"The more you suffer, the more it shows you really care." That one cuts deep. This was the great Offspring of the 90's. There was no instagram to raise one's self esteem then haha.
The song "Come Out and Play (Keep Em' Separated) comes from Dexter's time in the lab working with Germs and substances that had to be kept separated. Oh, he's also a Pilot.

It's crazy because in the 90's we thought this was humorous and laughed at the lyrics. I haven't heard this song since then until now, and he change my feelings about this song. It's not a funny song anymore. It's tragic and sad.

It makes you wish that those people could see themselves the way you see them, with all of their good qualities and the treatment they deserve.

The Offspring is easily one of the MOST underrated bands of the 90's. Do yourself a favor with these: "Session", "We Are One", "Genocide", "Smash", "Gone Away", "All I Want", "Amazed", "The Kids Aren't Alright", "Special Delivery", "Million Miles Away", "You're Gonna Go Far Kid", "Change The World", "Bad Habit", "Have You Ever", "Cool To Hate".....
This song is so well written and it's one of my favorite by The Offspring, even though I feel really bad for the guy character in the song. Cut that crazy girl loose please!
Hearing this on huge sound system in the club in the 90s and just losing your mind because we were all such low self-esteem people thrashing around was incredible. As soon as the opening came on it was just a 'rush to the dance floor' kind of moment.
The Offspring songs can be super serious like Gone Away and The Kids Aren't All Right and super funny like Pretty Fly for a White Guy, Why Don't You Get a Job, and The Worst Hangover Ever.
I love the fact you grasp the meaning of the songs so quickly. I've seen 2 of your videos but that's enough for me to think you are worth subscribing to man. I love when people go deep into music, honestly I think music is the key to uniting people. Different genres show how similar we are when we actually sit and listen to each other.
J is great role model for self-esteem! “Come Out and Play” was the Offspring gateway drug for me. Though it was outside my usual music comfort zone, I bought the CD, and was amazed how much I liked the whole album.
That's the sad truth. Being lonely can suck sure, but nothing sucks worse than being mentally or even physically abused by a pos just because you "need" someone around.

So interesting to see a young person's reaction to this now. I was 18 or 19 when this came out. We kind of laughed at the song as we sung along. Just because it either hit home or you knew someone in a relationship like that. I guess now hearing someone tongue-in-cheek resigned to their subpar relationship is a strange concept. It took me years and years to realize that the only thing in common with all the controlling overbearing shitty people in my life was me. That was a tough jagged pill to swallow. Great song.
Been there, done that. I really feel this song hard, because this is the story of my marriage. It took me 5 years and several suicide attempts, just to realise everyone around me were right, and I was blind to it. Believe me, you don't want to be in such a situation. Review Keep Em Separated (Come Out and Play) by The Offspring
You should check out these other Offspring songs: "Gotta Get Away," "Come Out and Play," "Pretty Fly," and "Gone Away"
Why no Original Prankster featuring Redman?
Gone Away is my favourite song by The Offspring. It just put into words exactly how I felt when I lost my grandmother.
I would also suggest "Bad Habit"
Pretty fly! :)
Also Genocide and Bad Habit ;)
