Very informative video Jeremy. We don’t have one yet, but I think I see a purchase in the future. Need a downrigger for Wahoo season! Thanks for a great video! -Capt Dan
We use these all the time in SF for salmon. Look into using rubber bands to hold your line to your clip. There is a method to where it breaks at the rubber band and you don’t put stress on your main line
@@ReelHazardous number 33. We do slow trolling, ie from 3 mph up to 5.5mph but we get big swell and chop out in SF. I wouldnt use that rubber band for the speed trolling you guys do (I would get a stronger rubber band). I have tried many methods for attaching via rubber band. Honestly the best method is seen in this video, give it a shot. I use this for all my salmon trips (I have a captains license as well :)). ua-cam.com/video/o1rKyz37FWA/v-deo.html
planers are tougher after havaing used both i'd go downrigger your line breaks off free and clear then no planer in the way or hand spooling to worry about.
Enjoyed your video, simple and to the point.
Thanks!

Great vid! Sub’d… just bought my first downrigger and I like your method
Thanks! What fish are you targeting with it?
@@ReelHazardous mackerel, stripers, mostly… hopefully I’ll get offshore far enough to get into a few other species

Nice! The rubber band technique sounds like the way we rig our tag lines for high speed trolling. What size rubber band do you use?

👍🏻good video you should do the same video using planners
Nice job
Which do you guys prefer? Downrigger planners or I use 48 ounce lead
What if your boat is angled on top ?
I fish with braid on my reel , can I still twist it for the line clip ?
I haven't used braid as much in these clips for slow trolling but when I use downriggers for redfish I prefer to use the clamp clips with braid.
Do you think a #16 Planer would be better than a ball?
I think if your trolling faster with ballyhoo its better but for slow trolling live baits I think the downrigger is better. Good question!
