This is one of the most charming small branch lines to explore and its well worth the effort if you get the chance. Warning though, if you go into Looe and buy yourself a Cornish pasty watch out for the gulls, I saw one take a whole pasty out of a man's hand while he was trying to eat it!
Combe junction halt, if you carry on from there you go under a viaduct and arrive at a production plant. The rail traffic going over the viaduct is about 30 seconds away from Liskeard station. Also coming from the other direction Liskeard viaduct which the line passes under, the rail traffic passing from right to left going over the viaduct is about 20 seconds from Liskeard station. So the incline away from Coombe Junction is basically a huge loop because the line has to gain a lot of height.
I like the video very much of the return journey from Looe to Liskeard but I would like to also see the original journey from Liskeard to Looe in the same that you managed to cover this portion in your video of the St. Ives Bay Line. I say 'original' and 'return' because from having caught this train myself I know that most people who visit the branchline tend to first get the train to Liskeard from where they change to access Platform 3 for Looe trains, after all Looe at the end of the line is the holiday resort town destination. As nice as the line is, one thing to be aware of it does get flooded easily as the line follows the path of the former Liskeard and Looe union canal itself was used for carrying the cement, so the Looe section is virtually built on the river bed. Luckily it 'just' managed to be saved from closure under Doctor Beeching's plan
Loving the snazzy music during the trip, I got this route for train simulator got abit confused when I ended up in some yard with the dmu not realising I had to change ends and points to proceed back the way to looe 🤣
Interesting that Liskard Station is a dead end. Where does it connect with the main line. Or does it even connect? I read somewhere that the branch wasn't physically connected. And if that is the case how do they do stock transfer. Also is the line to Moors Water still open?
It connects before you enter into the platform at Liskeard Ground Frame and yes Moorswater is still open, one train a week, Usually on a Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday.
Absolutely. Unfortunately this was a management decision not to record sound. I have an full explanation as to why in my next video. As other people have said you do have a mute button.
RailMart actually I’m interested to know what your prices are for the videos you put out on UA-cam, so for the Barton line how much would you ask for if you wanted people to use it?
I've developed a Train Sim 2020 version of the Looe branch (in the Railways of Devon and Cornwall) and never quite resolved the speed into Liskeard P3. During field trips and also in this video drivers did not slow to 5mph from the turnout to the chord towards the main line, instead gradually slowing to a stop from the previous 25 mph line speed as they approach they buffers at the end of the P3 line. My NR track plans clearly show a speed limit of 5 mph from the turnout to the chord onwards. Do drivers typically ignore this limit? Crawling along at 5mph from the turnout to the buffers does seem excessive and risk averse.
I have just looked at GW Sectional appendix (Page 271) and the 5 MPH applies to the Left turn out only, through the GF towards the mainline. The Speed indicator is actually incorrect and should therefore show a left arrow, it is 25 MPH into the platform.
a view of looe station would have been nice before we started .as for the noise [some people have called it music ] the less said the better. sorry gave it a thumbs done .
Pedant Alert. Not a moan, I love the video, even the music, but for future reference a platform with a waiting room, ticket office and staff is a station. A platform, unmanned, with or without a shelter, is a halt. Thanks for the video.
Nice video especially when the sun came out brightening up the Cornish Countryside, although I do agree about the music used? Perhaps some non-copyright classical music would have complimented the rural landscape better, but still a unique rail trip - so thank you for producing it!
One of my favourite lines, but I do wonder why causeland isn't a request stop…

This is a beautiful line that I’ve never traveled on. 👍
It really is!

Nice bit of route to drive there im a track maintenace engineer for network rail id love to work on this line one day keep the videos coming guys 👍
Thanks, will do!
I did the branch in June 2017, very scenic. I wonder if the Brightlingsea branch would have looked similar. Natural sound would have been better...
Great views and music!
Loving the snazzy music during the trip, I got this route for train simulator got abit confused when I ended up in some yard with the dmu not realising I had to change ends and points to proceed back the way to looe 🤣
Oh. Moorswater probably.....
I do like tracks that run alongside water.
Doesn't everyone.
I wonder if the views from the train on the Brightlingsea branch from Wivenhoe, closed 1965, would have not have been too dissimilar.
There is a video on the web somewhere of that branch.
Thanks.

The Looe line is platform 3, walk to start of platform, cross road, go through iron gate onto platform 1 .. simples. 😉
I just don't understand the need for these comments... If you don't like the music please mute your computer instead of moaning 🤦
My thought exactly. Some people just like to moan though, either that or they haven't worked out how to press a mute button.
Absolutely. Unfortunately this was a management decision not to record sound. I have an full explanation as to why in my next video. As other people have said you do have a mute button.
@@RailMart Does MANAGEMENT know anything about trains or other train videos produced
A wonderful scenic branch line ,Is it still on the br network, cheer's bob.
Yes Bob it is.
I say definitely film the other Cornwall branch lines
Will try.

RailMart I wish I could post a picture of my NR chart, which clearly shows a 5mph limit into the platform from the turnout.
Q, Why is it called a branch line? A, Because it's surrounded by TREES.
Ha Ha...
a view of looe station would have been nice before we started .as for the noise [some people have called it music ] the less said the better. sorry gave it a thumbs done .
Shame about the music
Oh, is that what it was?
I had the choice of Music or No sound, Not allowed to record Drivers voices. Anyone can mute if they want.
@@RailMart Don't worry - we can turn it off if we want to! Actually, I quite like the first jazz organ track.
Why ruin a good video with crappy music. I turned it off. Other videographers add train sound, just cut out any speech.
Great graphics, though - very realistic.
I've ridden this line many times. Very beautiful, unlike the music presented here.

Had the pleasure of doing this trip in about 2016?
Isn;'t it Fabulous!
Please re-upload with just the natural sounds of the train . Thanks
Unfortunately I was not permitted to record Drivers voices.
@@RailMart What many train makers do is either take the sound feed from the back cab or attach a camera to he outside outside of the train

Thanks for the video.
Thanks for that. and your welcome.
I believe only 2 halts on the network officially and both on this line.. Coombe and St Keyne so I wouldn't sweat it mate.
Those bridges will not clear double stacks.
Just about fir a 12 tonne mineral wagon. 😁

Noted!
spoiled by the music
That was recorded near my house
The music spoils it.
One always has the mute button.
Nice scenery. But Would rather hear the train than the music.
Excellent view, had to put the tv on mute to stop the hideous music but to be fair it was a great drivers eye view.
I had the choice of Music or No sound, Not allowed to record Drivers voices. Anyone can mute if they want.
Could of been a really good video if it wasn't for the dire '1970's porn fllm' music
Watch with the sound down, it's more relaxing that way!

Not keen on the Belgian Jazz music. I’d prefer silence.
The silly music ruins thos entirely
