Strange how ive listened to Tool relentlessly but I never get bored of the music. Theyre songs are constantly in my head!
Well, I don’t care how long it takes
You’ve already given me a lifetime’s worth of music to dissect and enjoy
Good news buddy
Adam is so down to earth. Him talking about splitting everything 4 ways no matter what is inspiring and gives me some kind of hope for this crooked industry
I respect the process. I remain content and obsessed with the 3 past albums. None of which have left my cd player in my car. They can take as much time as they need.
antilyon ,,amen !
antilyon 3?
So far, every album seems to be it's own journey; a record of the struggles, triumphs, and lessons throughout each phase of life. I currently am resolved of Undertow, realized in Aenima, and coming to terms with Lateralus. I don't like 10,000 days yet, but I believe that's only because of where I'm at in life. I anticipate that I will not enjoy their new album for a while, because I will not be ready for it right away. But I will keep it with me, so that one day it will fall into place within me.
BULLTRONHERO this is probably the most pleasant UA-cam comment I have ever read (:
Hope it grew on you. 10k days has some of the coolest guitar intricacies and little variations and shit like that in it. I love it great songs great feel great vibe. It’s not where I expected them to go after lateralus. Just like fear is not where I expected them to go after 10k days. But at the same time it’s exactly where I expected them to go. Anyway hope you didn’t die and can appreciate these albums
DESCENDING!!!
this album will be a masterpiece, like all the others
MetalSoHard it’s pretty good I must say.
I love how Justin and Danny are just rocking out the whole time. This is the greatest rock band of our generation... or at least, I have found their music to be the most amazing of our generation.
The secret of Tools longevity split the money evenly 4 ways.
WISE WORDS .... "most of our peers fought about money, and they broke up, y'know.." ...... so much respect to those 4 guys together as PEOPLE not just as musicians or artists...
Hey take all the time you need. 10000 days was admittedly my first album from these guys and I gotta say, I'm very impressed and I 'm gonna listen to every album before their new one drops.
Aenima is the best but if u like 10,000 days ull probs like lateralus more cuz it's similar
+SergeantZaf03 Yeah Lateralus rocks!
Lateralus is my favorite Tool album and song. The song is genius! Amazing work!
sure hope you've been listening to the songs in order! So many people that are new to Tool don't. 😊
+SergeantZaf03 It's subjective, but Aenima is also my favorite. it's the perfect mix of artsy and the rawer material of Undertow/Opiate. Still has some rage in it.
Lesson of the day, split any/all earnings equally; I love them for that.
I appreciate his metaphor to painting a picture, where some may take a year to complete a painting, while someone else might finish one in a day, relating to the long process of Tool creating a new album; and the estimate of 6-12 months per new song.
Adam is probably the most honest member
Why is it that people cannot understand that the guys in Tool have lives outside of the band? If the records not done, it's not f'n done. Leave them alone. I want a new record like anyone but let them live they're lives. Now that Fear Inoculum is finally here, we can all rejoice. Love Adam. He's so cool and down to earth.
Totally agree. I thought "living up" to their older stuff was a monumental task, but they did it in my eyes. Easily the best band of the last 30 years
Adam, if by some strange coincidence you see this.. do your thing how you do it. It WORKS, you're successful and we're ready and waiting when this creation of art is finished.
I like how Descending and Opiate2 are playing in the background. They've been tinkering with these songs for years, taking their time perfecting every second of them
c'mon fans, be patient. This is a Tool album, not a Motley Crue album. We all know it's not a "hey let's write a fuckin hit that everybody can sing it and party with it" So, be patient.
Yea.....but I've been pretty patient for 10 years. I mean if this was 2010 you could get away with that but its been 10 damn years.
be patient
is this a test?
is has to be
+James Hottman Hey, if you look at A Tribe Called Quest, they haven't released an album in over 18 YEARS! So be patient for maybe a couple months... or years.
Space between Aenima and Lateralus=5 years. Its been close to 8 years since their last, hope the new one is fucking killer :)
Then another 5 between Lat and 10000 Days. :)
***** Yeah, my point was that they put out their two best albums (in my opinion) within 5 years.
Imagine what they could do with twice that time
Hahahaha Adam uses the best life examples to explain things clearly and perfectly... Man's a Genius
Quietly wetting myself with excitement!
So the audio in this is as far as I remember opiate2 and descending
I feel sorry for the boys, so much pressure on them for this album
when Adam says I appreciate that at 2:44 what did the guy even say ?
“Just kidding, man”
I love them and would wait for as long as it tacks there my teachers and i Respect them and love them there beyond the realms and for that i can say
Listen!!
7 Fucking years.
Be patient. 7 years, 7 albums, 7 chakras, renewal and rebirth takes time.
Edwin It's been 8 years going on 9.
Pretty sure he's referring to the law suits they've had going on.
The last album was called 10000 days for a reason I think lol
*****
lol, the title is about Maynard's mom, who died when she was about 10000 days old. Did you know that?
8-30-19!!
I think something to consider is that whatever bullshit lawsuit they are dealing with may very well affect future earnings from a potential forthcoming album they may release...if you bust your ass and put everything into something that your livelihood also depends on, it might be in your interest to await the outcome of a legal ruling that could affect how you go forward financially in every aspect... The album is probably done.
Half-Life 3 will be out before the new Tool album.
New Guns n´Roses album will be out before the new Tool album.
"Half-Life 3 will be out before the new Tool album." Ha, I wish
Jesus will come back before the new album
nomemaneiropracaramba i When the new album comes out though, it will feel like Jesus returned.
Maybe Jesus will return with the new tool album on his hands
I'm thinking 2018 or 2019. Possibly 2020. Maynard said a few weeks ago on Joe Rogan that as of July 2017 they had only recorded a few tracks, no vocals yet. So that doesn't sound very far along. They'll have to record all of the remaining instrumental tracks, and then Maynard writes the lyrics and vocal melodies. So we still have a long ass way to go unfortunately. I'm sure it will be good, and probably their final album, but geez it's taking forever. I also read that Jones is being very meticulous and obsessive about the structures and drum parts and stuff. Maybe too much so. It's gonna be quite a while. Heh 3-4 years ago the rumor was that "it's coming out this year", each year, which wasn't even close to correct.
i really don't care IF and WHEN they release the new album ! I'm a drummer and (as a musician) i have infinite things to hear and learn ALREADY! They give us a LOT, really... there's so much to listen to for me....imagine for a non-musician how many more incredible things to learn!! We all know that TOOL is NOT a regular band... so
Need new Tool album @_@
Greatest band of the last 30 yrs easily. Let them work how they want. That legal battle was the real delay
Fuck yeahhhh Tool!
"...it sounds like you should have more than, like, 5 albums..." hahahahahaha
I tried to pick a favourite album release of Tool, but failed. I honestly regard them all as equal merit,... same level of intensity, emotion, humour, angst, anger, cathartis, bravura and topical relevance. And other than maybe their opening LP, ( only because it was the opening ) the subsequent albums could all switch release years and you would hardly discern any difference. Like, Lateralus could have been released in 2006, and 10 000 Days in 2001, Aenema likewise, and still retain all their respective hallmarks. This is a sign of bone fide, lasting QUALITY.
Comparing their albums is like comparing apples and oranges. You just can’t, and they’re not even meant to be the same. The answer is all of them. 😄
instead of waiting go discover some new bands...I know tool are one of a kind but there are also some great acts out there who will give you new albums that don't make you wait 7 years between albums!
More like 10 years.
come on we have been waiting almost 10,000 days for a new tool ablum
Milo J actually less than 5,000 days....
It seems like at a certain point you would want to change up the formula, just to make sure that it does actually work. There is a possibility as a creative person that you have crafted a false perception, that the system you've created is the most efficient when maybe the reality is much more fluid than that. Throbbing Gristle used to reassign tasks to every band member for every album as an experiment to see how it affected the makeup of their overall material. An extreme example, but there is a kernel of truth there that might be quite important to the creative process.
That is unlikely to happen. Why change a winning formula just for the heck of it? Yeah, like Carey will take over vocals and Maynard drums. Your premise might hold true if all the production to date had been mediocre or lacking flair, emotion and substance. Many millions would argue it was'nt, so it isn't relevant here. Throbbing Gristle?..who even cares..
It was an extreme example used to illustrate a point. Creativity requires people to push the boundaries of what is expected of them. Otherwise, boredom sets in. The work suffers, the artist suffers. If you had ever created anything, you would understand. IF you are another space monkey consumer standing in line at the record store waiting for someone else to hand you "emotion and substance", then you have nothing to add to the conversation.
when did this interview happened???
This was a VIP session during the march 2014 tour
CONFIRMED NEW TOOL ALBUM LATE SEPTEMBER 2014!!
Joshua C close
The tech generation will have 2.. or 3 more IPhone releases before this masterpiece is finalized. I am happy waiting.
Is this the full press conference or whatever?
5 years later and its here
10,000 days was a premonition regarding the time it would take before the next LP. just a misunderstood title.
god I made so many bad jokes about the title with friends xD
27 years?! XD
Don't you mean fifth studio album?
Hoping for a double album or maybe like Use Your Illusion I&II and really rake in the money.
Adam told me to be patient when I asked him about the album and god damnit I'm being patient.
2016 looks realistic. Five years between their three previous abums will probably be twice as much this time, considering the lawsuit and other factors (Puscifer, winemaking etc.)
based on the recent updates I think 2015 is likely.
Yeah, everything I've read is pointing to a late spring 2015 release. Wish I could remember the interview but back in October Danny said they were easily more than half way done.
darksunwithin and now we have almost 2017 and still no new Tool album ... fml
I'm scared...he said in there that everyone wants a led zeppelin reunion but its not gonna happen..it is what it is....does this mean only maybe an ep of what they have?..im crapping my pants
Its the law suit against them that's slowing them down........
Am I the only one who wonders if this next album will be their final 1??It has been awhile since their last, and does anyone think they have ran their coarse?Don't get me wrong,I sincerely hope not !!But the Inbetweens are far too long....
I would not be surprised if this is their last album.
4 more albums max.
Immediately after this next release, they will start churning out records every 6 months; sounding similar to a mixture of Creed and One Direction, but mostly Creed.
I've read quotes of them saying (on a number of occasions) that they will keep making music until one of them is dead.
Chris McCartney They all make music in different facet's,but do you think they will keep putting out together as the band TOOL?Or will they work on other project's like they've already been doing?Pursuing other intrests...Like they already have been doing.Adam speaks of them having a lot of material, and I hope they release it as Tool :))
Remember when Tool used to put out new albums? Ah, what a time that was.
Please record this album with the 432hz tuning
You could always you the iPhone app. It's called the 432 player:)
that "theory" is a bunch of crap.. coming from a musician of 13 years, it doesnt make one damn bit of difference.. yes, ive spent several hours reading up on it.. and ive even recorded my own stuff in 432 and 440 to compare... ill agree, its interesting, but only about as interesting as playing in dropped D vs standard, or dropped B vs dropped D... theres honestly not a single damn difference.. the pitches are still the same relative distance from one another.. its just harder to tune to 432 because a lot of cheap tuners dont allow you to change the base A frequency
Bullshit, It changes, even the hindu A is at 432 hz and if you listen to it with cymatics, it appears a Sri Yantra :P
objectively there is no difference.. now if you feel like there is one, its probably just a placebo effect...
-.- read what pitagora said about the 432 hz tuning than we talk.
Tool don't have to make a record. They've made shitloads of money so it's our fault they're not making a record every two years. But frankly who gives a shit. They'll produce what they'll produce and we'll probably love because it's likely to be quality. It's slow burn in a fast world and I think that is fucking great. Plenty of bands have made 20 mediocre albums.. Tool break the mold. They don't give a shit about how ' productive' they are - it's all about whether they want to do it & whether it's going to be quality.
Title for the new Tool album: MILKING IT
Dude, c'mon
4 fucking years ago. lol
almost 4 years later still nothing...
The lawsuits still hadn't gona away, I wouldn't make shit either of people wouldn't leave me the fuck alone. At least its coming.
Fear Inoculum is out now
I don't give a fuck anymore if Maynard dies or something and they're out of shit. If they record again, great. If not, okay then. *They've had a good run.*
Maybe someday
Even Duke f**** Nukem Forever came out :)
Adam Jones reminds me of a white version of Blackula
Stop joking about the new album, tool nearly died in court.
13.33369
hurry the fuck up with the album
+Arda Von Show some respect
he didn't say anything...wtf...he sounds like he really hates talking to us lower races.
This band is pathetic. It's been 11 years since their last album. To contrast how unproductive they are, over the course of 11 years, 75-86, Rush put out 10 mostly amazing albums, a bunch of them are as good as anything Tool ever put out. Specifically albums like 2112 and Hemispheres are better than anything tool ever did, and they wrote them wayyyyyyyy faster.
I don't think the frequency with which they release albums has so much to do with the music-writing process as it does with wanting time off to decompress. My guess is, Tool didn't even start writing music for the upcoming album until last year. As someone who is getting older, I can relate to the band wanting time off to do other things... To live their lives. The only member who does not take a long-term break from his side-projects is Maynard, and even he has not been touring consistently with them. In other words, I do not believe Tool have been working on the new album for the past 10-12 years. No one spends that amount of time working on a single album. No one.
Oh -- I agree Rush is an awesome band! I think they are still ahead of their time, as far as prog-rock goes.
Tim Renken rush is great but tool is like Picasso.tool is art to clear out soles.patience id's all it takes.tool will never suck.this album will be another masterpiece not just another good album like rush
They were hesitant to even sign a record deal in the beginning because they all had jobs they liked. Tool isn’t a career for them. More of a hobby they do on their own time and just happen to be really good at it lol
How many albums have you put out Tim?
The secret of Tools longevity split the money evenly 4 ways.
