    Dood, keep being you.... you are great! Yes, you got the gift to gab and I could listen to you all day. You’re like that crazy fun shop teacher early in his teaching career, not the one at the end of his career who hardly lifts his head to sip his coffee, but that young guy who is still excited to teach. I genuinely appreciated this video.

    Great tutorial! How many c-stands is a good number to own for an indie filmmaker? I'm just thinking the number of lights times the number of diffusers times the number of black negative fill can really start to add up. From your experience, how many c-stands do you tend to use per scene? I don't mean for like a Blade Runner 2049 exterior, I mean more for a small interior Grand Budapest Hotel-like scene.

      From Martin: Hey there,
      Thanks! Really happy you liked the tutorial!
      For an interview kit three 40” C-stands is a great number. C+ stands are great due to their removable Turtle Base and versatility. Normally interviews aren’t shot in environments where a Sliding Leg C-Stand is necessary.
      In a small van package six 40” stands, (five sliding leg and one C+ with removable turtle base) and two 20” stands, (one sliding leg and one C+) is a great start. Having eight stands available with a variety of styles offers lots of great solutions. The larger Sprinter package I would bump up to eight 40” and four 20” stands. Six Sliding leg 40” and Two C+ 40”, with two Sliding Leg 20” and two C+ 20”. This allows you to allow the camera department to gobble up two 20” stands for the focus pullers leaving you with two shorties for grip work.

      My first recommendation would be to give the riser a sturdy cleaning with silicone spray, this will remove and gunk as well as lubricate. If this does not solve the issue, there may be a slight bend in the riser. There are two common types of bends, one is caused by overstressing the riser side to side, the other one is caused when clamping onto the riser to tightly. Attempting to correct these bends by either bending the riser in the opposite direction or by using a dead blow mallet with a piece of wooden cribbing to knock the oval back to a circular shape. Both of these methods however may weaken the riser, we recommend replacing the riser if it is bent.

    guys what's the difference between a double riser c-stand and a c-stand with sliding leg?

    • @petepete8556
      @petepete8556 2 роки тому +1

      The risers are the vertical shafts--most C stands have 2 risers, whether they are a 40" or 20". A double riser C stand can have a sliding leg, or a turtle base.
