    I like your teaching style….strong; articulate presentation. The board was simple yet lovely. I want to learn more about decorative items with food safe surfaces. I will keep watching.
    Thanks!

    Hi Amy,
    The flower motif is pretty. Glad you emphasized the need to make it food safe and use water base paint because it is food safe. Great tip to tape the motif where it is close to the edge. Good to know you could use hemp oil to seal your paint and wood because it is food safe. You are so knowledgeable about paints and finishes. Thanks for sharing your video. Love, kindness and happiness, Teresa

    Thank you so much! It's been impossible to find trustworthy answers about food-safe sealant (and some products marketed as such don't seem very safe). Can't wait to give this a try.

    This is such a neat project! My husband is the charcuterie king in our family, but he doesn’t have any real boards to use. This is a great idea to make one for him. Thanks so much for your tutorial!😀

      Thank you Mary Lou :) I get so many questions as to how to finish a project and have it be Food Safe, so I did this video to help everyone out. I can't wait to use this next time we have company over to our house :)

    I'm so glad you did this video! One question: the used ones, like you get at a thrift store, is sanding the only difference?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  2 роки тому +4

      With a thrift store one, I would clean it really well before giving it a little sanding... but otherwise its the same process.

    Love this video! I think I’m a little late to the party but I have a question! Would the hemp oil work if the board needs to be washed? I making a custom charcuterie board for a friend and I wanted to put a stencil on it… But we all know how messy charcuterie boards can be and it’s going to need to be rinsed with water. Thank you!

    My understanding is that just about all wood finishes are food safe once they're fully cured.

    Once you get it sealed with the hemp oil, how do you go about cleaning it when it needs cleaning? I have never used one but have bought several to make and wanted to be able to use them but also needed to know how to clean them 😂😂

    Hi Amy, I have a question on care. Can this be washed after the hemp oil has cured? And will it need to be resealed after each washing?

    Hi Amy!! LOVE this!!! If I wanted to put some transfers on, what would the sraling process look like to still keep it food safe?
    Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!!

      Transfers do not like oil, so its difficult to make them technically Food Safe. The only true food safe sealer is hemp oil, but if you want to put a transfer on then you have to use a water based polyacrylic sealer which are not considered food safe. That's why I did a stencil on this and not a transfers.

    What would you recommend for wood coasters with chalk paint design on top? Wanting water protection and heat protection.

    Hi Amy, do I need to reseal with the hemp oil each time I use it?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  2 роки тому +1

      No, you don't have to reseal after each use. Hemp Oil is very durable and you may see your wood getting a dull appearance after frequent washing and only at that time you would need to refresh it. It all depends on products you use to clean it and how often. I may update mine once a year.

    Is satin clear coat an option? Food safe too?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  2 роки тому

      Hemp Oil is classified as food safe, and regular clear coats are not. If I'm going to be prepping food or having raw food sitting on the surface, then I recommend using the Hemp Oil.
