For those like me that were confused as HECK why this wasn't working as seamlessly as he shows in the video, this is where you are doing it wrong. Great video! But can be explained a bit better. 1. Choose any object that is scalable from your build menu. 2. Choose 'Toggle Wiring' by pressing Q on the keyboard. 3. Place the first "plug" of the wire down and extend it to a small length without completing the build. (That is, place the first plug down and extend the wire and just hold it there without clicking again) 4. While extended press Q again to bring up your object that you chose in Step 1. This is what he meant by 'Copy to the cache'. That object was still selected and in memory while you placed the wire. 5. Now increase or decrease the scale of that object to any size you wish. R/F on the keyboard. 6. Once you have your desired size, press Q and Left Mouse Button together; with Q having a fraction of a second priority over LMB. Will take you a few tries to nail that sweet spot. **You now have a scaled wire! Congratulations! Now on to the 2nd part where you use that scaled wire to scale a non-scalable object (example a Storage box) 7. Choose your object you want to scale from the build menu. 8. Press Q and C together; with Q having a fraction of a second priority over C. Again, this will take a few tries for you to nail it. And your navigation menu on the top should look exactly like he shows in the video at @5:30. ((Do this when your cursor is on a floor that you built so that you know you did it right)) To make sure you have done this right, you need to have 'Swap Part' on the menu AND you should be in that edit build mode where you can highlight your built objects. 9. Now hover over to your scaled wire and press E to duplicate it. Your duplicated wire plug in your hand should be the same size as the original scaled wire. 10. Without placing the wire down just press Q and Left Mouse Button together; with Q having a fraction of a second priority over LMB. Same as Step 6. Will take you a few tries to nail that sweet spot. **Voila! You now have a custom scaled non-scalable object!**
@@KearaLaChelle I'm pretty sure you will be able to. Just use the keys corresponding to what he mentions in the video on your Switch. I've never used Switch but to give you an example, if he says in the video to press Q and left mouse button, press whatever corresponds to those keys on the Switch like L2 and R2(just an example as I don't know Switch keys).
Great tutorial, I had trouble doing it until I realized that when placing at 6:21 requires the same Q+LMB then it worked like a charm for me. I miss the PC pod to just scale things freely
Your videos have taught me so much about building...thank you. I had no clue you could power scaled parts outside of snapping prefabs on them so that is my next watch. You are building an army of great builders....
You mention in this video and its description how to power scaled parts, but that video itself is now set to private, presumably because it's outdated - which of your other videos would include that information now, I've checked the playlist and none seem to mention it.
Ok sat here for an hour trying this and finally got all the way to placing the tiny glass cube. I tried about 5 times with no luck, but once I got it EXACTLY like in your picture and suddenly the front electrical connection was invalid, i could only wire up the other 3 sides. It makes me think I actually got it right, but something with the game then detected that that wire port was now blocked...
it seems this has been patched, been trying to do it for a while, but the final piece of placing the wire to get the scaled object no longer seems to be working.

Statues can already be scaled natively... If you mean scale up larger than natively, then no, at least not in vanilla mode. If you are on PC, or have a friend who has a PC and installed the right mods, they can leave large scale parts at your base for you to copy.
Question: I'm playing NMS on Steam using a X360 controller. What commands I need to use to scale up a garage door or any other object? The commands for PC or those for the Xbox?
There’s got to be a way for them to make the stairs into ramps. I don’t want to use the ramps they provide because it looks so out of place with the other building materials. How can I reach out and suggest that to them. 😢
So it's impossible to have scaled up corridors, cubed rooms, and biodome as nothing connect too them without resizing back to normal. Dang, wish I had a way to get a door on a scaled up biodome :( Edit: At least we can use a single large biodome. Just have to build a moon floor, go inside and built a short range teleport, then can delete the moon floor. Still no door, but at least we can get inside using a short range teleport.
Y can't it work for the storage containers...plz for the love of God make a video on that.. I can get the wires to go higher and lower but after that when I go to place it does not work
Hey man I’ve used this in the past for multiple bases Im coming back after a year and tried re learning how to do it I was able to scale my wire down but once I try scaling a different part it always just places the duplicated wire I got the correct menu of swap part place wire and duplicate I duplicate the wire that’s been scaled down and go to place it like you but it just places the wire what tf am I doing wrong? I’m using the same piece of equipment you are in video but it is not placing the part just the duplicated scaled down wire

When I try to attach a cable to a giant something that need electricity the game can't find an attachment for the cable! So I have a giant Teleporter than lays on a cubic room, lol
All scale glitches still work. If you are new to this, it might be a good idea to learn all the basic glitches first and get them to work, before combining them. 👍
Powering up Scaled items is a hassle. I made an older guide about a few techniques, but much of that is broken now. The best advice I can give you is to check the original part and how far the connector symbol is away from the Sides... Then try to place your wire at the approximate location by "calculating" the scaled distance.

A recent video showed a biodome scaled upper than 3 times the size (I would say 6 times or more) embedding a whole city. It's been told made without mod (even if non allows it). Since you're a master in nms glitch, do you have an idea how to achieve this ? Thx
@@warc0re57 The Vanilla Hard limit is 3x the size. Anything bigger is done with a mod - or modded support. Some Console Players have a PC friend join them that uses a mod to place a Upscaled wire in their base. After that you can use that upscaled wire to build larger than allowed. While the Console Player did not have mods installed on their device, they still used a modded part to built it.
@@Beeblebum A mod allows this ? The only one found is resize+ but still limited to vanilla 3x upsized. Do you know another one ? Didn't find one. It could really be ressource saver (instead of making a giant assembly of glass cubes rooms).

I finally got some of the scaling glitches to work on PC thanks to watching your video. TYVM. I'm trying to scale the diplo statue up even larger than it already can be scaled to.. is that possible? I've scaled the statue up and built it, then picked it up and tried to Q+C it into memory so I could then dupe the scaled wire and wire glitch the super-sized diplo, but it hasn't worked yet (my timing might be off). If the scaled-up gold diplo is 7u tall, do you think it's possible to get it to 14+? tyvmia either way. edit: I think you did it with the heater in the video (2x upscaling), I'm gonna go back in & try again.. edit 2: Nah. It appears that scalable items cannot be scaled up farther, unless I'm doing something wrong...
@@Beeblebum I only got it to show up once and then I messed up the timing on the wire glitch, I just made some macros and now it works 100% of the time. The timings are very unforgiving. Thanks!
Does the universal adjacency glitch still work because I tried it over and over even made a macro to get the timing and the first option is place wire when I get into the edit mode
This method still works, but at the time you asked this question, there was some bugs with the controls. I would say try again, and see if it works now.

Can confirm this still works. It's quite difficult, took me a while to figure it out and I still screw it up so just keep trying!

This still works. I was able to do it in the adrift expedition. You need to press the buttons at the same time from my experience.

Haha... Make it a Greenhouse or something.
Doors wont snap, so you will have to build a cuboid room on the bottom or a short Range Teleporter.

I have already seen some instructions but the wire cannot be enlarged on my PC. I use a MakroScript to wireglitch.

There is (currently) no way to snap scaled parts, they will revert to their original scale when snapping.

Cannot get the Swap Part+Place Wire menu to show up for the life of me...
Hey Fishy, be sure to have your cursor hovering over a building part, I noticed the "swap part" now only shows up when hovering over a building part.

and was able to scale a storage container as well! took many tries
