- When somebody says «German armor», we immediately think about Panthers… Tigers… the glorious Tiger II… and that’s hardly surprising, they’re all iconic vehicles. But if we start to tell the tale of the Panzerwaffe from the very beginning, we can’t overlook the fast beasts of Blitzkrieg. Panzers. Let’s talk about them!

4:50 , the side skirts were actually not for stopping heat rounds. The side skirts were for stopping Russian anti tank rifles as they could pen the side quite easy.

For WT purposes, not much, if they applied a more realistic behavior, the Sideskirts would make KPVT MGs useless as they would dissipate KE before it hit the side armor.....
All while also able to make CE ammo detonate prematurely which is what makes that Panzer Skirts so useful for that in game
@@andrehashimoto8056 even the sideskirts in game don't really help against HEAT. In real life it is even discussed that the sideskirts on the panzers even made the heat rounds stronger.
Well, they were tested for protection against HE, the test was positive and the Schurtzen changed throughout the war, and was more to protect against hollow point rounds after initially being used as an extra layer of defence against the soviet AT rifles
Mighty Mediocre that is false. The heatrounds were very sensitive and exploded on the skirts, leaving room free for them to dissipate their enery into the air and not the tanks armour.

"Ausf." is pretty unspellable, especially in English. Instead, you can use the word "Ausf." is an abreviation of, "Ausfürung" that translates into "variant"
Ausf. means ausführung.
Or "model" would be another suitable translation.
what bothers me is how he's saying panzerkampf WAGON. It's pronounced VAGON.

Depends on which tank you're talking about... Yeah the pz. II/III/IV have really poor armor and can be one shot pretty easily, but when you get to the panther it starts to get interesting... I'd even go as far as to say the panther A is the best brawler germany has tier for tier.
Learn how to position yourself better. People complain about this in the Maus as well, so much so that it was removed for new players. But if you angle your hull, fire, and the angle your turret, even APFSDS and HEAT and HEAT rockets have a tough time doing anything more than maybe taking out your cannon barrel and/or gun breach. It's still one of the most effective tanks I own, and all german heavy tanks are similar in this way.
@@xavier4519 the pz4 c at 1.3 or 7 is a beast because no one can stop its ap or heat round at the br and it almost always a 1 shot kill lol
Once you get to rank 4 or 5 most people aren’t dumb enough to hit your frontal armor and just targets your weak points of flank around also you aren’t going to be head on most of the time or you face AP that gose straight thought your armor or you get up tiered
I'd say it is your play. I see so many people shooting the same spotz 2-5 times and then get killed. If you do that too, you have to understand that the most reliable and fast way to kill a tank in WT is to kill its crew. So in a standart situation my 1st shot goes to the turret, to kill the gunner so he is defenseless, 2nd shot kills driver and co-driver. Then GTFO. Hope that helps. :)

And many aa guns as Russian 14,5 (same ammo as at rifles) and some as american or other nations use sand for that (no armor for standar ammo but useful for heat)

@@erikfaringer9593 They are in the Anime stage, they think having to fight closer to the enemy makes the gun better. This phase isn't gone until they get to MBTs and by that point, ATGMs would already force them to quit WarThunder.
Fire Power701 exactly, they dont even realize how good of a long range fighter than F2 actually is. For a medium tank it’s good some scary penetration rates
@@manuelalamil2637 The only way I even died to them is if I get outnumbered, My KV-1 managed to hold back 3 Panzer IVs due to angling. But they do often get my gun. and it becomes a stalemate that last for about three minutes

I ended up researching the "Panther" Tank Family, and had a fun time playing them! I was able to get around 3-4 tank kills depending on map, BR, and enemy awareness.

@@Dz73zxxx panzer IV just filled a different function as a more infantry support hence its slow speed meanwhile panzer III was used to combat other tanks. They were developed at the same time.

my great grandfather fought in a panzer 4 platoon of 5 tanks they took out quite some shermans and stuarts and other tanks but since my great grandfather did such a good job on commanding them he got promoted to a tiger 1 heavy tank but in his second battle he died by a bomb

I mean the cosmetics of maps. Like cold war tanks on maps when im in an m4 sherman. Things like that. Its rrally something that is very small of an issue but regardless would help the experience.
Another thing while we are at it. Id like them to really add some story oriented missions with waves of active players storming or defending a place.
I'll explain, one team would get 30s to set up on the area they have to defend. The other team will then launch an attack but if you die you cant respawn immediately, you'll have to wait for the round to end, that would be the case for both teams (unless you have a story where one team has some resupply line like a dock or train yard that needs to be bombed by the other team to stop respawning for that round)
Now at the start of the match some people, who have planes can spawn in and act as recon or bomb for the attacking team but if you die you wont respawn till the end of the first round. Further for air engagements, both teams would use aircrafts from the start, the mission (story driven) will decide the aircraft type. That way AA has a purpose, and so does escorted strategic bombers who will have to be defended against by fighters. Every rounds things will sort of reset with a slight change of borders depending on the mission type ( city defence/attack, convoy defence/attack, air raids as part of those rounds in a mission. Things like that will effect the frontlines and change your spawn locations for the every round). You know like world war mode, but on a smaller scale.
Honestly to me that sounds pretty fun

The only good apcr is the one the m48 forces you to use stock
I only use it on a King tiger to pen the side of the t-95. Other than that, it's pretty useless since almost every tanks has sloped armor.

The Panzer 4 ausführung G is my most loved tank in the game: Decent mobility, armor and fire rate made me have fun in countless battles. I've spent hours driving that tank and I was very exited to see the tank in real life in a museum in Germany this year. (Auto- und Technikmuseum Sinnsheim) Love the game, keep it up Gaijin!

I really like early pz 4s. Idk why are people not playing them much but 75mm with 3.5s of reload and powerful aphe and heat is always a big yes to me
APCBC is really good, but you need HEAT against some french stuff.
I ususally carry about 36 APCBC and 6 HEAT shells.
Lolpenning a bis frontally is just so so satisfying

Panzer 3 has roughly the same survivability of a crippled child in a house fire.
The interior layout means one shot to the turret kills 3 of the crew and random shrapnel spread can kill the rest. Angling your armor won't help if you get up tiered because that M4 did see you, and that corner plate looks very attractive
And the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus?
I love the pzkpfw iv f2, it is the best tank for its Battle Rating, and nothing even comes close to it.
Pzkpfw III and IV were used to protect Tigers's sides in Russia.
The panzer IV G and H variants had 80mm frontal armor but in-game the 20mm tracks make the amour 100mm, so that's nifty

The Panzer IV G is probably my favourite German tank in the game. I play it with my 5.7 BR loadout in tank RB
It's an unsung hero. Actually the best-balanced of the Panzer IV's. I've had more success with it than any other variant.

The added skirt armor on the panzer four and three wasn’t meant for HEAT projectiles but actually to counter Russian anti tank rifles that could easily penetrate the side armor.
Im no tank expert but the skirt might be effective against HE or Heat shell because the shell hit the skirt first then denottonated earlier (shell detonated a bit far from the rieal armor

You don't like lowtier gameplay because you think high tier is soo superior. WW2 was a stunningly massive event and had an amazing amount of iconic and interesting vehicles that people would love to play. Many think that Gaijin focusing on higher tiers is absurd because lots of players don't have access to these things and the size war thunder is, it takes a lot of time and effort to get to these new vehicles. All we're asking for is a few new weird and wacky or just interesting vehicles. (Personally I'd love to see more armored cars)

Aaaaand, don't forget that the Germans could use some prototype stuff around this br, as my 1942 panther gets killed by 50's MBTs more times than I can count. ADDITIONALLY, the R3 t-20, (br 3.7) which was only made in prototype form, fights early ww2 vehicles. Know what's funny about that? IT WAS MADE IN 1982. CLEARLY, historical realism is not a massive priority, so removing vehicles seems strange and unnecessary under these circumstances. (Quick note the Abrams was made in 1980. Just for a bit of perspective, that's 35 years after ww2 ended. And the R3 was made after that)

War Thunder decided to upset the players since they were playing happily. War Thunder removed the tanks they were playing and this made the players sad. Those tanks are legends that the future generation of players will never know what are they and what happened to them. The legend of those tanks are still discussed in War Thunder community and will never be forgotten.
I magicaly found these tanks one day on my right side of the research tab. Guess i was fast enough to get choosen by them

Panzer IV F2 is thr most fun a german player will have and is basically the best that the Panzers IIIs or IVs could offer. It has around the best armor while reducing unnecessary weight AHEM Ausf H AHEM while providing a gun that basically kills everything. Its great at all ranges (close range coz of quick reload but not the armor tho, long range coz of the gun and rounds) and is a real jack of all trades. Basically Germany's Hellcat.

As someone who plays both tech trees, the feul tanks on a t34 make it feal invincible in some scenarios.
Like when a pamzer 3 unloads there entire ammo rack into ones sides but to no effect.

Pz IV F2- Me and my buddy were camped on top of a hill kind of hidden by some rocks, we were sniping on one of the hard points when some enemy tanks found where we were, so we went under HEAVY fire, my friends Sherman didn't stand a chance against the T34s and M4s so he blew up fairly quick after getting a few kills, to my surprise my tank stayed in the fight for the majority of the match landing me seven kills in that tank till a KV-2 got a lucky shot that destroyed my entire crew 😂

I love Panzers IV, especially H variant. It is a tank which fought through whole war (in its many variants) and it was the core tank until the very end, despite weehraboos fantasies (Panthers and Tigers were elite rather uncommon tanks). It's very capable tank even when brought above its BR range (there you need to take half of your ammo in APCR and need to unlearn aiming at CoM).
Despite its reputation of glass canon, when you take less than 28 pieces of ammo combined, learn how to hide your weakspots (driver front armor and place between 2nd and 3rd wheel, little bit tricky as angling one reveals the other) and stop using it as brawl tank -- it becomes quite tanky.
It's relatively fast, has small silhouette, fast reload... And the gun if dreams.
However -- do not forget StuG(H), as StuG is love, StuG is life!

I like these series. You learn something new and see all the comparissons and developement as the BR climbs higher. My suggestion would then be to cover the developement of Cruiser/Infantry tanks in the UK tree or maybe the developement of the tanks based on the Type 97 templet of the Japanese medium tank branch. ^^ Hope you guys agree.

Cancel out the GE changes or babay Gaijin. Yeah you are a game developer, yeah you are responsibilities to the share holders, yeah you gotta eat every now and then, but thats why so many people are buying XM-1s, T55-AMs and many other kinda broken vehicle under the name of premium advantage (yeah i bought couple of broken tanks too, i know i'm part of the problem here). It is fun and games until you decide to push people to higher prices and make who can spend couple of bucks to decide if he should eat every now and then or enjoy him/herself. Before you can make a joke out of what i wrote i just wanna say that its been years since i've joined to a "ALMOST" full battle. Plane AB, Plane RB, Tank AB, Tank RB, Naval AB and Naval RB are all half full at best. So I hope you will reconsider your decision and cancel out the change. Sell them low, sell them in huge volumes, make discounts to returning players, otherwise they wont be leaving the new shiny game they will possibly be playing, just because you swallowed your pride just like WoT or AW and send a shitty freebie their way.

Panzers are legends. Impossible not to love these tanks. Panzer iv ausf g is my favorite.
I always liked the Panzer IV F1 before the shell changes. Powerful, armored and fun to brawl in, it was an amazing experience at times and some of my best games have taken place in that tank.
These skirts were not meant against HEAT when they were introduced. Else, you´d see them also on Panther and Tiger (where I´d really need them).
No, they were introduced to protect the sides against anti-tank rifles! The Panzer III and IV have not much armour at the side so that even a 50 cal with the right ammunition could penetrate it! The Soviet 14.5mm machine gun would make short work of them!
The idea was that most projectiles deform on impact, even when the armour is too thin to stop it. Then keeping a gap to the main armour prevented the projectile from being guided by the mass around it, thus it could tumble and the chances were high that it would hit the main armour sideways.
As an added bonus, it does work against HE, HESH and HEAT, though HE were probably the initial concern.
We not gonna forget about the panzer 1 with its PZG jäger and the training model which had the panzer 4 F2 turret and a snubbed nosed 5cm cannon

Grinding German tanks is strongly suggested. Start with Pz C/F, and Pz.III B, so that you can get Tiger, Panther and Leopard
The main thing I learned from the Panzer 3 is don't get shot because everyone will die or your ammo will go bye bye

The Panzer IV F2 and G are basically identical, it was when the muzzle break was replaced with the double baffle, the F2 became the G.
