LOVE Fern !! I'm getting a baby BT soon and am so excited...just wondering how Fern is doing at night now? Does she sleep with you guys or in the crate. I'm really anxious about getting our little one to sleep at night and not keep us all awake. How is the routine going now. Did she ever just cry it out in her crate and how are you handling it now ?

She does excellent in the crate now and will go right into it with the command “kennel” and sleeps with us at night now. We had to let her cry it out for a solid two weeks though, it was tough at first but if you stick with it hopefully you’ll have a kennel trained dog as you never know when you’ll need to contain them. I kennel her when we’re gone because she can’t be trusted on potty training or eating things unsupervised still!

@@brianandheatheroutdoors Thanks so much for responding. I forgot to ask you where you kept the crate at night when you first brought fern home. Those first few nights when she went in the crate to bed for the night did you put her crate in another room or in your room. Did you put her in there and then leave the room and let her cry for most of the night.....I'm afraid I'll get so upset hearing our pup ( Harper) crying that I'll give in and bring her to bed with me. I'm just a softee when it comes to Boston Terriers !!

You have to think of your puppy’s paw pads like hands. It’s cruel to make her hike on ice just like it’s cruel to make them walk on hot asphalt in the summer. Please get her some booties! I couldn’t watch this whole video, poor thing was freezing. - Sincerely a fellow MN with a senior Boston

She has Canada pooch suspender booties that she wears, they were just too big for her at that point so we opted for mushers paw wax this day instead and we carried her a lot during the walk and only set her down a bit when we grabbed some phone footage. It was a warmer day and she tolerated it well. I’ve had Bostons in Michigans UP for 15 years now and definitely protect their paws when needed. This was mostly sand except the one stretch and I felt comfortable with my judgement that day. Thanks for being concerned about our Ferny though!
