The whole thing with Liu Bei visiting Zhuge Liang thrice was a great show of humility and respect.
I suspect there are some Characters that are more easily to recruit to your faction if you are a virtues ruler who holds his agreements, doesn´t plunder Citys make fair duels and the like, while others might be more inclinend to join if you do the opposite. Being Ruthless tyrannt who plunders and betrays could be a good Liege Lord for people who like to carry out such things. It feels a bit like the righteous and fearsome traits from medieval 2 is returning.
Zhuge Liang was a brilliant tactician skilled in ambush and open warfare on varied terrains. However, he was not proficient in leading troops in siege warfare. This explains why the kingdom of Shu made little territorial gains. They could defend, but they could not expand. He also launched several failed campaigns against Wei in Northern expeditions, partially due to supply issues with magistrates who plotted against him. Han Xin of the Chu-Han Contention was a better strategist. He turned the same area of Shu into a supply trove, then went on to conquer the restored lands of Zhao and Qi, which would have been the same lands as Wei.
Zhuge Liang was a better politic and inventor, he leaded with another area but was an strategist like Leonardo da Vinci. Li Yan was the military guy that time, it is said that Li Yan was charged with the Grand Commander jobs
I regret that I cannot play this game due to my PC being a potato. As a player of the Warriors games, and the ROTK games on the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, I will have to wait until I can play it. One day, this game will be mine, but until that time, enjoy this game comrades. And never forget, DO NOT PURSUE LU BU!!!~
Ha! Ironically had Zhuge Liang not decided to pointlessly prolong conflict and war by joining Liu Bei and help the latter resist the might of Cao Cao and just allow the latter to unify the country in the early 200s, the land would have known peace 6-7 decades sooner. So much needless bloodshed and destruction could have been avoided had he not been blinded by loyalty to a dying dynasty.
unrealsimon93 Dividing the empire into three is the best solution at the time. You need to understand that once the empire was united after the 3 kingdoms period, it corrupted. Which is one of many cycles in Chinese history, united-corruption-division. After China was united by the Jin dynasty(the one that ended the 3 Kingdoms period), it quickly began to come apart and allowed the uprising of 5 barbarians to happen.
@@harecrazy9104 First of all, Cao Cao =/= Nazi. He was a brilliant administrator and he never even tried to usurp the imperial throne so we can't be sure what would have happened if he managed to reunify China. Secondly, the disparity of power between the axis and allies was not so huge that victory was simply impossible, as shown by the fact that it merely took 6 years to defeat them. Conversely, the power disparity between Shu and Wei was so huge that it was under no circumstance possible to restore the Han dynasty when Wei had 20 times the cities and 50 times the population and production capacity of Shu. It was already a MIRACLE that the kingdom of Shu was able to be established at all in the face of such adversity, let alone survive for 4 decades, thanks pretty much exclusively to the efforts and ingenuity of Zhuge Liang. Finally, I'm merely criticizing the dialogues of this video by pointing out the hypocrisy of wanting to restore peace and reduce the suffering for the people yet constantly waging unwinnable campaigns against Wei which caused so much unnecessary losses of life.
@John Wick no, because the USA can't even conquer China despite its military superiority, let alone Russia and the European Union or an alliance between them. But Shu was destined to lose to Wei so it was a pointless struggle.
Keep in mind people, this is an in-engine trailer. It uses the equivalent of ultra graphics of the actual game, though the movements and camera angles are scripted to create the trailer. I haven't checked the comments yet, but I know how quick people get angry over these kinds of info drops. Know that CA did not mean for this video to show how the game will play, but rather used it to show off the campaign and battle map design in ultra graphics. CA used this to show off the works of the map and character design teams, not the work of the programming teams. Their job is a lot more time consuming and delicate, so be patient. We will get actual gameplay footage soon
From what I recall, Zhuge Liang rejected joining Liu Bei for a few times. I think it was the third trip that Liu Bei made that finally Zhuge Liang made up his mind to join him.
Alphidius it wasn’t Zhuge Liang rejecting Liu Bei. Liu Bei visited Zhuge Liang 3 times to find him and he wasn’t there the first 2 times. And yet Liu Bei kept waiting to meet him and left noted to his brothers to visit him and on the 3rd time when he was about to give up, he made one last visit to Zhuge Liang and found out Zhuge arrived at night and was sleeping and waited all day for him to wake up and recruited him. Since then, it has entered a Chinese saying of waiting, patiently for all good things eventually arrive.
Nice trailer, except historically Zhuge Kongming was supossed to be quite a bit taller than his lord Liu Bei, based on Rotk, Kongming's height measured about 184cm while Liu Bei was only 173cm they shouldn't appear as almost the same height.
Where did you get the 173cm for Liu Bei? In the records of the Three Kingdoms, I found seven chi and five cun tall which seems pretty tall. Plus a tall man would go well with the long arms description.
@@aoishiro6622 During Han dynasty and early yeas of Three Kingdoms era, 1 chi =23cm , 1 cun =2.3cm, so Liu Bei was around 173cm , Kongming 184cm, Zhao Yun same height as Kongming.

He sees the land divided into three, even before it happens, He lay out a strategy for the weakest warden, and helped him become a king. He lead and fought seven wars for restoring the Han dynasty, while kept the people in back lines fed and rich. He is called to be the "sleeping dragon", a true legend. In China, people still visit his temple.
his wife was just as interesting as he was
she was a master engineer and a good strategist in her own right

Hah actually Liu Bei came to Zhuge Liang’s house for three times to ask his help, and Zhuge Liang finally moved by Liu Bei and became one of his most loyal counselor and friend.
I think CA got it right. As far as I remember Zhuge Liang wasn't at home during liu bei's first 2 visits. The first visit might have been before the beginning of the video, when he just got home. The second one was during the video when he traveled the land and the third visit was shown at the end.

@@UltramanII ye, its his fan. *SPOILER ALERT *
He leaves it there when he enters his home, after a long trip, visiting the countryside and cities, then Liu Bei returns it to him, so that Zhuge Liang can come with him to the long journey. Pure symbolism
Yea altho im not a Chinese but we have the similar thing in our culture too so it's weird to see him done that
I believe it's meant to be a gesture synonymous with "reaching out," ideally to illustrate the picture of a gentle ruler offering his hand, counter to a harsh ruler who would be aggressive or demanding. As someone else stated, it seems to be a much more Western idea than a Chinese one, though I suppose that's the intention with the audience they're marketing towards.
Very pretty trailer, although when are we getting more gameplay??
Grace announced on reddit that there should be a gameplay video next week, which focuses on the new spy system that CA aims to implement. So, soon(TM)
Masterbean awesome thanks man

Unfortunately this is what Total War headed to, more cinematic instead of pure strategy. Still remember Rome Total War trailer back then ? Less cinematic but more massive battle. More trailer faction and features as well.
Game's probably full of bugs so they don't wanna be compromised. Just wait till release and fix it with some patches after they get their pay. Don't be naive.

Really excited for this game and the scenery looks gorgeous! Only thing that bugs me is Liu Bei holding out the fan with one hand instead of two, which is prideful and disrespectful in Chinese culture. The whole thing with Liu Bei visiting Zhuge Liang thrice was a great show of humility and respect.
Hope Zhao Yun or other 5 tiger generals could get individual trailers as well😊😍

Liu Bei looks like he's inspired by the actor in Red Cliff.
Also Zhang Fei and Guan Yu They look spot on the actors from Red Cliff.
They should just follow the 2010 television version it's much more better

Zhuge Liang is a genius tactician and cunning minister, his army managed to defeat Sima Yi even after his death.
0:03 my teachers talking about my grades
this trailer makes it seem like Zhuge Liang might be possible to recruit by anyone who fulfills certain conditions of virtue and such.
Not really, all his campaigns and battles failed at least irl
Zhuge Liang was a better politic and inventor, he leaded with another area but was an strategist like Leonardo da Vinci. Li Yan was the military guy that time, it is said that Li Yan was charged with the Grand Commander jobs

I regret that I cannot play this game due to my PC being a potato.
As a player of the Warriors games, and the ROTK games on the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, I will have to wait until I can play it.
But, if others can play it, and gain joy from it, and experience this wonderful period in the history of China, then I will be content.
Without competition, every man will corrupt.
Well, by that logic, I guess everyone should surrender to Nazi in WWII, then there would not be any more bloodshed and war.
Amazing, This game needs a Mod of colours from Dinasty Warriors games. Liu Bei is green!
The sleeping dragon!
CA trailers are masterpieces but this one is still the best
"Yes, the man who tossed his baby on the ground and gave him brain damage is the one true lord I can follow."
I hope it's a fake news. Otherwise, the minister's would boot him out from the throne.
I just started reading Volume 2 last night and the timing of this trailer introducing Zhuge Liang is perfect
Its said that Kongming had 200cm
@@aoishiro6622 During Han dynasty and early yeas of Three Kingdoms era, 1 chi =23cm , 1 cun =2.3cm, so Liu Bei was around 173cm , Kongming 184cm, Zhao Yun same height as Kongming.

I just want to know if the modeler has some misunderstandings about the original artist's paintings.Painting and 3D modeling are really different! I hope that CA will once again change Zhuge Liang's 3D style because Zhuge Liang has a high status in Chinese history and East Asian history. He is the embodiment of wisdom. I think it would be better to change his eyes and mouth.

Sima Yi: "where's my trailer?"
Anyone who is interested in this game should take a chance to watch Romance of Three Kingdoms tv series 1994 (available on UA-cam) to have a better appreciation of its historical background and unique characters of each figure.
I am digging the scenery and the immersion this trailer has! I wish it was longer to display some more of the actual game map as we will see it in campaign mode! Also, I would really like a trailer for Yuan Shu! I think, unless they make Dong Zhou playable at launch (not dlc!) he will be my first and favorite lord.
I think this definitely might surpass Shogun 2 for my favorite total wars if done right

As a Chinese, I have to say the landscape is beautiful. Overall, this is a good video. But the way Zhuge Liang receive the fan is not what I think it should be. As everyone assumes, he should make a bow with hand folded in front, then receive it. In the video, the way he manners is too western-style, to be more specific, like a muscle man (forgive me). Zhuge Liang is not a fighter like Kratos. On the contrary, he is a self-confident, wise, somehow a little bit arrogant strategist. His manner in this video just makes me feel strange.
Zhuge Liang was the most humble of all the people in the three kingdoms, not the most arrogant. Most humble to spend half of his life in the hills doing nothing.
Man, I'm super excited for this game. Being a big fan of the senseless, mindless, button mashing that is Dynasty Warriors, Zhuge Liang is my favorite character.
This story is about how Liu Bei invited Zhuge Liang into his company. Chinese called this process 三顾茅庐. In English, it means three times meeting of the sod house. Finally, Zhuge Liang follow with Liu Bei.
