  • Struggling with snow photography settings is absolutely normal, but it doesn't have to be this way! Here's a load of handy tips for shooting in snow, getting the correct white balance, exposure and more for your winter photography goals. This winter we've had NO snow at all so far, so I haven't been able to make this video - finally, it came and it laid so off we went!
    I wanted to just wizz through the main snow photography tips without focussing too much on actual portrait settings. For portrait photography settings, head here: • DOG PHOTOGRAPHY | Stun...

    Thanks for doing this video. I am a big fan. I have been shooting horses in the snow for years and I found to make the Snow White I up my exposure compensation to 1+ or 2+ depending on the light that way you can keep the shutter speed higher for action.

    Was in Dundee, Aberdeen and Oban Dec last year (2022). Will visit again this Dec (2023) and will try the tips you shared. Let’s hope it doesn’t get too cold this year. From 🇧🇳

    You made me smile so much because you were an absolute kid in a candy store with the snow. It was like our dogs and myself because we got around 16 cm and it has stayed for days. We haven't had that in the Netherlands for 45 years haha. I am still figuring out how to edit my snow photos because well don't have much experience with that hahahahaha

      We were very lucky to get a good amount, it was too good an opportunity to not go out and shoot in it! Probably won't be any for another 10 years now!

      It's just something we use to help us record the videos, it doesn't add anything to the video.

    You know, every time I think my dogs are good and trained for photography, I see someone else do it leagues better 😂Very good photos! Usually the pictures of my aussie comes out gorgeous and on point because the contrasts better against the snow and my camera likes that but my border collie looks very dull in his photos. I suspect it's because the snow is so bright and he's a blue merle that my camera is like "yes, everything is grey and drab!" I cry lol.

      They are two different settings on the Sony cameras so I’m not 100% sure to be honest 🤷‍♀️

    I didn't catch why you chose the low continuous instead of high continuous....

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  3 роки тому +2

      I switched in this instance from single shot to low continuous which is my normal portrait setting. Pippi and I were playing and it bumped a load of settings out! Single shot is too restrictive for me working with animals, but for portraits, all i'd get with 10fps high continuous is umpteen copies of the exact same enormous file. Low continous allows me to ensure my camera refocusses between shots, but lets me keep my finger held on the shutter. Hope this makes sense!

    • @Stubby1031
      @Stubby1031 3 роки тому +1

      @@ThatPhotographySpot ohhhh yes! That makes complete sense!! I'll have to give that a try too. Thank you so much for explaining, really appreciate it! :)
