JB, you nailed it. I cross shopped the F250 against the Ram 2500, both diesel configuration. Drove them back to back and when it comes down to it, I prefer the look and feel of the Ram, but I needed the capacity of the Ford's 10800 GVW. On the road, the Powerstroke is quieter than the Cummins, which my wife noticed right away. The Mega Cab reduces payload to where the payload is nearly useless for my requirements. The ride of the 1 tons are a turn off, let alone finding one at ANY price right now. I bought a Lariat last week and I fell in love with my Ford. Still at the end of the day, I couldn't find the perfect combination of trim and features I wanted on either, waiting months for a custom order wasn't an option. The Ford gave me what I need today. Both are awesome trucks. Sorry GM guys, I can't stand the look of their new HD's, non-starter.

The larger cab, bed, and performance sold me on the ford. I've had both over the years and like both. The ford interior has everything i need and I've been putting a key i in the ignition for over 30 years.also like ford's mirrors better. I've never been a gm fan though.

If you spend a lot of time driving unloaded lowering the air pressure in any truck greatly improves the ride. I just air up if I'm going to tow heavy. My f 250 rides amazing with less air in the tires

Dan A. : I had to double check to see if I wrote this comment (above). My sentiments as well. I have had numerous pickups over the last 50 years. Mostly Fords, a few Dodge's and one GMC. Just not a GM guy at all. Prefer the Fords over the close 2nd of the Ram. I ordered a 22' F350 because of the 7.3L gas & 10 spd tranny; I just lean Ford way overall.

I've had a 2021 Ram 2500 laramie, eff that coil suspension on rough roads my laramie was a quad cab, I prefer the leg room and the comfort that my 2023 Ford 250 has, my kids appreciate the more leg room in the back seat of my F250 also. I have always leaned towards Dodge trucks I have a cattle operation and have mostly used Rams but this 2023 F250 is way more comfortable and rides way better going down the road. For a work truck work horse and a more economical choice Dodge every day. With that being said as far as ride and comfort chevy or gmc is the most comfortable rides on the road, my 2019 gmc pulled great and road great and did well on fuel mileage, just had some weird issues off and on with it, some electrical and a warranty issue with my fuel pump that went bad with less than 10,000 miles but damn it was comfortable to ride in. All of them have their good and bad it just comes down to what checks the most boxes overall. I still love the Dodges and my next may be a Megacab 2500 idk..good video thanks for sharing.

I like the coil springs on the Ram. I think the radio looks good in the ram but I much prefer knobs for my a/c control. It’s just much quicker. I live in Texas so it could be 40degrees in the morning and 90 when I get off work.

Ford F-250 7.3L w/ 10spd. Better HP/Torque, Better Transmission (RAM can't build a great transmission so had to outsource to ZF '6.4L gas', Aisin for 3500 6.7L diesel). Ford has better payload, more room in cab, Ford being built in the USA is a nice plus too to support USA manufacturing jobs (vs Mexico for RAM).

I always had Ford's and never had a problem with them, they always did what I wanted them to. I bought a Ram back in 2002 and and while I liked it for driving and smaller loads I ended up trading it in. I needed the payload capacity Ford had. Just towed and hauled the weight better. I almost bought a 22 model Ram as the years have gone by, and I see they are very popular and priced cheaper, but in the end I went with the 7.3.

I like the coil and the space of ram if you get a mega cab. Literally a twin size bed in the truck for road trips but as of now the 7.3 can’t be beat being a gas engine in a heavy duty truck for a faction of what a diesel will cost. All truck manufactures have their pros and cons buy what will put a smile on your face as you go down the road. Keep it between the mustard and mayonnaise my friends!

Ram to me is built cheaply. I’ve owned both. I bought a Ford F-350 Tremor with the 6.7. The Ford has a ton of power, gets good fuel mileage with the 10 speed, rides nice. Ford is built in the US versus Ram in Mexico. I haven’t had one issue with my truck and I’d never go back to RAM. My last truck the RAM 3500 shit the transmission at 95k. Only good thing I can say about RAM is the warranty and of course the Cummins.

I’m in a ford, but I’ll give you the interior design on the Ram. My issue over the years is that all Dodge vehicles I’ve owned over the years would start to shit the bed with electrical issues around 105k. Yeah, yeah, I’ll hear all the crap from the lovers, but my experience turned me off the brand. 3 vehicles, issues in all and the last almost put me through a guardrail with the power cutting off. The Ram 2500 has by far the best ride of any HD truck. Thats its best selling point. The 6.4 Hemi is inferior to the 7.3 in every way. Thats not negotiable. Plus that MDS is a MAJOR turn off. I have a '20 F350 Tremor 7.3 with and put 29,000 on it since day 1. Its a great damn truck. Stiff ride. Alot more payload(4400lb) which helps alot for 5th wheeling and haulin. The ride is rougher than the Ram but more capable.

You know I always hear that ford makes the best chassis for there trucks, frame, ball joints actual components under the truck. But ram has a slightly smoother tranny. But honestly what I took from this is if you tow every now and then and what something that’s comfortable and nice on the inside get the ram. But someone like me pulling 8-9k a day year round I want a better put together truck. Plus the ford has the power and the gearing to pull all day every day. And the 7.3 is the icing on the cake I guess. I like both…if I wasn’t pulling 24/7 I would most definitely drive a ram.

Howdy JB! My F250 7.3/4.30 Supercab has a 3300lb cargo capacity w/ a 10k GVWR. I did not spec my truck for max cargo or GVWR, as one can opt for a long bed Supercab gas truck w/ over 4000lb cargo and over 11k GVWR. Of course, the regular cab in any truck will give you more capacity. Ram interior is great, and the ride w/ coils is better. I chose what I chose in order to limit the amount of tech in my truck, as more tech equals more possibility of break-down... on any of the big 3. Let's face it, there is a quality control issue for all 3 truck manufacturers right now. Great video, JB!

For me the extra cab room is a non issue because I rarely haul people back there and when I do they have plenty of room for our use. The Ford is 4 in longer in the cab and the mega cab is 4 in Longer than the Ford. I don’t see why Ram would switch cabs because this gives them a price advantage. And lots of folks buy the mega cab JB. Lol.
Bottom line is Im always excited to jump in and drive my Ram. Does Ford have dual pane windows on their higher models? Does Ford have fast Cab heating and cooling? Also the speaker system in a Ram cuts noise over 58 db in the top models.
Let’s face it they both are incredible trucks. You can’t go wrong. The 7.3l is a beast but the Ram 6.4 is no slouch.
No doubt the Ford looks bigger. Every time I pull next to one my Ram feels little. But I’ll stay w Ram. Adaptive steering is awesome and I like the Sound of a Ram. The 6.4l has some nice tone. Great job on this video JB!

My wife and I have Ram pickups. I drive Fords at work for a goverment owned utility. A Ram Tradesman has better base equipment than the other brands. But that 7.3 motor is awesome! And the 4.30 axle ratio from the factory is great for 35" or 37" tires.
But in my area, the Ram dealer is better. Twice I was in the Ford dealer showroom. They were courteous, but didn't help me buy a vehicle. I went across the street and bought from the Ram dealer. I go vehicle shopping with a folder that has a print out of the 3 vehicles from each brand that I am considering. The Chevy dealer is a very good dealer , with an excellent sales force. I just didn't like what they had on the lot. The Ford salesperson was offended that I had 9 print outs. The Ram salesperson was more than happy to show my wife and I all 3. And after showing us all 3, they asked for the sale!
I bought a 2003 Ford SUV brand new. I still have it. And my son drives it. The only thing that failed on the Explorer, the alternator went out at 170k miles. That salesman asked for the sale. That dealer was in a town that I was doing a work project. They also sold Jeeps, and in the big picture a Grand Cherokee beats an Explorer for use I needed. But the Jeep rebate expired. While the Ford rebate was still good. I needed a 4wd for the snow. And like todays question. I shoulda bought the Ram 2500 Quadcab diesel the month before for the rebate. I still would bought a SUV eventually. But I would still have the Ram today too! Back then, neither gas engine was all that good. Today that Godzilla engine is fabulous! So the real answer is buy the one that best meets your needs. And hopefully you get a good price and good financing (if needed).

Nice video. I agree 100% that each truck brand has their own unique advantages over the other brands and I will add that truck guys especially are brand loyal so at the end of the day it really don’t matter lol.
But since I don’t like either of these two (joking about that, but I am a Chevy guy) I can give a true non biased opinion of both. I’ve drove and rode in both a decent amount (never drove a 7.3) and I can without a doubt say the front passenger side of the Ford is more comfortable to ride than the Ram. It’s because of that hump in the floorboard. I also can say without a doubt that the rear of the Ram is more comfortable to ride in even though it is noticeably smaller. It’s all about the floor board too and how Ford has it raised up to be flat. Add a sunroof to the Ford and it’s terrible. There’s no headroom at all.
I’d take the Ram even though it does have the cylinder deactivation technology. They are a lot better looking trucks in my opinion. I’m not sold on the coil springs being better than leaf’s or even as good as but they seem to do OK and for what I pull they would be fine. Also, the Hemi is a pushrod design engine too. I’m not sure about materials used but it’s a pushrod engine. And since you mentioned the Fords 4 bolt mains, the 6.6 Chevy has 6 bolt mains 😎.

This is sort of unrelated to this video but I watched a TFL review of an F150 King Ranch today with Tommy Micah and he actually mentioned the raised rear floor in the back of the Fords and how it can be uncomfortable for taller people. I'm actually in this very dilemma right now. 35 year Ford guy, but I like the looks of the Ram as well. I'm looking at dually diesels, and you can't find them. I will have to wait till 2023 for the Ford because the order banks are now closed on the 2022's. I drove both diesels (LARIAT and LARAMIE) in the 3/4 version. I could find those. The Ram definitely has the nicer dash, but worse cab. The Ford seemed to handle the bumps nicer, which surprised me a lot. The Cummins exhaust brake is top notch. But the Ford has just ungodly amounts of power. Holy crap. Still don't know. I can order the Ram for this year, but the Allison is coming next year, 10 speed maybe. I don't really want the HO with the AISIN. There is a definite difference in fuel economy between the Ford and the HO. Either way, I'm probably stuck till later this year for either. I might as well wait to see what 2023 brings for both of them. They are both do for some changes. Nice video.

IF the 7.3 had a bulletproof transmission ford would has win the game. The interior on the ram wouldn’t matter as most truck people want performance and reliability over interior if they are using the truck. For a everyday person that doesn’t tow then interior means more. It’s really become a ford vs RAM war and GM really isn’t in the game. It’s clear when you see what people pick work trucks that tow 24 7. You really can’t go wrong with ford but do to the transmission you have to buy the extended warranty where RAM you probably do not have to if you decide not to. I never liked the idea when manufacturers try to build a transmission when they need to leave it to the company’s specializes in it. 4.30’s is not really a win for the ford as gear sets can change is easy if you really want lower gears in the RAM. Transmission is not something you can change.

Idk I like the comparison, I have owned a 2500 and 3500 Ram. And have a lot of friends who have fords. They are pretty trucks. And I think they are a good brand. But facts t of matter to me. No where does ford or Chevy prove their true payload for the actual truck you buy… that being said a cord has. High payload “advertised” but think a single cab basic option work truck is going to have an awesome payload. But once you add the crew or double cab and exotic features you take away from what the frame can handle. Ford and Chevy don’t offer the actual vin payload… only Ram does on their website. Ford say highest payload but for a single cab .. single cab people … they never give you an actual payload for your vin.. .. I see alot beautiful new fords they look tough they adds look touch but sayin ain’t doing .. I never see any old ford trucks. I see alot of old rams. And some old Chevys if you got money to buy the brand. I mean no offense to ford or Chevy owners but please test my payload theory can you find your actual payload vs what Ram won’t lie to you with entering your vin on the website..?

Coil Springs is a better ride in the rear. But under heavier loads coil springs do not perform as efficient as leaf springs. You have too much sway where is a leafspring you do not have as much sway, or carrying capacity. That’s why they added the airbags. Too much shit to go wrong. As far as the mega cab it’s really cool until you look at the bed and you realize you have the bed of a Honda ridgeline. Interior wise the Dodge is nicer but it’s got too many damn buttons. But it is a nicer interior you just don’t have the room. And the power trains are no comparison. Are used to be a dodge guy but after so many breakdowns I bought a 6.7 L power stroke and I absolutely dominate my Dodge friends. But they still try and give me shit lol

I like both trucks, but for me what matters most is the interior. We do long road trips pulling our camper and I only have 1 child so the back seat isn’t that big of a deal. The light grey & tan options for the Ford interior are hideous to me. You have to step up to a Lariat to get a dark interior which puts many people over budget.

I really think i would pick the ford but i cant say that until i see them in person. And i would have to include the chevy as well. Chevy kinda got the yota syndrome and stopped making updates until now and kinda fell outta the conversation because of it. Still a reliable truck overall and capable but same engine and interior for too long and the 6.6L gas is underwhelming imho

Ok JB, I need some help here. I know that for in the future I want a Ford F-350 SRW crew cab 4x4 short bed 4.30 gears 7.3L to tow a fifth wheel (the Forest River Sabre 37FLL) which has a GVWR of like right at 15K. But I am undecided as to which truck I want now to tow a Travel Traiker with (the Forest River Wildwood 31KQBTS) which has a GVWR of like right at 10K. I am undecided if I want the Chevy 2500HD crew cab short bed 3.73 gears 6.6L gas, Ford F-250 short bed crew cab 3.55 gears 7.3L or the Ram 2500 short bed crew cab 4.10 gears 6.4 Hemi. In your opinion which would be better for the TT? Me and my family don’t go camping that often (currently stay in a cabin when we do) and I know that we won’t be going too far as we are buying a house. So for me a diesel just wouldn’t be justifiable right now.
