Thank you my friend glad you enjoyed the video! I believe us solo war gamers are more than we think and we should try to help each other with ideas in order to improve the fun within our games. Thank you for watching and commenting my friend!
I totally agree, I am lucky enough to have regular opponants but do also play a lot of solo games. Another advantage is being able to leave a game when time or real-life intervenes and come back to it later. Also you can play when you want . . . I've been known to have a quick game at 2-3:00 in the morning ! Great vid, Happy New-Year :)
😂😂😂 3:00 am ??? I have not reached that stage yet dear Ray but I think when my son gets older and sleeps later for sure it is a good idea!! Some piece and quite while playing. The good think with Solo gaming is as you mention time. You can start any time you want stop it , pick it up later and also you can make it as one sided or difficult for one army as you please..;) Thank you for watching my friend!
You made very good points there! Solo gaming can be very enjoyable and it can have more room for creativity than a regular game with an opponent. The worst thing for me about solo gaming is that I am the one who has to remember all the rules and with my memory... the games become approximations of the thing I am trying to play.
Thank you dear Lazzy! Tell me about it..imagine how the situation worsens when at the same time you have to shoot a video for UA-cam..😂😂😂 I think I loose 2-3 kilos after every battle report. Thank you for watching my friend!
Well done, Nik. I agree with everything you mentioned. Unpredictability is a very important element to SOLO play - and I have devised many ways of incorporating it more in all my games. Well done. ~K
Thank you dear Kurt glad you enjoyed the video my friend!! Obviously you are my inspiration and light years ahead from all of us regarding the mechanics you use for your solo battles! Especially with your RPG background..I would be very interested to discuss them one day. Thank you for watching my friend!
I used to say "I'll never be a solo wargamer cuz thats so sad" then i realised im the only one into historical wargaming around here so ive been a solo wargamer since then
Ohhh I believe we are more than we realise and it is good to help each other with ideas to improve our games!Thank you for watching and commenting my friend!
This is a really informative and thoughtful video. I think a lot of us do quite a lot of solo wargaming due to a large variety of circumstances, so its helpful when other gamers share their ideas for gaming alone. Thank you for a wonderful channel.
Thank you dear Anthony glad you enjoyed the video my friend!! I believe us solo gamers are more than we think and it is good to help each other with practical ideas that can improve our games! Thank you for watching and commenting my friend!
Great video, as always! Nice to see someone actually giving practical advice on how to make solo games more interesting. Usually it's just "Play both sides" and "Make some stories on the table" or something like that. Also, William Silvester's book is amazing, it has really affected my solo wargaming experience. One of the mechanics in his book that I use in is giving leaders competency ratings. 1 being basically a fool, and 6 being a great tactician. I've added some similar traits, like bravery and greed. During a battle I assign leaders to some units, and their actions are determined by rolling a dice and comparing it to the leaders traits. For example a brave leader will charge his troops into more veteran enemy more easily, and a cowardly one might even flee when give an charge order. A competent leader can make some actions for free if he rolls well, and greedy officer will usually rush to enemy's baggage train if there is no enemies standing between them, leaving the rest in trouble.
Thank you my friend glad you enjoyed the video my friend!! I believe us solo gamers are more than we think and it is good to help each other with practical ideas that can improve our games! I totally agree with you the book is amazing and has some great and very innovative mechanics for solo battles and campaigns. Leader traits is always a good Start for a Solo battle! Thank you for watching my friend!
Thank you my friend glad you enjoyed the video! I think so too. I believe SOLO wargamers are much more out there than people think. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Очень интересное и познавательное видео! А в Войне баронов вы будете использовать "искуственный интелект" в стратегической части(действия на карт кампании)?
Your channel is an inspiration to anyone who wants to try solo gaming ... I have regular opponents but always feel that the narrative you can build when playing a solo game is better in many ways , also I nearly always paint up armies for both sides so it's a shame not to use all my figures ! 😊 Over the last year I have played more and more solo games and really enjoyed them , and as You rightly say card driven games are excellent for this and again provide that important narrative .. You can do different types of scenarios and add house rules which sometimes an opponent will not be happy about playing I would say to anyone try solo gaming there is a lot of fun to be had 😊 Cheers Nick ...
Thank you Dear Ray glad you are enjoying the channel content! For sure Solo gaming has its benefits and by shooting videos like that we help each other pick up ides that might improve our own games. Yes I believe too that card driven games help a lot as one does not really need to innovate anything in the rule set as cards already provide unpredictability by themselves. Thank you for watching and commenting my friend!
You can also go into various solo rpg oracle mechanics and simulate commander behavior. Sketch out their personality and ask questions: Will he hesitate or press forward in this situation? Which target is he going to prioritize? Are the men motivated, healthy, sickly, fatigued? Depends on how granular you want to get.
You make a great point there Matt! Although I am not familiar with RPG games I am sure there are mechanics one can use to bring life to the characters on the battlefield and add a solo aspect to the game!Great idea! Thank you for watching my friend!
Being a solo wargamer myself, this was a very thoughtful and insightful video. Thanks for sharing your tips, tricks and thoughts on this, Nick!
