    There is a HERD of white deer at Pt Reyes National Seashore, north of San Francisco.. a former landowner there (they sold the land to the park service) said her family IMPORTED the herd from Europe during the 1800's, and they are thriving.. we saw them grazing under a full moon on a backpack hike into the mtns above the seashore, still inside the park - beautiful and ethereal!

      The albino mutation is often associated with close inbreeding, so it could be an isolated herd that isn't getting enough genetic diversity from other populations.

      scott burnhan Ya, not sure what they do anywhere else, but in NC they are undesirable and considered management deer. ou would def not get in trouble for killing him here. Not to mention he would look bad ass as a full mount in my living room haha.

    When an albino-deer got this age, I don’t find it good to kill him.
    This would be better to see how long such an animal can survive in the wilderness.

    In the late 80's, there was a beautiful white Buck seen frequently by boaters along the banks of Grayson Lake in Kentucky. We enjoyed looking for and watching the "Ghost" deer. Do not know if he was an albino, but definitely magnificent.

      onelove With other words you are saying that he is hunted now because I prayed for him Not to be hunted? That is a complete misconception of philosophy. Just because I wish for someone to be safe does not mean that individual is not safe because I wished for him to be safe. You listened to Esther Hicks and you don't think for yourselves people. Man begin finally to question things. And begin to truly love.

    • @nickilovesdogs8137
      @nickilovesdogs8137 8 років тому

      onelove I wish you the best, too. :0) Be always careful how you word yourself for jokes or anything else because language and metaphors or any type of wording does have either a beneficial or a negative effect on the readers. Market psychologists have exploited this situation for decades. It is not funny to make jokes about hunting because hunting is murder and torture. This subject can never be made into something funny. If you care about the animals then speak out against hunting. Get into protecting the animals. They need our political and legal help.

    • @nickilovesdogs8137
      @nickilovesdogs8137 8 років тому

      onelove I have talked to many people during my last 20 plus years of activism. I understand that there is a wide range of people from A to Z and there are many shades of grey in between. Not all people of any type of group or sectation are exactly the same. I see that you are willing to listen and I appreciate that very much. If you are interested in ethics read the books by Dr. Peter Singer on ethics philosophy. It will be eye opening and help you progress towards a better understanding of sentience. I also recommend the books by Pema Chodron. And I recommend the books by Paul Watson. And also the books by Dr. Temple Grandin.

    Wow, a 27 inch spread? Amazing! There's been some research in to why hunters are reporting smaller and smaller racks on their catches. There's so much pressure on hunters to bring back the biggest bucks they can find that they are taking the best genetics out of the gene pool before they can make a real impact.

    We had a white stag near where I'm from. I saw him a few times, as did a some friends, but then nobody spotted him for a couple of years. We thought perhaps he'd died or been killed, which was a shame. But then, driving through that same area, I happened to come across three hinds (females) with a couple of young deer between them - all white :)

    Not one of a kind. But, breathtaking, none the less. Was just south of Nashville, TN. headed to Florida from Indiana. Wanted to pull over and check out the wilderness... An ice storm started and they started shutting down off-ramps. We were stuck. while waiting, we took a hike in the snow. We saw a small herd of white-tail and one mule. NONE of us saw the white buck until he got up. He was about two years old and shined so brightly white exactly like this one. We watched for two hours!! 1985

    There was an albino white-tail buck close to where I grew up in Pennsylvania. Saying they get singled-out by predators at 2-to-1 clip, relative to normal deer doesn't really mean much, since most places, they have no natural predators except humans, after about a year. And it's illegal for humans to harvest them. Still, the odds are stacked against the albino their first year, and they probably do tend to be on the tough side. I've never heard of a runty albino.

    If you listened to exactly what was said, this was not a "typical" white deer, as we know them. This was an "ALBINO", (as it says in the video title). That is an extremely rare animal to begin with. Further, it lived to maturity without being killed. Again, extremely rare. Further, to0 have lived as long as he did, and to attained such magnigificent size, is nearly unheard of!! All told, YES!! This is a most amazing and "One of a Kind" Animal indeed!!!

    As astonishing as these Albino organisms may look, their beauty always put them on list of carnivores' menu. Their distinctive colour is the biggest menace in their survival as it makes them much more prominent and visible to predators. Lucky that such a unique animal still thrived in wild for some good years.

    Any deer that can survive despite being whiter than a Klansman in bleached robes must be pretty hardcore. The fact that this buck was rarely photographed gives you a sense of how good he was at keeping a low profile. Trophy or no, some animals are just too special to harvest. I wonder how many hunters held their fire when they encountered him? Given how wary this particular buck was, just getting a photo seems like an accomplishment in itself.

    Actually, a TRUE albino of any species is extremely rare. Very white deer are often mistaken for albinos, especially when they are young. They are as rare as 1 in 300,000 or greater. The eyes are usually the true tell-point of an albino animal.
    My Grandma lived next to an African family with a daughter who was white as snow with bright golden hair. The rest were all very dark skinned. It was powerful for a 3 year old to witness. She was stunning to behold. Google it!~
