so many treasures are lost in places like this. some body could make a team to go in these old shops and clean them out. young strong backs and trash truck. keep the good stuff. thanks for show
It was because of me that this whole discovery came about. I hooked Dan up with the Corvette. I'm glad to see the Merc is in the right hands and you saved some stuff from that basement. The heads I'm sure were for a New Yorker that the owner (Gary) drove. I understand he also had a 429 Ranchero at one time. Cant wait to pass this video to some other local guys and again really happy to see that old car safe and sound.
Hi Anthony, We apologize you weren't fully credited as we didn't get the entire full background on it. It was a really great chance to document saving another old car! Thanks for filling in the back story some more! -Matt/ITG
@@IronTrapGarage That's ok. I'm happy that those cars went to the right homes. I think that's me hanging over the hood of the Corvette. I tried to sell the Merc for Marvin as well but no one here was interested. It's a cool video you did too.
I like listening to you. I truly believe your a very nice person. And very informative. Thank you for the video. GODBLESS be safe.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really hope that gets finished as a custom, it has an awesome stance and I bet it handles pretty well with those sideways shocks- a lot less body roll
This reminds me of them back of my grandpas shop. One day while me and my cousin where there we just started going through it. Most of it was just junk but there was a lot of engines and tools. We got it all out and broke down a wall and set up a nice machining room for him.
Hay Matt great video, again. Something how there is still cool stuff in places waiting to be seen/found. When I saw the heads under the garbage, thought you missed them. Glad you got them to pass on. Shock boxes awesome and the other items as well. Can’t wait for Hershey
Great video, nice to find these old cars and parts. Going to make a cool hot rod, getting harder to find old projects, but there still out there. Hope to see where they go with this project. Thanks for sharing this cool find Matt.
Great video, It's encouraging to know the old cars are still out there. It's been a life long dream to find a Model A and restore it to original I have recently thought about expanding my time period to late 30's also. It's great to see others living the dream.
Really cool find! That radical channel look, while not my favorite was a sort of East Coast early custom look-a la Cord 810- no skirts, running boards and a deep channel job often accompanied by a chopped top(if you could $wing it lol). I think your mission is clear-finish that Merc! lol Thanks fer takin us along- Really enjoyed your GNRS road trip, especially the Chop-It drive by. Although I didn't know Gary, he was an acquaintance that ran in the same circle of early hot rod/kustom guys. He was a Long Island guy back then(80's-90's), and was always amazed at his talent and the stuff he was turning out. Matt, I have been binge watching your videos while sheltering in place during the COVID 19 pandemic. I subscribed after watching one or two of your videos and always look forward to what you will send our way next. Cheers
My thought exactly . it's good opportunity to finish it up- old school since it's kind messed up already, so much fine steel to work with and not too rusty! ... I'd even rust treat their old flame cut mods and leave them!
Hi, Glad to see another 39 Merc come out of the woodwork .I found the remains of a 39 convertible (all 4 fenders bobbed ,no interior and no engine ) back in 63 and was purchased for $ 25.00 . It is now fully restored back to original . The body no vis 11 C 94 interpreted as November 1938 Canadian 94th unit built making it one of the earliest Merc built. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out . Kem
Dude thanks . East coast huh. Awesome to see I like learning about the early styles of Rodding it's just history that's beginning to fade away over time. I like that car. Be neat to just put it together and finish it off as the builder intended. Everyone loves old school until they see how it was done, then they run away screaming, but it doesn't bother me.

Great video, I think I would definitely try to get this Merc running again, but I'd put a Ford engine in it! A nice flathead Ford would be the ticket.
Right on, a Ford engine in a Ford, a Chevy engine in a Chevy, a Dodge engine in a Dodge.
Dave Kauffman , absolutely! A Chevy engine in a Mercury is just wrong!
Exactly! And I just so happens to have A bone stock 32 mill in my shop!
