I totally agree that Roy Buchanan was an exceptional guitar player!! This is a great lick and great lesson Corey. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thx, Jim!
Roy’s second album is killer !
Im 54 and met Roy several times in several east coast places. My guitar teacher from the 80's knew him and we followed Roy for a few months. Smoking up a few of his back stage areas. Roy's been a favorite and inspiration for me for years
Thanks Corey ❤!
Thanks Corey!
Am I the only one who finds this to be waaay harder than it should be? My hands fight my brain, they've done this together for 30 years, and letting Left get ahead of Right is giving me a tough go. Great job Corey. Roy is favorite and this gives me something to reach for, because I certainly can't pull it off atm despite how easy it looks. Thumbs Up
I really liked Roy during this phase of his career. I remember walking into a record store in Northern Virginia when "When a Guitar Plays the Blues 'came out and getting it on the spot. Roy was living around DC and was a local hero. Nice lesson Corey. Keep up the great work. I dig it.
Hey this is great! I learned this from listening to Roy years ago. He could actually make his Tele Cry better then anyone I ever heard. An Amazing player. Very much missed. Thank You for mentioning this monster player! Great Video.
Great. Thank You👍Greetings from Germany
You're getting a great Roy inspired tone out that Tele, Corey. Your friend's sense of humor helping you to capture Roy's own twisted sense of guitar humor.
Looking and sounding good, brother!
Great lick, and love that Tele. You should add it back to your rotation!
Roy Buchanan live in Austin tx is one of the best live shows on UA-cam. Should be turned into an album, I've listened to it dozens of times.
So good!
@@coreycongilio Roy Buchanan had a special on PBS decades ago which was recycled. Before Austin cuty limits I belive he was on inconcert.
@@markscott4830 That's a classic!
Roy , A real crazy guy. A Genius
Great video. Thanks a lot Cory.
Glad you liked it!
Great idea and sound on that lick Corey! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
Great stuff bro, love seeing you play SL's guitar
i subbed as soon as i saw that zappa shirt, great video
Thank you for the lick of the day! I was fortunate to see him in 78 when I was just 16. Canned heat opened for him. Truly an Amazing player. Glad you kept that guitar from your friend who past on. We are playing a fundraiser for ALS tonight. It should be a good event.
🙏🏻
Yeah Man!
He sure was awesome.
Roy is so inspiring! Blues Licks by the Greats is such a fantastic course. Really glad I joined "Working Class Guitars". Still waiting to see that Coodercaster you mentioned a while ago.
Wow, thanks Kurtis!
Got to see Roy play in two separate stops at Harvard Sq in the early to mid 70s. Amazing! I don't think the studio albums caught the his amazing live performances
That’s a killer tele
fun.....and awesome shirt btw!
Ha! Thx!
Hi mate just wanted to say I clicked on your video because of the telecaster. Absolutely love the colour and the binding. Your friend had great taste
He did. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video Corey😉👍
My pleasure!
@@coreycongilio what model is your telecaster?
@@masqacordes not exactly sure as it was a gift from a friend who passed away. I think it's an American Deluxe
@@coreycongilio thank you
Corey--- you have great taste. I love me some Roy B. I've been enjoying your instruction quite a lot lately. You're a really great guitar player and very easy on the eyes. Love & Hugs in Jesus Christ. M~
Thanks so much!
That Tele is 🔥!!! Holy 💩
A point worth mentionning is that sadly Roy Buchanan died by his own hands. For those of you not familiar with his music and guitar mastery I invite you to listen to his peice: The Messiah.
Bending, pulling off, E pentatonic from one end of the fretboard to the other, and a description of how to incorporate the long lick into a soloing context , plus some insight on a original player, What's not to like? If the rest of the course is akin to this, it is well worth the dough. Thanks, Corey!
I went back , checked out the course samples - so meaty - plus, Hubert Sumlin as well as Roy Buchanan, and many others - I am In. It's Corey C. at his teaching best.
Thx so much, Stephen! I hope enjoy!
nice vintage T Cory!
Thx!
Nice! As a young player I bought an Alligator Records compilation with Roy on it and my teacher also loved him so I was a fan early on. Plus he just looked so cool! What a great lick to practice. Thanks for continuing to share your expertise!
Corey, you are a very tasteful player.... what pickups on your tele?
Thanks, Mark! They're Lindy Fralin Split Blades
@@coreycongilio This why I like you, you make a point of connecting with people.
@@markscott4830 Well thanks! I try to as much as I can.
Roy learned that from Roy Nichols.
Could be Roy Nichols too.
U live in Nashville rt ? And u dont play a tele much ? Things have changed .
Yep! They sure have!
Sorry but I walked out on a Roy show ! He was so drunk ! Terrible ! Then I’ve heard from many people he used to sneak in to watch Danny Gatton and it’s so apparent he copied some of Gatton . But I do think his first two albums are a must for any Tele player.
