John Tenta was a gifted athlete, he was also a champion sumo wrestler, he deserves more credit. I will say he was more of a singles wrestler 😀
Tenta's singles run was done though. He was already beaten by all the top stars.

@@jd9119 Randy Savage? Bret Hart? He didn't have programmes with either of them. He and Boss Man could have had a good programme too. I don't recall Undertaker beating Quake either. That would've been interesting. The problem was that Quake was actually a damn sight better than he was allowed to look in WWE but the company wasn't ready for 400 pounders to actually wrestle at that stage.
Natural Disasters need to be in the WWE hall of fame 😮😊
Money Inc. vs. The Natural Disasters for the tag titles on Wrestling Challenge to this day remains one of the greatest tag matches I've ever seen

@@lenwennerberg1631 I was there at the taping where they won the belts. It was a surprise to everyone in the arena, includling myself, as the match was never advertised on the program card. I thought Money Inc. was going to get disqualified or used IRS' briefcase as a foreign object to win the match, but it didn't happen.
John tenta for be a huge individual was really agily and quick for his size one of the greatest big men in the business at that era
typhoon was great wrestler for his size [ plus one of the nicest guys on the level of owen hart ] ....this guy was breaking out drop kicks and keeping up with EVERYBODY he worked with without ever getting blown up ....earthquake, yoko ....fred ottman [ typhoon / shockmaster ] ....were the greatest big men in the biz and deserve a pat on the back for there athletic ability
Ottman never did a drop kick, he'd probably break all bones in his body if he tried. He was a very sub-par worker. You confuse him with Tena, who did Drop kicks and other athletic moves.

ooh no Ottman was a dreadful wrestler. Earthquake did all the work in that team. But he was Hogan's mate so got on in WWF

Probably supposed to face Legion of Doom at Wrestlemania but Hawk got himself suspended which led to Tag Title switch in first place.
Saw Money Inc. versus the Natural Disasters at a houseshow in Germany in September 1992. It was the main event on the card and it was absolutely spectacular.
I remember that too. I saw them on october 3rd in Frankfurt. Good match and main event, which really meant something since the card also featured Randy Savage vs Ric Flair for the WWF championship
Always loved the tag team division back then. Great teams for the Golden Era. Earthquake was always the one I preferred and the better and bigger name, maybe so after his singles run in the early 90s.
Disasters were a great heel team but it was harder to buy them as faces. They were better when they were just beating teams up and squashing them.
They were turned face because the fans demanded it, they were getting way too popular to remain heels.

Natural Disasters should have never been turned babyfaces. The two biggest guys in the company teaming together as monstrous squashers arent going to get over like a Rock and Roll Express or a Hardy Boyz.

Funny enough Typhoon was AWA International Heavyweight Champion in '86 but lost the belt to Soul Train Jones (Virgil) the following year.

R.I.P John Tenta, wrestling legend to the fullest.
The thing is there was no other team for Money Inc. to face and make a believable match with some story in it. LOD just returned at Wrestlemania and were gone again by Summerslam, the Rockers just split up, Neidhart was out of WWF prior to WM so the New Foundation was gone too, Duggan and Slaughter did a tag team stint but Slaughter stopped being an active wrestler shortly after WM. The only face team that was around besides the freshly turned Disasters were the Bushwhackers.

Tugboat said that the ref told Ted he had 5 mins so Ted ignored him and continued on with the match and thought about the finish on the fly

They needed better gear to wear to complete the look. Tug boat looked like a jolly sailor and earthquake looked corny.
Dibiase seems to have a not so favorable opinion on nearly everyone but himself! The natural disasters were much more entertaining than money inc! Please move on to someone more interesting to listen to than ol ted.
another goof by vince.. trying to think too out of touch with reality and create silly gimmicks.. the entire point of names and looks in wrestling is to convey strength and or toughness, that the are bigger better than other guys, so calling a man earthquake and typhoon , and as team natural disasters, is just silly.. and you can only go so far with that story.. if two men want fight and call themselves that i would laugh not be intimidated! not to mention after your tugboat you cant be believable as a heal named after weather lol i think john would have been better as just a big ole street tough guy.. or country haas, he definetly had more to give than fred...

The Natural Disasters were never faces and once they became faces any momentum they could have had as an unstoppable heel tag team was gone.
I mean the design was to make us think that Money Inc were going to lose the tag title to these two monsters and as they always do Money Inc find an underhanded way to keep those belts around there waists.
That’s what I loved about Money Inc.
Ive heard from a few wrestlers 🤼♀️ that were in the locker room. When tenta. And haku went at it….. tenta actually held his own against haku. Who is a savage not to fuck with. 👋
He was a very kind man but not somebody to mess with. Marty Jannetty told a great story about the Big Boss Man playing a rib on Quake, which led to Quake holding the 300+lb Boss Man up against a wall with one arm, screaming at him and threatening to pound his face in.
