    ABOUT LOCATION REBEL
    For the past 13 years at www.locationrebel.com I've taught people just like you how to build a lifestyle business and become a digital nomad. There are a lot of ways we do this depending on your goals, skills and interests, but some of the most common businesses are built around freelance writing, niche sites, affiliate marketing and blogging.
    Our primary goal is to help you get to the point where you're making $3-5k a month as quickly as possible, because after that? You have options.
    My name is Sean Ogle, and I'm the founder of Location Rebel. I'm a location-independent entrepreneur from Portland, Oregon and I travel 3-4 months out of the year and take my business with me wherever I go. On this channel you'll learn exactly how to build a similar business and do it from some pretty sweet destinations as well.

    I've been researching email copywriting and over the past month I've gotten in touch with 3 clients and did some work for them for free. They each gave me a testimonial and now I'm on my way to making a portfolio to help me get my first buck. Wish me luck!
    P.S. your videos have been of great help in finding my way. I will watch more of the ones that cover the steps to make a portfolio website. Thank you for everything

    Thank you for your advice, I'm trying to earn my independence and one day work with some of the big data. If I manage to succeed and make it in life I want to give back to the world and invest in projects to make the world better. But I'm a long way before that; I need to stand up and walk before I can run let alone be useful. I hope to make writing something that will help build myself up not just as a presence but in skills too. Thank you for posting your advice to us, I'll happily watch your videos and improve myself so that I can do the things I want to do

    I have always loved writing and it has long since been how I prefer to communicate and persuade. I’ve dreamt of writing for many years but always believed I could never make a living with it. Your videos are helping with my imposter syndrome. I’m finishing my masters degree in higher education that I probably won’t even use, I’m going to take some time trying to break into writing using your tips. I’m 41 and a former elementary teacher, but writing is my comfort zone. Thanks for your videos!

      Both those are certainly huge value adds to just about any type of online client work, but just as importantly, super valuable for anything you create on your own as well.

    Thank you Sean for all the great content. I am in the process of starting out as a freelance writer (as in I literally wrote the content for a blog for the first time yesterday). I am thinking of starting with content and maybe looking more at copy in future.
    At the moment I can't really afford to buy expensive domain names etc. I was thinking of initially using a free shared store like Google Drive to store some blogs, and using that as my 'portfolio' when I start to cold outreach to possible clients. Does that sound like a good/sensible plan to you for the early stages?
    Thanks again :)

    • @LocationRebel
      @LocationRebel  Рік тому +1

      You certianly could share samples via a Google Drive. But if you sign up with Bluehost you get your domain free and your first year of hosting is only $36.Yes, still an investment, but if you're serious about this as a business I wouldnt let the cost get in the way too much of building the portfolio site.

    Very helpful video! I have a question to make. English is not my native language but I can speak and write fluently. Will this be a problem for me if I want to start a career as a freelance copywriter? I really want to know because this is the only thing that is keeping me back from starting. Keep up with the quality content!

    • @LocationRebel
      @LocationRebel  Рік тому +2

      There really is no blanket yes or no answer to this, since everyone's language skills are different. My gut, based on only seeing you write this comment, is that you should be in pretty good shape, as you seem to be a good writer. That said, when it comes to the nuances, persuasion techniques, and tone of copywriting, there's a chance you may struggle as you're first getting going to write in that style. But this is based on knowing absolutely nothing, so you could also thrive! This post and video may be helpful: www.locationrebel.com/freelance-writing-non-native-english/

    Can you do a video of how a first phone call to a client would go?
    For example, questions to ask and things that would be discussed??
    This is the sort of thing that are missing from these kind of videos. All good learning but how about executing the first client phone call
