FINALLY! An QWERTY keyboard in a cockpit! Since the beginning days of having keyboards in cockpits they put a-z ordered keyboards in aircraft (looking at you, Honeywell FMS!) because pilots haven't traditionally been very computer literate. It's nice to see that enough people have grown up learning how to type (thank you Internet!) that we're getting QWERTY keyboards now. USB charge ports are nice too. I could plug both my Stratux ADS-B receiver and ipad directly into the airplane.
If this is the reason GA is dying then why are they by far the number one GA piston plane selling? There are plenty of cheaper options and they can practically count on one hand how many they sell each year.
You're right on, it's been nuts for years. While Cirrus may be popular there are still alot of people with more money than brains. In the 70-80's 100X more planes sold per annum, not so today.
No, GA is dying because GA can't sustain the safety of an aircraft that you fly in. This aircraft is what's going to revive the GA. It costs $500k for the aircraft, $500k for the parachute. You can buy another GA aircraft for $500k but you won't get the avionics, icing fluids, or the parachutes. It's like saying ground transportation is dying because a Rolls Royces is a million bucks. You just won't drive in one, that's all. But with all that said though, This is a rich man's airplane. Not gonna be yours. It's a super nice toy that everyone wishes to have. Just like I wish I have a Tesla or Porsche or Ferrari or my own 737. Guess what? Ain't in my price range so I'll just have dream about it. But I am not going to shoot it down. THAT attitude is what kills GA. I'd applaud Cirrus for coming up with this great (but dang, expensive!) toy.. Too bad tho it's an exclusive club. But, then again, whoever said Porsche is not an exclusive club? Let me ask you this: If you have the money to buy your own Tesla or Porsche... would you take that same money to share with someone's Rolls? or Ferrari?
But in the 70-80's your airplanes were those ones crashing into mountains. Not so much today because of better equipment--but better means money. Why can't people just understand that in THIS life you need to pay for stuff? You can also buy cars in the 70-80's that don't have ABS, or airbags, or even seat belts. I am sure those are a LOT cheaper than today's cars, yes?
very nice airplane and as modern as it can get with all its options. but man with 1 mil I would go turboprop in a heart beat and go twice as fast and high as G6
Although partially correct, a Turbine will cost you 4x as much to own, insure and operate. 1M is crazy. I had a $200K six years ago and worth every penny.
The avionics, as well as the new automation like yaw damper, are really making the stick and rudder nostalgia set in... I wish you could get these with steam gauges :'(
"...buttery leather, usb ports, menus, processors, crisp display, operating system, wireless, Bluetooth pairing, flight stream to mobile device...". This plane doesn't "start" - it powers on, boots up, initializes and greets you. Priced at "Nine Thirty Three". Gulp! It will be a while until my flight school gets one ;)
I love this video and although I don't have a plane ✈️, it ," the cirrus brand"' thus far has lend itself to being from what I've seen so far; the best in prop plane with in its class. I mean how many small prop plane do you see that are retrofitted with so many safety features like the big commercial airliners, for instance , like the tks fluid for fiki situations and you'd also be hard pressed to find one with their unique feature such as their parachute!!!! So yeah. Given the opportunity; I would definitely buy one with all the bells and whistles... I mean what price do you put for the safety of yourself and your loved ones???
Eu espero que a minha sugestão chegue a Cirrus pois aqui no Brasil e em outros Países á AVGAS tem preços altíssimo já o Diesel/Jet A1. O Custo da hora de Voo seria reduzido!
The Chinese (who own Cirrus) will most likely buy out Raptor as soon as it starts taking sales away from them. They have 800 orders already. We will see in a few years time who is right Ken Leonard.
I follow the raptor. I like the raptor. But vaporware applies to three things: political promises, software and future airplanes. Hundreds of planes delivered to customers is real. History shows that until that is met, there is an exceptionally high level of disappointment. It's your money to spend.
I hate that I can barely even afford my mortgage every month. I wish I was in the cool rich guy club to be able to buy something like this. Id love to fly but couldnt even afford the gas.
Yeah, these sorts of videos outperform the most powerful of antidepressants but this is not what flying is for most pilots. I've flown for most of my life, never had much money. Even if I did, this feels like transportation to me, not aviation. A million bucks to fly 200kts with nary a real gauge on my panel? Uh....no thanks 😂 🤣
So for 933k I can get that or for 895 I can get a low time 2008 eclipse 500 for those interested in efficiency (because you burn the same amount of fuel if you burn twice the gas for half the time) or for 625k I can get a 1997 Lear 31A with 3000 cycles and put 300k in up grades on board then have a bed, kitchen, bathrooms and M.88 cruise at FL450 with no masks and Netflix. I’m sorry but you’re better off, if you have this kind of money, buying and building time and confidence in a 206, a used Mooney, or a bonanza then jumping to the jet of your dreams.
The pricing has gone totally out of control. I would never consider these even with the amazing upgrades aimed at creature comfort. The performance is all the same and you have to pay far more to have a place for your headset and a QUERTY keyboard?
While Cirrus makes great planes, 933k for this aircraft is insane! I believe they are beginning to get a bit greedy because their sales have been great and their parachute system makes it even more attractive. As many in the comments section have stated, while the avionics, etc. are nice, this plane falls way short of what I would expect to have in an airplane that will cost over $1 million out the door. Very sad.
yep, TTx is most definitely not pressurized and when you fly both of them there is truly no decision to be made. The Cirrus is lightyears ahead of the TTx and the sales numbers back it up.
If Cirrus still has that stupid spring that pushes the control back to center all the time, that is THE MOST ANNOYING feature I have ever seen on an airplane. I flew one once...never again, it is annoying and keeps you from having crisp control over the airplane. That said, is there an option to remove that stupid thing?
I love the Cirrus always have since I was into aviation. The thing is Ive accepted its a rich mans plane , sure wish they would make a model that’s more affordable. OH well
No doubt Cirrus builds good airplanes. But these are considered the Mercedes benz of GA aircrafts. And just like the most expensive MBs, Cirrus loses its resale value faster than any other airplane in the same price bracket. They can charge a fortune for these airplanes because they've got a powerful marketing machine. For the actual value of what you are paying? Yea way way over priced. The Cirrus jet maybe the only aircraft I can personally say is a good deal for what you get. And the marketing scheme behind parachutes and better avionics = safety is actually not completely true. Talk to any older pilot and they'll tell you that too much avionics/tech contributes to more accidents. Why? Because newer pilots tend to depend more on their screens than flying the airplane. That said, I think the Cirrus brand does a great job in getting more people into general aviation, myself included.
Ive flown both and the sr22 is much more comfortable and the cockpit is is bigger. The da42s wings are so long its hard to find a good hangar for them. Other than that they perform pretty much the same. I think the da42 can carry slightly more. Oh and the da42 air conditioner is no where as good as the 22s
A million for a piston SE?? Take all of that fruity glass out - just a six pack and radio is all you need. Also, for that price, throw in some ashtrays and a box of Montecristos. I´ll buy a goddamn nice yacht instead. It might take longer but it´ll be in millionaire style. One can smoke the aforementioned Montes and sip some cham on the fantail. All shit talk aside, that is the sweetest piston bird I have ever seen! 200kts at 17 GPH is nothing to sneeze at.
damn 1mil for a single piston. lol I would go single turboprop or piston twin for that price. And how to "major improvements" like LED lights and Bluetooth justify that kind of markup oh and it is still fixed gear and non-pressurized. A lancair cost a quarter of that, goes faster, has more range, and you can have $700K left over for fuel.
That's one ignorant and idiotic thing to say. Shows you actually knows nothing about airplanes, engines, and the such. By your intention, why aren't your land-based vehicles (you know what those are, right?) running jet engines? or better, rockets?
Modern ground vehicles all use water cooled engines with electronic fuel injection because air cooled engines with poor fuel management are not only unreliable (which is a big deal in an aircraft), but they're also gas guzzlers. Turbine engines don't make sense in road going vehicles for a number of reasons, but the biggest one would be because turbine engines don't scale down and maintain reasonable fuel consumption rates. That's also the main reason that it's extremely rare to see turbines for aircraft making under 400 hp.
Pocket for my phone.... Sold
Fantastic aircraft. Safest one out there. I am still looming fprward to the day Garmin make a voice interface with the avionics.
Those harnesses are awesome.
This is why GA is dying, 1 mil for a piston single, what a joke. may as well buy a share in a jet, at least then there's a coffee maker
If it was a turbine, it would be ok, but it's a Flintstones piston (not worth a mill).
No, GA is dying because GA can't sustain the safety of an aircraft that you fly in. This aircraft is what's going to revive the GA. It costs $500k for the aircraft, $500k for the parachute. You can get an older twin jet for that price! It's a nice good looking plane, but I couldn't see its benefit even at 250k.
Although partially correct, a Turbine will cost you 4x as much to own, insure and operate. 1M is crazy. I had a $200K six years ago and worth every penny.
exactly if i am going to spend the money i might as well wait a bit longer and buy something better personally i am looking at tbm
wait what ? this srsly costs 1mill ?
So which turboprop you gonna go with? Does it come with a parachute (CAPS)?
The avionics, as well as the new automation like yaw damper, are really making the stick and rudder nostalgia set in... I wish you could get these with steam gauges :'(
42 you can. I recently spotted a 2001 model with steam gauges for 125k, and I wasn't even looking for a used plane.
Wow, just wow, what an awesome aircraft.
So great to see innovation and modernization in type certified airplanes!
Might as well get something with an old pt6 in it
Why the "G" designation? Would think that "C" would be more appropriate. Reminds me of the GS line.
What would make it better is if you could pull the keyboard off the panel and have it on your lap to enter long flight plans.
I wonder what the DA-50 will come in at for price.
more
I would love Cessna to get their 400TT to this level but then again, $930k for a single engine piston is just insane!
I love this video and although I don't have a plane ✈️, it ," the cirrus brand"' thus far has lend itself to being from what I've seen so far; the best in prop plane with in its class. The interior is soft, supple and.. buttery? Lol
How much expensive stuff with ridiculous mark-ups can we stick in this plane and still takeoff?
Eu espero que a minha sugestão chegue a Cirrus pois aqui no Brasil e em outros Países á AVGAS tem preços altíssimo já o Diesel/Jet A1. O Custo da hora de Voo seria reduzido!
E quem vai pagar a certificação?
And a early TBM can be had for about a Mil. Or a RV10 for 1/4 the price.
Beautiful but expensive
They should make a 6-place with max FL of 28,000 to 30,000, a pressurized cabin and optional RG, like the Piper Saratoga II TC.
I will wait for the Raptor!
Does the turbo improve fuel economy, or just add power?
Alexandar Hull-Richter Adds Power... But the real answer is both, depending how you fly the plane.
993k almost a million dollars fully loaded. No more gauges? All digital instrument? What happen if electrical failure occurs?
you have an standby battery as a back up that will last you for about 30 min an also you have your stanby instruments
i think you can special order gauges not 100% on that tho
933k fully loaded ! What ?!?!?!?!
Look out Cirrus, Raptor is coming. Going to be a quarter of that price, pressurised and Fly at least 50knots faster.
Andy McKee - "is coming" is the most meaningless statement in aviation history.
Not really, there is a LOT of interest in Raptor, Cirrus should consider this.
The Chinese (who own Cirrus) will most likely buy out Raptor as soon as it starts taking sales away from them. They have 800 orders already. We will see in a few years time who is right Ken Leonard.

You are not wrong there. FYI I am not one of the deposit holders! I already have two planes :)
Went to your website not easy to follow, for me.
I hate that I can barely even afford my mortgage every month. I wish I was in the cool rich guy club to be able to buy something like this. Id love to fly but couldnt even afford the gas.

Y'all are missing out on a bargain for a G6, the G5 retails for like 50 million. ;-D
LOL $933k for 17GPH non pressurized? ewwww
I'm done with certified aviation. It's a very nice plane but a million dollars it's crazy
Um, it's actually the fifth generation - there was no G4.
Holy Moley!!

1 million for a non-cabin class. Right.
Pete is never wrong
I have a Mirage, fool.
Pete is never wrong
Whatever, troll.
Gorgeous but holy hell pricey. I guess that's the cost of having the latest and greatest.
So we can order one of each color then... yes, great
Francis Molloy the paint cost 35k extra tho.
Big Problem for Cirrus is the price. You could buy loads of Jet time with no work!
Look for it for 300K in 2019...
Found one yet?
The 2017 G6 is holding it's value pretty well in the 700-850K range.
I love it. 933 K is a bit much for me>
While Cirrus makes great planes, 933k for this aircraft is insane! I don't understand why would anyone else go for this high end model rather than Cessna TTx which is pressurized.
Ege Onalp FYI, the TTx is not pressurized.
yep, TTx is most definitely not pressurized and when you fly both of them there is truly no decision to be made. The Cirrus is lightyears ahead of the TTx and the sales numbers back it up.

you have a customer when i retire from the airforce.
The DA62 is a much better deal.
No doubt Cirrus builds good airplanes. But these are considered the Mercedes benz of GA aircrafts. Interesting they went with a QWERTY keyboard.
at that price I'd go with the Diamond DA42
Ive flown both and the sr22 is much more comfortable and the cockpit is is bigger. The da42s wings are so long its hard to find a good hangar for them. Other than that they perform pretty much the same. I think the da42 can carry slightly more. Oh and the da42 air conditioner is no where as good as the 22s

You can buy a ready-made one nearly new for a fraction of the price.
One. Million. Dollars.....for a piston single.........
Price for 933k, Excuse me? nice aircraft but so pricy !!
Only 933k, I take one.
i think that cirrus need to make a bigger model for 6 place seating and a more power full engine
Why not spend the extra 300k and just get a Jet
Ruben You clearly haven’t looked at jet prices these day let alone operating costs.
Obnoxiously expensive - I'd take a TTx or even a Meridian any day!
Black Dog I would say it does, especially given the similar price point
Super modern until you look under the cowl and find a giant lawnmower engine.
idontcare80. your ignorance doesnt impress anyone.
You'd have to be completely ignorant of engine technology to consider something like this to be modern.
That's one ignorant and idiotic thing to say. Shows you actually knows nothing about airplanes, engines, and the such. By your intention, why aren't your land-based vehicles (you know what those are, right?) running jet engines? or better, rockets?

20 years and 300+% price inflation. Gotta love central bank money printing...
Utterly soulless aeroplane. Grey aircraft for grey people with money.
obnouxiously over priced
