That's awesome. I hope you got a good grade. Lyle is a fantastic ambassador for the game and seems like a really great dude. Too bad we won't be seeing him in the PLL this year 😥
I am a huge Chaos fan, had to get me a Josh Byrne jersey last year. Honestly, I picked them because of their attitude and I love the Black and Red color scheme. Towers being a loud and gritty coach actually seems to be a genuinely nice and awesome guy in person (reminds me of Stone Cold Steve Austin lol) And damn the Archers for taking O'Keefe gonna miss the 2-point powerhouse!
I am a long time (Boston) Cannon fan. They were the last MLL Champions....tough times since joining the PLL. My puppies route for the Waterdogs: Daddy 0 - 1 Puppies
I love this! I am a Chicago Bears fan. Which of the 8 PLL teams would fit for me? I’m new to the PLL and definitely going to watch this first game this afternoon. Thanks for the vid!
Honestly woods. I’m a Chicago native and a woods fan. Woods got the talent but can’t get the job done. Sound familiar? But this year I’m optimistic with our new additions on defense. Or the Atlas for the same reasons he said in the video
As a fellow Chicago fan, I would definitely agree with the Redwoods. Lots of rotating talent, while seemingly always looking for that extra missing piece to push through and get wins. Or you could pick up the Archers and keep the color scheme🐻
Color scheme totaly agree the Archers make sense. Lots of ND players on Redwoods...close-ish to Chicago. The other team I'd think about would be the Chrome. A lot of young talent that appears to be primed to make a run at a title. If you want to get one before they get too hot, do it right now. And Chicago Chrome just sounds cool
I'd say you may be a fan of a team with a lot of talent that just hasn't gotten over the hump. If you want to continue with that idea, the Atlas could be a great team. They have the pieces, but they just haven't been able to put it together to win the championship. I'd also say the Whipsnakes seem to be the favorite to be based in Maryland, so may be worth supporting that team in hopes they will be your local-ish team next year.
How/where does a league of 8 teams currently live without a base city name/location? They currently all have to live in the same geographic area, near each other, to practice. So where do the players of each particular team currently primarily live?
Great question. They live all over the US and some maybe Canada. The league currently (and will continue) to use a touring model with a new location each weekend. Coaches/players may have zoom/teams meetings during the week to go over game plans and scouting reports. Then the day before the games all member of the team for that weekend fly into the destination city for the games. They typically get to have a practice/walkthrough on Friday and then games on Saturday or Sunday. Some players may live near each other and get together for workouts, but no team practices happen until that day or two before their game in the city stop for that weekend.
@@OffBallLax Thank you for your response! (it clarified a lot for me) When I was channel surfing on my TV, a few weeks ago, and it was the first time I saw lacrosse on TV (well first time in many years) and they were playing at my old school at the University of Albany. But I had no idea which team was from Albany? because they all had names, but didn’t have a city. I had the TV on for like an hour, and they didn’t explain what was going on (to a casual observer like me) (actually, I did play lacrosse in high school, so I would be slightly more than a casual observer) but still, I had no clue what was going on? I didn’t know which team to root for anything etc. Then I came across another lacrosse segment on TV just last night, and it sparked my curiosity again. - So I searched on UA-cam for this last night, I did come across this video, & another, about the future teams will go to the future cities. - But I’m just saying, for a casual observer like me, who had the TV on for an hour, I had no idea what was going, on with which team was which, and why certain fans were cheering for certain teams. I guess by which ever one they think is the coolest name? - At first, I thought all the teams were from Albany. So I was just curious if I was only one that was confused with this? (as a first time viewer) - So I have a suggestion, maybe the TV announcers, should explain what’s going on to a potential new viewer. Saying something like, “if you’re new to watching this PLL lacrosse league, you may have noticed that there’s no city name, but in the future there will be” (etc) - Otherwise, I kind of felt left out, as if only the people who watch it regularly . knows what’s going on. (kind of like trying to binge watch a Netflix series, starting halfway through the series, and having no idea who the previous characters nor what the plot is about)
@@MikeCee7 I can def see how that can be confusing. I think that's part of the purpose of moving to teams based on City/State/or Region. This is actually the 5th year of the PLL so I guess the announcers don't talk much about the team constructions anymore. They actually created with some common college team threads. Redwoods - Notre Dame, Whipsnakes - Maryland, Chrome - Duke...these ties to the teams have dissolved over the years with draft picks and free agency. Awesome that you found the game again after a few years. The PLL is very similar to the traditional outdoor game other than a few key rules. 1) Shot Clock - you have 52 sec after possession to score a goal (only 32 sec after faceoff). 2) 2pt Arc - College and High School still operate with a box and all goals are 1pt. In Pro there is an arc where anything behind it is worth 2pts. 3) Shorter Field - in the PLL they shrunk the field in the middle by 10 yards to hopefully spur more action/goals in transition. You can learn more about some of the rules and the PLL in this video below I made recently about watching the PLL on TV: ua-cam.com/video/M2BR4S0anz8/v-deo.html
From a color scheme the Waterdogs make the most sense. And it would be nice to cheer for a team that won a 🏆. Other option that makes sense would be the Redwoods, a team with the talent but hasn't broken through yet. Kinda like the Vikings
@@OffBallLax no I was just referring to the fact that they were like the Toronto Maple Leafs. They had maybe the best team stat wise and had the flashy skill full guys, come playoff time they lost every time they were in it. Exactly like the leafs. But now, if we are giving them a Canadian location, which would defiantly be infesting, I think Edmonton Archers would sound a lot better
Jags feel like a good young team that just haven't been able to put it together yet for a deep run. I think the best team comparison in the PLL is the Atlas Lacrosse Club. They have a lot of talent, but just haven't figured it out yet. This can't last long and they will break through soon.
I left you guys out because I'm an Eagles fan 😉. But I'll welcome anyone to lacrosse, Redwoods are similiar in that they have the pieces to contend for a title but haven't been successful yet. They also have Dallas native Nakeie Montgomery, who balled out in week 1.
Totally get your rubric, but I just can't see the Cannons as anything other than a New England team, like the Patriots. technically, they're not the BOSTON Cannons anymore, but I mean...yeah they are... I can't not be a fan. Of course, the whole thing goes out the window next year when they have cities/regions
Agreed on Boston Cannons will probably be going home. This was just to compare them to the most similar NFL teams today. Not where I think they should go. If that were the case, the Redwoods are like the Steelers and Eagles so they may as well just be the PA team. 😁
I feel that Jags comparison too. Tough to match teams 100%, but the drama of Lamar and the Ravens right now I just couldn't bring down a PLL team like that 😉
What are your best NFL comparisons?
Bills have to be chaos because half their team plays for the bandits
Not a bad comparison of teams either. I won't argue this one
I had to do a paper on Lyle Thompson in college. I was excited to see him play this year. Didn't know who he was until that.
That's awesome. I hope you got a good grade. Lyle is a fantastic ambassador for the game and seems like a really great dude. Too bad we won't be seeing him in the PLL this year 😥
Dude, it's crazy how you matched up my teams, I've been a Rams fan for 15 years, and a Woods fan since the logos were announced.
I'm an Eagles fan and really wanted to relate them, but I think Atlas is a better comp. Roll Woods!

Agreed on all fronts here. Towers does seem to be a really chill dude, except on gameday. I'd love to play for a coach like that.
I love the chaos for the box style I think that messes up the other teams. Kyle jackson is quiet but strikes hard with great off ball movement
@aidansexton2391 beauty of playing Off Ball. Quiet until you strike
