Man oh man.. What could have cost me $460 ended up costing me only $8. Thanks to the power of UA-cam and your video Trent. I really appreciate the time you took to make this and made it so clear. If I ever see you in person lunch and beers are on me!
Now 4-1/2 years later and this video is still useful. My 2010 F-150 Lariat looks _exactly_ like your truck with black leather and the same rubber floor mats -- and even the same button, same side was non-operational. The only difference was my seat was stuck all the way reclined and yours was all the way up. I sprayed all the buttons and worked them back and forth, let the unit dry for a half hour or so, plugged it in and it worked perfectly. Thank you so much for posting this and saving me a hundred bucks.
I searched for some help with this on some forums and got nowhere. I was at the point of bringing it to the dealership. I searched one more time and found your video. Thank you for posting this!!! Thanks to you my passenger seat reclines again. Thank you
Thank you soooo much, it was so easy to follow too! Stereotypical girl here, zero knowledge about cars! I was able to follow along and get my seat unstuck in a matter of minutes! You probably saved me thousands at the dealership! Thank you thank you thank you!!
The passenger seat in my F250 has been tilted all the way forward for 3 weeks! My 5-foot-7, thirteen year-old son has to ride over there folded up like a pretzel to and from school every day because the backseat is full of his little brothers in booster seats. I'm sure we look ridiculous pulling into the elementary school drop-off zone. Both of the repair shops that I took my truck to said it would cost about $400 to replace the board because they couldn't fix or replace just the switch. Yesterday my friend suggested I search online for a how-to video. I had no hope in that plan but I found your video and thought it was worth a try. This morning I spent $8.00 on some QD spray and tonight I FIXED MY TRUCK SEAT! All by myself! And for only eight bucks! :D Thank you, thank you! (My husband especially thanks you!) ;) XO
Awesome tip. You just saved me a bundle. My seat was stuck in the total recline position. I found your video, and fixed my truck in 5 minutes and didn't spend a cent!
My Mitsubishi Outlander had the same problem...not inclining forward... followed all your steps and now Im back in driving position. That was hard with the seat stuck all the way back. Thank you Trent's DIY. You are the man!!! Sprayed it with battery cleaner...worked the switches...blew compressed air to evaporate and blow away the cleaner. Control returned! Bingo!!!
Thanks for the tip. We are on vacation and my wife's seat reclined all the way back. The parts store all said it would take 3 days to get the new switch. With 12 hours of driving left that was not going to work. Found this vid and it worked perfectly. Thanks so much. It was a vacation saver.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. Personally, I'm glad you're not a listener or we'd all still be stuck with this problem. I just fixed it today and my husband thinks I'm a genius 😅🤣. Best advice and tutorial ever!!!
Thanks so much Trent! Our 2010 Ford Expedition's front passenger seat was stuck in the fully recline position. I found your video this morning, ran to AZ to pick up a can of QD electrical cleaner ($10.99+tax) and ran home to complete the job. The seat panel is a little different on the Expedition, including requiring the removal of a T-20 torx head screw, but the rest was identical to your F-150. 10 minutes later, I had everything buttoned up and the switch worked like new! Seat operates perfectly! Thanks again for a great video
2011 F-150, kids leaned the passenger seat all the way back and that’s where it stuck. A quick trip to the local auto parts store and $10 bucks for the cleaner and we’re back in business. Worked like a champ, thanks for posting!
You beautiful bastard! I can confirm this worked on my 2013 Ford Edge. Had been having the issue for about a year, where it would go back, but often not forward, until recently when it stopped going forward altogether. I knew it couldn't be a fuse because it made no sense for a switch to work at all with a bad fuse. Ran to Walmart and grabbed some CRC QD electronics cleaner (in the auto section by the intake cleaners and other auto sprays) for $5, opened up and sprayed the switch, toggled the switch a few times, let it dry for about 10 minutes, and it worked. Thank you for posting this! Only wish I had seen is sooner.
I had problems with the switch before , but now it was broken permanently. After watching this video it worked like brand new again. Thank you brother !
I was quoted almost $400 to fix this problem. Your video is fantastic! I'm not a super handy guy either but this was an easy fix. I was done in 15 minutes. Thank you for saving me a ton of money!!
Great video. I just tried this process on my 2013 F150 Lariat and it worked. Pulled it out in under a minute, sprayed it as you said and waited to install it the following morning. Once I plugged it in, bam seat switch works 100% . Thank again for a great video.. I did order the same CDC spray on Amazon.
Gotta say thank you man! looked into fixing mine and the part was so expensive....thought i would try this video out first and it worked! a $6 fix that could have been $200! ou saved the day with this video! Cheers!
Dude I can’t say thank you enough!!! My passenger seat would also not recline on my 2010 F150 Raptor. I already had the electrical contact cleaner, just took that bad boy apart, sprayed her down, blew it dry and now it works like a champ!!!! Thank you!!!! 👍🤘🤘
You sir are amazing. My driver side went out blew the fuse the fourth one down like a 7.5 so I put a bigger fuse in and the motor worked everything works. Now I’m gonna go back clean those switches and see if that works. This is the first video I’ve seen anybody do the same thank you
Thanks for the video. Ordered the part off Amazon for $24 and it took 5 min to fix. Dealership said it would be $70 to diagnose and another shop said I needed a whole new seat lol.
This video was very helpful! The passenger seat in my 2010 F150 had the exact same issue, where the seat would recline but wouldn't go back up. This was one of the first videos that I watched. I followed every step, and it worked like a charm. Thank you!
You are the man! Thanks for saving me a trip to the dealer and a ton of money. Cost me $10 for the cleaner. Only thing I wish you were more clear on was the removal process. I broke one of the two tabs on the cover. But it was easier than I thought. Felt like I was driving Miss Daisy with my gf in the back seat. 😁👍
I know this is an old video, but thank you Trent. You just saved me $150. The switch in my '06 Mustang would not move the seat forward. But, it does now thanks to you.
My passenger seat on my explorer was having the same issue, the seat was tilted forward. Came across your video. I did the exact same thing and works like new saved me money. Thank you brother 🙏
Electric spray cleaner worked!!!! So my 2014 F150 FX4 passenger seat was not tilting back, even though it did all the other functions. First I disconnected the power underneath the seat because I didn't want to accidentally push the tilt button forward in case this trick didn't work. You really have to push the black plastic tab up hard, right behind the grey swing arm, in order to drop the grey swing arm to removed the power. Once disconnected, I popped off the 2 necessary seat adjustment control buttons and followed your directions from there. Thank you !!!
you just spray the stuff on top of the switch? that’s crazy how well that works. i feel like all these comments are fake there’s no way that spray can fix it
@@tristanfallis6699 It 100% worked and still works right now. Just like in the video. You just have to spend the time carefully taking it all apart. Better than spending $165 per hour at the dealership and then having them tell you to replace the whole board switch.
Absolutely magnificent!!!!!! Thank you so much. I shall be giving this fix a go tomorrow morning 5:30 am sharp and I shall let you know how she goes. I cannot thank you enough for this amazing piece of useful, free information!!!!!!!!!
@@samueltejeda2886 IT went fantastic. Just like the he did in the video. I used MAF sensor cleaner instead because that was all I had, but the result was the same. I believe it took me about seven minutes from start to reassembly and testing. Highly recommend this fix! Good luck!
My Man. I gave it a try and it worked. First go aroumd it didnt work. Then i tried it again. I sprayed the hell outta WD 40 electrical spray (not regular wd40) and it worked. Thank you. Also the part on Amazon is $18 in 2024. I appreciate your video. Boom
2013 F 350 platinum- this worked for me. Passenger seat went forward and wouldn’t come back. After some work with a meter, I tried this and and it all works perfectly now. Thank you
It totally worked for us. We couldn't find the exact module. Before this fix, we were able to take the driver's side off and adjust the passenger seat with the drivers side module.
DUDE! I have a 2012 f250 doing this same thing and I bought some qd electric cleaner literally last week for my trailer connection. I tried this and it worked!
Thanks so much for sharing. I just tried the very steps you covered on my 2013 Ford Explorer and IT WORKED!!! My driver's side seat reclines upward now after connecting the switch back again. Much appreciated
Nice video trent. I didnt see how you removed the switch in the first place but seems like you might have just pried off the bottom first. Thanks for sharing.
I just did this and it worked! I had to do it a few times though so don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work the first time. I would just spray it at first but then I sprayed and moved the switch at the same time and that’s when it started to work!
Thanks for the video. The passenger seat on my 2013 F-350 was stuck in the recline mode. I followed your suggestions and the seat works like new again!
My electric seat button (for the back) stop working, it will only go backwards but not forward. So I got on UA-cam and your video was the first one that I saw and I went ahead and removed everything cleaned it and guess what it worked!! Didn’t spend no money only took like 10 min!! Thank you so much for your video !!

Thank you, you saved me alot of $$$ being doing this simple procedure... I went out and purchased a can of electrical contact cleaner CRC and cleaned all those contacts just like you said... Again, Thank you and I'm so glad I researched this and was able to fix it... Have a good day Sir... robinleecomptonsr.
Just fixed my passenger side seat in my 09'. It would decline but not incline. A couple of squirts of contact cleaner and she is back to normal. Thanks!
Realize this is an older video, but taking a chance you can help. Have a 2012 F150, and the driver seat will move one side forward, but this other side stays stationary. All the other seats controls work. Is there a way to determine if its the motor or switch without taking a bunch of stuff apart?
If it's the same switch that moves in one direction, but not the other, it's the same motor -- therefore, the motor works and the switch is not reversing the motor's direction, so I'd lean toward dirty switch contacts. However, without seeing it, I couldn't say for sure.
@@davegood3986 What ended up being the issue and fix solution? This literally happened to me this morning. Asymetric movement (only the right side) of the driver's side forward or backward. Thanks in advance for any info you can share!
This must be a known issue with ford. I have a 2017 ford expedition and the middle ine wont go down. Thank you for this video i will definitely try this first!
I’m having the same problem with the driver seat of my 2017 CMax which issues basically the same switch assembly.. I’m going to give this a try and comment back..
I’m having an issue with the incline and decline of my driver side seat of my 2014 Ford Escape. Should this help fix ? The other switches work. It’s just the incline and decline that’s not working
I got a 2014 Ford F-150 same problem wouldn’t recline forward or move the seat forward on the passenger side just would go back both ways did all the steps and for some reason it’d work for a bit then stop it kept doing it then when I put it all together and it did the same thing I was having the same problem and what would you recommend doing?
Thank you for the video. I actually used isopropyl alcohol and blew it out with compressed air. Then waited for it to dry. It worked again after plugging it in.
ok I did it! and the fix worked. I didn't have the kind of cleaner trent suggested, so I used MAF cleaner and it did the trick. Now I don't have to listen to the wife complain....at least about the seat anyway. Thank you very much for this awesome video!
I thought the same thing, then applied a little more pressure and they came off. If you're concerned they'll break, I guess your options are: pry harder and hope they don't, then if they do, buy new covers; pay Ford or a mechanic an insane amount of money to replace the module, but at least if they break the covers, it's on them and not you.
My driver seat is heated. The button for it is on my dash just below the a/c buttons. I can push the button to turn on the best for my seat and it will come on for a second then go right back off. Any suggestions on what it could be? I checked for a fuse but can’t find a fuse for it. Can find the one for the passenger side but not the driver
Thank you for your video :) It's 2:14 with nothing to do (LOL) went to Walmart and bought the CRC QD Electronic Cleaner ($4) and fixed the seat control...I just wished you put a video taking apart the control buttons (They pop out with a bit of pressure) Thanks again
Glad the solution worked for you. :) Thanks for the feedback. I'm really trying to up my video-quality game and make DIY videos full-time, so any and all advice is appreciated. @@davegood3986 What ended up being the issue and fix solution? This literally happened to me this morning. Asymetric movement (only the right side) of the driver's side forward or backward. Thanks in advance for any info you can share!
Thanks dude the best of the videos easy to follow the steps through the explanation
Do you recommend me doing to my truck if it goes back but doesn't come back up??
If it were me, I'd give it a go...
How do you remove the panel cover without breaking the clips?
The Captain very carefully 😬
I’m having an issue with the incline and decline of my driver side seat of my 2014 Ford Escape. Should this help fix ? The other switches work. It’s just the incline and decline that’s not working
Thank You for the video! This fix worked! 10min and done. Money saved, impressed the girl!
Glad it helped!
Yes! Thank you! This fixed my passenger seat. Took me 20 minutes start to finish.
Excellent!
Thanks for this! Seat would tilt back but not up in my 2012 fusion and this fixed it.
Would battery terminal cleaner work for this?
Thank you for the video. I actually used isopropyl alcohol and blew it out with compressed air. Then waited for it to dry. It worked again after plugging it in.
I will try this on my 2007 sportrac 4.6, I'll keep you posted weather it work or not. Thanks
Thank you for this video!! Have been trying to fix this damn seat for months! Thank you Trent for the great video, very clear and helpful!
ok I did it! and the fix worked. I didn't have the kind of cleaner trent suggested, so I used MAF cleaner and it did the trick. Now I don't have to listen to the wife complain....at least about the seat anyway. Thank you very much for this awesome video!
I'm leary. How do the switch covers come off? I'm gently prying and they don't won't to POP off. Is there a trick?
I thought the same thing, then applied a little more pressure and they came off. If you're concerned they'll break, I guess your options are: pry harder and hope they don't, then if they do, buy new covers; pay Ford or a mechanic an insane amount of money to replace the module, but at least if they break the covers, it's on them and not you.
@@toat , more force was the answer. Two screwdrivers prying up at the same time. I just needed to get past the pucker factor. Thanks for the help.
Underwood0218, hey... not sure. But, if I hear of anything, or if it happens to me and I find the problem, I’ll report back 🙂
Thank you! It worked on my truck saved some money thank you for the video👍
if my memory pre sets on the driver side both work, but none of the other buttons do. and the fuses are also fine, this means the switch is bad?
where do you actually spray the cleaner on?
Thank you, bud!! Saved me $$ and heartache!
Thank you for this video it help a lot and saved me some serious money!
Hi thanks great vid how long did you let it dry before putting it back in the seat
just a few minutes. It evaporates quickly.
Can you use WD-40 or do you recommend that circuit spray?
Awesome. 10 minutes and 10 bucks. Thank you
Thanks! Saved me 90 bucks. Worked just like yours did.
In a couple years, when my channel has millions of subs and my goal of "fixing the world" one broken thing at a time, you can look back and say, "I was one of his first comments" ;)
where exactly did you spray that cleaner?
