I wish more tourists from the US would go further north. I have lived in Scotland for 30 years first in Argyll then Caithness and am now in Moray. Each area has stunning countryside and amazing historical sites. Moray is famous for its distilleries, Caithness for its coastline, Argyll for just being stunning! Then there are the islands further north, Shetland is an experience and Orkney ... well Orkney is wonderful. The history there is mindblowing, from the Ring of Brodga to Skara Brae wow, just wow. There is a sandstone cathedral on Orkney which was built by the Vikings in the 9th century I believe.
We definitely want to return soon and head further north! We have Shetland and Orkney at the top of our bucket list! Maybe you’d like to check out our Scotland series and let us know what you think? 😊
Thanks for your awesome video, so pleased you enjoyed our country... We have a reputation for being a welcoming nation, I really hope you come back some day.... Love you guys
Very glad that you enjoyed my country, hope you come back. Just a wee bit of information about Loch Ness, there is more water in Loch Ness than in all the lakes and rivers in England and Wales combined. Also, there are over 34,000 lochs and lochans in Scotland.
@TheOakFam..nice to meet you and GREAT video. My family and I just did Scotland at the beginning of October and you're right it is an amazing place. We actually did Scotland, Ireland and London over the course of 10 days. We were in Scotland for three days and definitely want to go back. I posted my videos of the trip and it's really getting some traction. The most views are from the Scotland outing. We did a full day tour of the Scottish Highlands so when I watched your video, it just brought back the excitement of seeing those places. You guys are great and absolutely loved your video. You had and some great shots in it. Gonna watch the others now. Keep'em coming.
Glad you had a good time in my country. I enjoyed your enthusiasm and destination choices. Apart from just one day in Edinburgh. I was pleased to hear that you intend to come back and stay longer. Good call. My girlfriend is from OH and she loves Edinburgh. Safe travels. 😊
I'm from Perth, about 70 miles from Glasgow and Glaswegians have told me i say Glasgow wrong, which i'm sure i don't!? Glaz not Glass and go not gow? If that's not right then i don't know what is? I've also had a Glaswegian say anyone that lives north of Glasgow is a grouse (small game birds which the rich lords flood their ridiculous sized estates with to then charge rich Italians inordinate amounts of money to murder them in the autumn. Pheasants more so but he didn't call me that,) So this Glaswegian with a big smile on his face said "you live north of Glasgow your'e a grouse" his big beaming smile still on his face till i told him that if he'd been born around 30 miles further south he'd be English, He didn't like that one bit...
i also personally don't care if foreigners get pronunciations wrong, how often do we even try when we're on holiday? Exactly, we, for the most part don't, we just automatically expect everyone to speak English so extra extra points to the op of the vid for their pronunciation and extra points for the op of this thread for being Scottish...🙂
Hi thanks for coming over to Scotland and enjoying yourself. I come from Glasgow, Scotland. Take care 😘🏴 Haste ye back. Alba Gu Braith - Scotland is great.
You seemed to have missed a trick at the Old Man of Storr! Another 5 -10 minutes further the view is amazing looking back. Saying that id recommend proper hiking gear because it can get extreme quite quick. No judging, just recommending.
Shame you didn't make it over to the Outer Hebrides. you can catch the ferry from Skye to the Isle of Harris. It's a truly beautiful place. White sandy beaches, looking over to mountains & aqua green seas.
I would say if you are making another trip to Edinburgh, the 2 best times to go are 1) August you have 2 festivals going on at the same time, The Edinburgh International Festival & The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2) New Year aka Hogmanay, which is a festival in its self
Wish we had more time to do more exploring! There were several places on Skye I wish we could've seen. There is never enough time in a place like this!
I am 65 years old and I've lived in Scotland my entire life, although I have travelled to many other countries including the USA. In a single lifetime it is almost impossible to explore Scotland in its entirety. For such a small country it has so much natural beauty and history crammed within it. I continue to explore it and continue to be enthralled by it. Haste ye back!
Brady: 25% Spanish, 50% Scottish, rest is English/Welsh, Danish with a hint of Native American (according to DNA) Maddie: Mostly German with some Scottish and English
Well done guys, but you have only scratched the surface of Scotland! Just a pity it took Harry Potter films to get the world interest in our wee country! Haste ye back!
As a non Scot, living in Scotland, I have to compliment you pronunciation of Glenfinnan, Glasgow and Edinburgh, have to work on the loch though! The islands are much more religious than the rest of us, hence shut on a Sunday, and if you visit again, most shops will give you cash back on your card. This means you can buy something and then ask for money as well. This is quite handy is you are short of funds. Pubs, hotels and many shops will do this free, when you go to the till. Below is a song by the Corries about Portree. You might just recognise the tune? The Corries. "The Portree Kid." ua-cam.com/video/pUaqkp2xMzY/v-deo.html
So many Americans get the place name pronunciation’s wrong, so well done to you, 10/10 😊, love your enthusiasm for our country 🏴😍
Woo! Glad we did ok!
We loved Scotland so much! Perhaps you’d like to check out our Scotland series and let us know what you think? Only if you’d like 😊
@@MariaOliviaTravel i have seen your Culloden video, very good history research👍🏻
Just so you know the piper was playing "highland cathedral" EPIC PIPE TUNE
As a Scotsman i'm so happy that you enjoyed my country.
Can't wait to get back!
Can't wait to get back to the US? Don't blame you.@@TheOakFamTravel

We to Scotland on a 2 week tour. Was fantastic!
I'm still in shock to hear you guys say Glasgow perfectly. Great video, Scotland always pulls out magic when you least expect it.

Glencoe and the Three sisters is a beautiful area. Fish and Chips looked delicious. 👍
Not sure if any one told you but it isn't Lake Loch Ness, just Loch Ness, Loch meaning lake. Scotland is stunning
I made sure to correct it right after we had said the lake part first lol.

Love the fact that your pronounce Edinburgh decently. Most Americans butcher it! So kudos to you.
Ah thanks!!!! We are trying!
Pronunciation SPOT ON 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Come back and spend more time!!!
Well done guys! You really did us Scots proud!! Perhaps ditch the high top Chelsea boots and trainers next trip?
Need bigger suitcases next time lol
Really good footage but I can't believe you never filmed Eilean Donan Castle. Unless you got the ferry. And congrats on getting the names right...✌
Shame you didn't make it over to the Outer Hebrides. you can catch the ferry from Skye to the Isle of Harris. It's a truly beautiful place. White sandy beaches, looking over to mountains & aqua green seas.

Love the video!
If you ever get back to Scotland you have go for a hill walk, bring proper boots and waterproof jacket.
Also be prepared to be stunned by the views.
Without doubt, the chip shop in Portree make the best fish and chips in Scotland.
Can't beat that view too!
Nice one .a wee bit short though .
Lake Loch Ness !. That's like saying Lake Lake Ness. The word Loch means lake in Scotland.
I'm getting married next May at Loch Awe, next May.
congrats!
Isn't there a ancient site on the Isle of skye an old 45000 settlement human something Brey .?

What you're looking for is Skara Brae. It's on Orkney, not Skye.
Scotland is the dugs baws neebur. This is the most American thing I have ever seen.
You should have tried the vegetarian haggis , you get the taste but not awful stuff that goes into haggis 🤢
Next time! lol
I want to tour all the scotch distilleries and try all the scotch!
No midges??
at least a billion lol - they were no joke
I was always wondered who the pipers were for at tourist places. Turns out if it's for Americans. Who knew?
I think everyone knew 😂
👍🏴😎
Theres more water in Loch Ness than ALL the English and Welsh lakes put together......deep...very deep.....just ask Nessie
Fantastic video, I hope you had a wonderful time.

Always wanted to visit Scotland as I am roughly 49% Scottish!
why didn't you use a cash machine when you ran out of cash?
We did lol

Thanks for the advice! We did manage to find a cash machine not too far away- just not used to so many cash only places!
Lake = Loch so not Lake Loch Ness
Yep that's why I corrected it right away in the video
Top marks for pronouncing Edinburgh correctly.
there was a guy doing a pee upsstrean
Scotland 🏴 can only get better one we have gained our independence alba shaor a nis
Fresher than Desani🤣🤣🤣. Desani got banned in the UK
So I was technically right then 😂😂
it is the Jacobite train look down and you will see a monument to clans who fought and died for SCOTLAND, we are sick of this english womans crap.
Never drink water in the wild without filtering, parasite city! Advice from a hiker!
Comedy eyelashes )))
Please work on saying "like" less often.
Scottish food is an oxymoron 😀
If you mean it's appalling just say so.
Really enjoyed this video, well done on the pronunciations as well. Subbed and hope to see you back here soon
Can't wait!
