Its cool to see and hear some Jazz players use 7 string hollow body guitars because you can do some really cool bass line stuff with the lowest strings, and they can be vary good for playing Jazz by yourself live.
weird tone, but tasty licks... I'd like to see a little more creativity on the harmonic side of things. His parallel 3rd ideas are really cool though :) And his and licks feel like they're disembarking from the time too much, and he isn't paying very close attention in those moments. Glad to get turned onto this guy! Does this trio have a record out?
@Queenoftheworldisme Pat Martino was actually the jazz guitarist who underwent surgery for a brain aneurysm...not that that should diminish anything from Howard Alden, who is a beautiful player.
@hooperxxx why is it so important to call someone the best. That is ridiculous. There are many mant great guitarists out there alive. Howard is just one of many who have an A game.
@minor7b5 why insult another great guiatrist in order to compliment one that you prefer. This is what is wrong with guitar players of the amateur variety.
This man is probably one of the TOP 5 players in the country... If I tried for another 10 years, I could not even come close !
Great playing and he digs in while swinging!
this was unbelievebly good
Really nice chordal approach!
A machine... Nice
howard got the gig to play the movie with Shawn Penn, Sweet and Lovely, about a great jazz guitarist in case you guys didn't know that.

What great player! He sure loves some Barney Kessel too, which is not bad at all.
Never mind. It's a Benedetto, gorgeous!
I do.

Jazz on a 7 string?? Great! What brand of axe is that?
Blinky...Alden is one of the greats! Do you play, or are you just being funny?

lol this blinky character... what's his idea of "time"???
A lotta jazzholes in the world lol
Why take a beautiful ballad like this and rev it up? Fred Astaire and Joan Leslie's rendition the best.
