Saw Roy a buncha times, mid-70s in Toronto, Massey Hall. After reading an article in Guitar Player and learning he used a VT amp - which was always perched on a chair and facing the rear of the stage - I found one in Long & McQuade's at the old Bloor and Spadina store. It had three buttons for additional EQ shaping: Rock, Jazz and Country. Pressing all three seemed to do the trick. The sound, minus Roy's particular finger magic. Rest In Peace, Roy. 8''>)
Love yr playing and was a “real “ chaser of Roy’s tone....found out his Nancy telecaster had a short in bridge pickup...so hence the transistor weird sound and extreme treble for pinch harmonics...look up Don Mare ....he took Nancy apart discovered the anomaly..👍👍
Hi Jim, this is beautiful. Roy was incredible. Is that a replacement neck on your Tele ? If it is, you must have really, really played your old one to beyond return. Thankyou for your time & effort in these home videos. Cheers.
I know Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton were roommates...you should have moved in...The Great Negotiator of sounds. You picked a true artist as you are a true artist.
If Roy B and Danny Gatton and Rye Cydr and Jimi H and Jeff Beck were all on a stage n someone yelled out "Who is greatest player?" These guys would find that a most uninteresting question because their mind is on tunes in their head. They would care less what title was bestowed. Roy would detune a string for the sheer sound, Beck would have that grin of fun times, Danny Gatton would place a banjo next to Roy and Hendrix would feel among kindred souls.
what are potentiometer used for volume? linear or log? what knee 10/15/30? it`s easier to know model of pot. cts has a lot of varity of pot curves it all play a role. And what capacitor do you have on tone pot? thank you for lesson
@@jimcampilongo6469 it different from stock to stock. even if i`ll know exact model of your guitar it will be hard to find exact cap values for it on forums. My cts log pot for example doesn`t give such smoth volume swells, it roll off almost all volume after 6. 047 orange drop caps gives much more dark uncontrollable tone so..
