  • This is a detailed guide on how to change the oil, plus the air, oil and cabin filters on a 2014-2016 Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDI. It does not cover the changing of the diesel fuel filter, due to some timing constraints. I plan to add a dedicated video for the latter in a couple of weeks. I've used filters from Mahle and 8 liters of Ravenol FEL 5W30 oil.

    good video and well explained with comedy thrown in. I' sure most of us have dropped a spanner or 2 into the oil tray when changing the oil.

    Hi, good video. I have KIA Sportage 2.0 CRDi AWD 2012. I plan to change oil and oil filter this weekend. I'm a little worried about how accurate the torque values are, because in another video, the author says to tighten the oil filter to 25Nm. Where did you get the values you mentioned in the video?

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! At least on our Sportage, the torque values are actually written on the outside of the plastic oil filter housing. It says there to torque to 35 NM, for example. Since the 136 HP and 184 HP diesels are effectively the same engine (with some difference in the turbo and software mapping), I'd expect you to find the correct filter torque value written on the plastic cap, just like in my case. The petrol engines may have different torque values.

    Hi just came across your video informative can you please tell me caliper slide pins ? The question 🤔 is why the slide pins go in different positions 🤔

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  2 роки тому

      Typically, the slide pin with the rubber grommet is used to reduce braking noise and vibration and in general is placed on the inboard side of the caliper (i.e. at the point where the brake rotor normally enters / rotates into the caliper as the car is moving forward). I've explained it in more detail in ua-cam.com/video/dGZaonOf_5Q/v-deo.html. It is possible, though, that different brake component manufactures implement different designs, so it's always best to take note of which pin goes where and to install them in the same position they were in originally.

    Hi, nice video!
    However I have 2 comments…from the specs given by the producer you should use ACEA C3 oil, not C2, and the qty recommended is 8 liters. Good luck!

      Hello! I prefer to take the owners manuals or (where available) the workshop manuals as the source of truth. As you can see at 3:10 (in the manual that I have, at least), for the 2.0L diesel with DPF both C2 and C3 are allowed. And I've used both C2 and C3 on our Sportage without any kind of issues. Regarding capacities, 8L is the amount to put if you want it filled to the maximum allowed level. If you put 7.5 - 7.6 L as the manual says it's still perfectly fine, with the dipstick level being at the middle between Low and Full. If you're saying that only C3 is allowed, are we talking about the same market (i.e. European)?

    • @sorinrista4831
      @sorinrista4831 Рік тому

      @@TheMissingBolt, right, I’m talking about the same market, European version, produced in Slovakia. In my manual it is only mentioned C3.

    But how to clean old oil from engine block system?

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  6 місяців тому

      If the oil is not so old, you can try an engine oil flush when you do the next service. But if the oil is very old and has started to gunk up, you pretty much need to disassemble the engine and do a thorough clean-up. At the very least, the oil pan, oil pump and valve block should be examined.

    Salut. Pentru exact aceeasi masina ce ulei recomanzi ...am schimbat pana acum doar la reprezentanta si as vrea sa fac eu schimbul de acum ...

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  Рік тому +1

      Salutare! La reprezentanta la mine am vazut ca puneau Shell Helix Ultra ECT 5W30 C3 si mi se parea ca motorul e cam zgomotos. De cand am preluat-o eu i-am pus Ravenol FEL (5W30 C2) si Ravenol HLS (5W30 C3, acelasi sortiment pe care il folosesc si la Opel). Vad ca se comporta foarte bine cu amandoua, in sensul ca parca nu mai e atat de zgomotoasa iar consumul de ulei e foarte mic: eu ii fac schimbul la 10K km si am avut sub 1L consumat cu FEL si sub 0.5L in acelasi interval cu HLS. Am mai auzit bine de Motul ca marca, dar personal n-am folosit nimic de la ei pana acum. Sunt foarte multumit de cum se comporta Ravenol-ul peste tot unde l-am folosit pana acum.

      @@TheMissingBolt eu am o Kia Sportage 2015 cumparata de la o vecina anul acesta la 38 000 km ... a avut schimburi facute si la 4000 km ... este o masina foarte ingrijita si putin circulata ... am platit acum revizia plus schimb ulei cutie automata 2800 ron ...as vrea pe viitor sa imi fac singur revizia acasa (la fostul opel astra o faceam singur) .. si bagam Liqui moly 5w 30 ... de aceea am intrebat de ulei in special ca au ca recomandare ACEA C3 ... Am de ales intre Liqui moly , Shell , Ravenol ... nu m-am decis inca ...mersi mult de raspuns

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  Рік тому

      @@stoicadragos1 Si de Liqui Moly am auzit de bine - Sreten (ua-cam.com/users/M539Restorations) il foloseste la BMW-urile lui si e foarte multumit. Dupa parerea mea, mult mai important decat marca de ulei (ca e LM sau Motul sau Shell sau Castrol etc.) este sa fie conform specificatiei producatorului (daca cere 5W30 C3 ii bag numai 5W30 C3, nu 5W40 sau 10W50 ca asa mi-a recomandat nu-stiu-cine) si sa fie schimbat la timp. Nici macar cel mai super-sintetic super-aditivat ulei nu-si pastreaza proprietatile pana la 30K km, mai ales daca masina e plimbata prin oras. La mine e regula: maxim 10K km sau 1 an, indiferent de masina sau motor. Cat despre Ravenol, mie imi place in mod deosebit la ei ca poti verifica faptul ca nu a fost contrafacut, lucru care nu e disponibil la alte marci. Si calitatea e acolo, pentru ca ei fabrica totul in Germania indiferent in ce tara vand.
