Absolutely right. They knew that the very second that gate drops the MG42 was already on them. The German soldiers watching, the gun waiting. Our soldiers thought up funny Nick names for weapons like the Bouncing Betty's and such. But for the MG42 there was nothing funny about that thing. They Nick named it The Bone Saw. And that's what ripped them to shreds as soon as the gate fell.

Jon Paradero really I think it was Battle of thermopyales, Battle of Longewala, Battle for Tarwa atoll,. Or the stand of the few SAS operatives against hordes of barbarians.
If you look closely it wasn't even a contest. The Germans were tricked into thinking that attck was someplace else. ... Think about what would have happened if that trick did not work. Still the Germans fought like Tigers, the Americans fought like eagles... Nothing to take away from anyone. All were soldiers there... Each fighting as gallantly as they could. But I will give it to the germans. They were surprised, ill prepared, and even then massacred an all out war machine marching against few men with machine guns. .... I guess they were the Leonidas in this. Oh btw check out the stands of 21-Sikhs, or Battle at Longewala. Nah. Operation Overlord is the GOAT of WW2. A massive, allied beach landing, pushing against the dug in Nazis, in a fight to liberate an oppressed Western Europe. All the Russians did was defend their own country after being betrayed by the Nazis (they helped the Nazis invade Poland ffs), and being saved by winter. When they were on the offensive, the Russians annexed every nation in their path. They didn't free anyone, like the US, UK, etc did.

The anniversary of D-Day. This is the day that thousands of the best and brightest of our loved ones stormed the beaches of Normandy to give their blood, sweat, and lives to destroy the Nazi war machine. When i feel lost, their stories give me guidance. When i feel fear, their sacrifice gives me courage. When i feel weak, they remind me to be steadfast.
As of late, too many people have forgotten what it means to be a true American, and the honor that is to die so that another can live free. We have forgotten to respect each others differences, and that true Americans fight to the death for each others right to speak their beliefs.
We can never repay the sacrifices they made for us, however, we can honor them by remembering the way they lived their lives and when the day comes where we must stand to protect our freedom we will do so just as they did, and die proudly if necessary. We are not special. Freedom is paid for with righteous blood, and we must never forget that.
I will never forget, and i will never quit.
Pleas join with me June 6th and honor the survivors and the fallen of WWII.
To the American fighting man. Our brother's should never be forgotten. Thank you for helping to give me the razor-sharp moral compass that I have today.

My grandfather fought for the Allies in WW2 and he is only 17 years when he got enlisted for the war in India🇮🇳 during WW2.. during the D-day he was in Italy, fighting italians and then he got transferred to burma to fight the Japanese.. after the end of WW2, my grandfather moved to USA..my grandfather died in 2008..he never shared anything about WW2 to my family...he was a happy person outside but I don't t how much he suffered inside in his heart ❤️ losing his friends during the war.. people should realize allies means not just America🇺🇲, British, Soviet Union and Commonwealth..but many Indians, africans, and others who are in British colonies fought during WW2.

@@nysteven1 The great secular historian John E. Ferling wrote of the American revolution that the events that transpired seemed 'Almost a Miracle'. If you read the book, time and again he recounts the most fantastic luck which befell the young American army and its commanders.
If you are a real student of American military history, you will find that coincidences and chances of fate that seem "almost a miracle" happened to the nation time and time again.
Of course a secular historian cannot write and perhaps cannot even believe that some divine providence and hand of protection was on the nation in times of crisis. It requires an act of faith to go from the evidence of that which seems almost miraculous to believe in an actual miracle. In this nation, you are allowed to think God just stood by and did not intervene. We are blessed for the moment to be a free nation where you may make up your own mind without fear of repercussions. But even someone who doesn't believe in God, if they are being honest, must confess it was almost a miracle.

American here, My Great Grandfather served in the navy during the war. He wasn’t drafted he volunteered because he felt like it was his duty to serve his country. The ship he was on was there in the water during D-Day. From what I’ve been told he was never quite the same man after the war for obvious reasons. Although I unfortunately never got to meet him but I can say that he was truly a hero as were all the people who served and fought in the name of freedom during the Second World War. Rest in peace Great Grandpa thank you and many others not just in the United States but around the world for the privilege of living in freedom each and every day because of your heroism. 🇺🇸 🇫🇷 🇬🇧 🇨🇦 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 🇨🇿 🇵🇱 🇳🇱 🇧🇪 🇱🇺 🇩🇰 🇳🇴 🇬🇷 🇹🇼

Well I mean you gotta consider that the world has changed since 1940’s. People aren’t hiding their social differences anymore, new laws have passed, people need to be more tolerant, and we haven’t gone to war with an opposing nation that would motivate us Americans to defeat evil. There’s just no cause worth fighting yet that us Americans are willing to die for. Sure the war on terrorism is an important aspect and we need to defend our allies but a real threat to the US, a real, tangible threat with guns and armor of the same caliber, threatening democracy and murdering thousands of people, now that’s not there yet, until then we need to cultivate our economy and strengthen our nations unity and tolerance.
