Free gas cap for your Farmall tractor: • Farmall Gasoline Tract...
Change oil and filter with the O Ring every oil change! That sludge you might want to pull you oil pan and take a look! Sludge is not normal! Great video! I have a set of square wrenches! Got them special order from my IH dealer in the 70’s...Of course I didn’t use em lol
Those are as RARE as hens teeth 😯
@@FarmallFanatic yep! Knew it then but they could get em! I also use to the have the original paint code for the Farmalls got that from a buddy at IH in Chicago!
@@americanaxetoolco2076 geesh 😯
@@FarmallFanatic we overhauled dozens of Farmalls! When we needed some thing I got on the phone! Made some good business relationships in those days!
@@americanaxetoolco2076 well needed
Thank you for gas cap recall now the gas will stay in and no fires thank you👍
There is always somebody who knows more than you do! It’s amazing how much sludge settles out of the oil into that little valley. Shows how much dirt that oil cleaned out of the engine.
No doubt
An old mechanic once told me many years ago oil is the best maintenance mechanic you will ever find 🤔💪💪👍
I would put 8 quarts because the extra half a quart will fill up the filter housing if you don't already because that's what I do on my Tractor.
Yep
The only reason for the rain cap backwards is when you tow it down the highway the flap isn’t collecting water and bugs 😂
I always change oil once a year too, even if I haven't put many hours on something :)
You forgot that you have to add 1quart more for the filter. An M takes 9 quart when changing the filter. Been changing oil in an M for over 55 years.
Yea it does make a difference
If any one out there is having a hard time finding 30wt. the John Deere Torq Gard is a low ash high Zinc oil that is designed for long stroke gasoline engines.
Good to know
Never use the petcock on any of those lol and take note if your buying the Case IH oil they have switched to a different supplier from the Old one IH used FL Viscosity to Shell .. And a lot of dealers are sticking with the FL Viscosity Branded. A lot of guys have been noticing the difference in the color and smell of the new Hytran. I have switched over everything to Mobil oils and use some 30 weight and actually have found the 15w40 to work just fine in the IH gasers since it is a Low ash oil now for the emissions diesels .
I would use 15W40 in a pinch
Never use the petcock?
@@FarmallFanatic yeah as the story goes used to change oil so often in the old days they were prone to leak is what grandpa claimed is why i was taught to never use them and always went by the book
After seeing your last video about the Low Ash oil I did a little research on it. It is defiantly better to run in older engines. I stopped by Kafferlin's so I could change the oil in the Ford 8N and Super A. Picked up 2 gallons. They only had one gallon so had to get 4 quarts also. I changes the oil and filter in the Ford. It had sat for 10 years. The sludge in the oil filter was thicker than grease. Clean it out and plan on running it for a few hours and change and flush again. I like dealing with the guys at Kafferin's always helpful. I;ve always called them Crescent wrenches. My cousin calls them "All 16tenths"
Yea Greg at the counter
Nice work keeping up on the Big Red maintenance. BOOM!
Hated vehicle maintenance in the Army, but now that I own these...👍
Oil is changed, good to go! 💥Boom💥
Oil sludge never hurts an IH. The best IH I ever saw was the one my grandfather parked in the shed. He'd start it from time to time. IH couldn't stay out of the Deere way. Always like the videos here. I'm open minded - barely. Eaglegards...
Sometimes the copper washer between the filter housing and the through bolt needs to be changed after a few years if oil changes.
That's one good thing about my mh 44 is I don't have an oil pan gasket left so I never have to change the oil! I just have to add a little bit every time haha
Hahaha had leaky hydraulics one time like that
I am pleased you used the existing bucket, I think you would have made a big mess using the non existent one lol. I like the design of the foot peddle going to the starter soleniod, it looks like the holes have worn on the bracket and as a quick fix you could weld some washers on the outside of the holes on the bracket. Non existing washers would not work :-)
That M is singing. I don’t need your rocking chair. George Jones
Us seasoned IH professionals have special oil pan X-ray vision. We don't need no petcocks. Lol!
🤣
Just changed mine yesterday ih 300u used rotella t1 30 filter at farm n fleet. Nearest Ih dealer is 15 miles further.
the sound of a well tuned H or M was music to my ears on.the farm. non detergent oil sludges up faster than heavy detergent oil
Interesting
Oil change is life.
Boom! 💪❤️
Brings back memories
Every time I order something they bring up Covid.... Here in AR we have been 50k at concerts and events for a couple months!!! Media probably keeping that quite.
Just a few webys there 😂 Its running sweet change of oil will keep her that way. 👍
that started up nice!
I've definitely forgotten to put the fill cap back on once or twice. Thankfully they're heavy enough to sit on the frame rail and not fall off while you're driving around 😅
🤣
U have a very comprehensive toolkit
screwdriver n a wrench 🔧...🤪
I'm surprised your not using the proper wrenchs when changing oil👍
I know someone that has them
Thanks bud just bought my grandpa’s 1948
Good year 👍
Love the Farmall M, cool looking tractor. My neighbor has a Farmall for sale. Its listed as a 1970 International on FB Market Place. It looks like the Cub with a square front grill. Did they still make the Cub in the '70s??. I'm tempted to buy it just to say "I got me a Farmall". He's only asking $2200 for it and it looks pretty nice.
Kickin “A” hoss keep em coming😎 regulators mount up💪🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸enjoy it
Say, did you get two notifications yesterday for the videos I posted or just the one? There's something not quite right going on here. The vid with the 806 has 1.7k views & the one with the 560 has.... 138???? I simply don't get wth is going on. The 806 may be a popular muscle tractor (yuck), but 560 is not what I would consider old news.
You will find out that some videos get pushed, and other videos do not get pushed.. it's all up to UA-cam
@@FarmallFanatic Ohhhhhhh! Got it, thanks!
My dad's tractor his Ford 8n. The oil hasn't been changed in 20 years neither has the air filter or the oil filter. And it still runs. He still uses it
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
And your proud of that 🤔
@@bustersmith5569 no. But my dad incest that it's running good. And he will change it when he's ready too.
Using a vice grips will bugger up the bolt of the Farmall and next time have a hard time putting a wrench on .You are a Farmall Pro right .cjd wash state 👍
Only buggers if you slip and round the squareness, which I did not 👍
Keep the fluids changed and checked.
Warm lube is good lube
It took you 15 mins to figure out how the thumb wrench worked. Lol. Hahahahahaha. What a mechanic. Lol. What happens on the farm stays on the farm. Lol.
Beebeep 😁
That's my cousin... oil cap
Low ash 30 is all I use in all my tractors.
You need some headlights for that old M
I thought about it, but then I might work after dark and who wants that? 🤣
@@FarmallFanatic I’ve had a few dark nights planting with my old Super M. I like my lights so I don’t have to stop a job halfway done
Hi I've allways had rain cap facing back just so it wouldn't catch. Never had a problem with fumes from the tractor. You call your wrench a crescent wrench and I call it an adjustable I've heard both terms just thought I'd tell you. I was wondering on your oil if it says 8 and your putting 7 or 7.5 maybe after starting oil remains in oil filter therefore needs the rest till 8? Just a thought have a good night thanks your video.
I start it up and run it, and before I take it to the field, I will check it again because that filter takes about a 1/2 a quart
Have you thought about unbolting the part under the filter to clean the sludge if there’s any?
Yeah I've thought about it
@@FarmallFanatic you are probably leery about doing it like I would. I’d be scared I would break off one of the bolts but maybe not. If there’s sludge there it could block the passage or it’s making your oil dirty prematurely
Best maintained machine is fresh oil
good video man good job
Everybody thinks they know everything but most of them don't know jack.
I mean if they know how to breathe and eat, they will at least stay alive 🤣
My Dad grew up on a dairy farm and you have to be a mechanic, plumber, electrician , carpenter and farmer all in one. . That fool that said you arent a mechanic probably isnt very good!!
Agree
@@FarmallFanatic definitely. Really enjoying your channel it brings me back to my childhood days on the farm, driving an old international truck for hay . I was too small to throw it but I was big enough To reach the pedals and steering wheel. Lololol Merica needs to get back to those days and THANK YOU for your service in the military. My Dad , Uncle and a few cousins were vets. !!!!
@@davidstoughton3257 appreciate it 🙏
Boom! I'll trade you my cub cadet for your 756! I'll expect delivery as well ;)
I want all of your equipment for free and that includes delivery
Thanks.
Just a suggestion spray the sludge out brake kleen or starter fluid not trying to tell you how to do it
I agree
Good day Yrs ago at work there was a fellow who would run motor while draining oil out, he thought it got more out. What does filter cost for M Thanks
Like 15 bucks I think
Was that snake oil
Yep lol
Hi FF! Big Red...the legendary M...great looking old tractor. Like you I change the oil in my 140 at least once a year as well as the filter and gasket. Mine has a filter and gasket like yours just not that tall. No doubts here you take care of those old boys. You can look at them and tell that. For the benefit of the youngsters out there, here's the original "Disco Duck"...enjoy! 😊ua-cam.com/video/97RjuC9YeXg/v-deo.html
No 544/340 to show off?
👍
Fun fact: you can get your pulley re-done to factory spec by the company in Tennessee that bought the original machinery. It's made from sheets of straw pulp "paper", pressed together like plywood and riveted by reallly long rivets. Paperpulleys dot com. I happened across the website by accident.
That is an extremely fun fact
Dude vice grips... Really?
