need something sturdy enough to mount a camera in a horizontal position for overhead shots, but I'm unsure if a C-stand would be too bulky for my needs...
David Poston a c stand is exactly what you need. And you want the feet to lock. It’s not too difficult.
@@TristanPope What is the footprint when assembled, and what are the dimensions when packed away? Thanks for the quick reply.
David Poston might wanna check the website for that. Don’t have a tape measure ready.
Спасибо. Ты старался.
What about the Neewer vs Avenger C-stand? I mean, i would think the Avenger is better(?) because cost twice the neewer, but maybe the Neewer can stand the quality/price battle?
i have used Avenger, Matthews along with some Chinese c-stands and believe me they absolutely worth the extra money. it's like comparing Caprice 1990 to a tiida. butt if you don't need that ruggedness, then Chinese stands could get the job done.
I got my flashpoint at amazon
Is the cat included?.
The Filmmaking Channel mine!!!
What/how is the threading on the bottom of the Neewer base used for?
Jipsee bupkiss in real world scenarios.
weird, the Neewer has way more glowing reviews.
I cannot STAND (yes pun intended) when people do a review or comparison with two types of brand and only to say you can't go wrong with both, both are good. No one is better than the other that's the point of reviews and comparison.
Jake Lozano I mean I made it pretty clear the flashpoint is the one I went with. But the other one is fine too. Honestly with this kinda thing you can’t go wrong specially with the prices. If there is quality control on the neewer then return it. If there is quality control on the flashpoint return it. Overall though I did say the flashpoint is the better choice.
Ill take the rusty one...........NOT! This man.
:)
i think adorama and neewer both using chinese stuff one is visico mostly neewer use it and flashpoint use godox they just changed the names ofcourse for marketing;) u can see flash triggers and flashes aswell..
Yes indeed this is a video about the difference between knock offs :)
I'm throwing out all my tripod light stands they are cheap garbage that came with light kits time to embrace C stands
Night Stringers I mean cheap stands are nice too in certain situations.
@@TristanPope like when things aren't going your way and you need something to throw lol
Night Stringers haha or when ya need a toss around equipment.
@@TristanPope lol yep.
@@TristanPope btw you have a cool name
