Netflix - The Witcher OST - Jaskier Song Scene - Toss A Coin To Your Witcher
Lyrics:
When a humble bard
Graced a ride along
With Geralt of Rivia
Along came this song
From when the White Wolf fought
A silver-tongued devil
His army of elves
At his hooves did they revel
They came after me
With masterful deceit
Broke down my lute
And they kicked in my teeth
While the devil’s horns
Minced our tender meat
And so cried the Witcher
He can’t be bleat
Toss a coin to your Witcher
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’
Toss a coin to Your Witcher
O’ Valley of Plenty
At the edge of the world
Fight the mighty horde
That bashes and breaks you
And brings you the morn’
He thrust every elf
Far back on the shelf
High up on the mountain
From whence it came
He wiped out your pest
Got kicked in his chest
He’s a friend of humanity
So give him the rest
That’s my epic tale
A champion prevailed
Defeated the villain
Now pour him some ale
Toss a coin to your Witcher
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’
Toss a coin to your Witcher
And friend of humanity
Toss a coin to your Witcher
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’
And friend of humanity
Toss a coin to your Witcher
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’ Valley of Plenty
O’
Toss a coin to your Witcher
A friend of humanity - Фільми й анімація
Even Geralt is like "hmmmm this is catchy"
Lol for some reason by reading this comment and looking at his face I can't stop laughing 😂😂😂😂😂
@@ashtech-sampleworld-2074 me too hahahaha
😂😂yeah, his expression says: Fuck, this is actually good
*hmmmmm*
Honestly if youve him in other witcher media it's probably that. He's actually quite a simple dude.
In fact part of the humor in the witcher is people creating these great heroic myths and stories around a guy who's literally just trying to do his job and make it to the pub before it closes.
Geralt only ever steps up because hes got such a strong moral compass in spite of him always trying to do the "smart" thing. There's no glory in it, Half of his character is him trying to hide the fact that he's a such a good guy deep down, cause if that got out he'd never be left alone lol

When you get a nat 20 on performance

Couldn't help but notice that this song sounds more like a musical number than an actual song from the setting
You should listen to the Spanish version. Terrifying... He sounds like a crazy chicken... What a shame!!!
As someone else has said on many other videos, this is the catchiest way to basically say "This guy risks his life every day to keep you bastards alive, give him a damn break. Oh and give him some money."
Or maybe its Jaskiers way of saying "toss a coin to me" 😂 we all know that dandelion only goes on adventures because he is looking for epic shit to write about
Agreed. Geralt is considered (and called) a freak and worse yet he is literally the one person who would stand between them and the dangerous monsters that inhabit that world. This is why I love the series. It's grim and there are no right answers.
And it's moving to see Cavill playing perfetcly a "Geralt suddendly realizing that Jaskier points out what his life truly is".
That's why Gerald was concerned what the bard was doing. Because he was over exaggerating the story, making it seem like he killed the elves. Gerald was concerned whether to let him sing with disrespect towards the elves but gratifying the witcher or to shut up. The lesser of evils basically. Jaskier even said in the show "respect doesn't make history" this quote alone was extremely humane. It shows both, how the bard is a bootlicker to the Victors of history (humans vs Scoia'Tael) and how humans are in a way just like monsters. I think the witcher came to the conclusion that the bard, though saying a false story and being disrespectful, is doing a greater good by hiding the elves's identity and by promoting the witcher so locals don't attack the monsters and rather hire the witcher to do the job.
@@gdwnet Even though he got kicked in the chest, he always finds the way to shrug it off and get the job done.

I felt the absolute same, after this episode I actually felt engaged in the show, before I was waiting for smth to reel me in. THIS was it.
I want to point out that everyone acts like Jaskier's a bad bard in the show, and his songs seem kindof out of place in the setting...
The joke here is that he is quite literally ahead of his time
The modern pop-music sound just ties in with other "modern" elements of The Witcher - such as mutagens, and chemistry being able to defeat the biology of certain kinds of foes.
Not to mention, Ciri's visions of an alternate world where people fly in metal, and communicate almost instantly even while thousands of miles apart, and ride in horseless carriages ...
There is also an acknowledgement of genetics - as pertaining to elves and humans, and cross-breeds.
The whole premise of Geralt himself is that he has survived a deadly cocktail of drugs as a young boy - and then gets to enhance his abilities.
Mai Nem great analysis

@@tadeogil5787 Good Idea and actually quite doable but the hard thing would be to make it not stand out too much so you would have to put in multiple variations of the song in different speeds and tones and different volumes and obviously not have them overlap. What I really like about this song is that we're hearing Geralt's legend grow. At first, only Dandelion is singing, but as his song grows in popularity and reaches more people, so too does the orchestra, the volume. It's also done as the scene changes to indicate that the song is heard all around, as reinforced in a later episode when all of the villagers in the tavern sing along with Jaskier. This is also when the show reminds us that, although the main characters are uninterested in his poetry, Dandelion is a truly renowned and extremely talented bard. Good storytelling.
That Ummmm undid me, truly, Henry did a fantastic job here with Geralt, and Jaskier/Dandelion is such a breath of fresh air xD

If yall want more of Jaskier's lovely voice, Joey Batey, his actor, is in a band called The Amazing Devil! Their music is great!

@@coolkenny13 they were mages who couldn’t harness Chaos. So instead of having them leave on a sour note, knowing most secrets of Aretuza, and possibly making new enemies out of them, Tissaia put them to “better use” by powering Aretuza and being “the conduit” of Chaos.
At least that’s how I see it.
after I read your comment I watched it again with that in mind and cannot deacribe how it felt along with the music😵😵😵
I think that this is the scene that made me realize they were going to do the Games and Books justice.
The small exchange between them was just so perfect and true to character, even down to Geralts little reluctant smile before he rides on.
Whatever liberties they end up taking with the overall story, the adaptation of the characters is absolutely flawless.
Most of the characters are done faithfully. That doesn't include Triss however (she's completely different in the show from how she is in the games and books). Or Fringilla for that matter.
@@dstacyify I'm willing to give Triss a decent shot though because all her material in this season is original. She doesn't appear until book 3 and is only mentioned a few times in book 2 so we'll have to see once she's actually portraying actual adapted scenes.
@@danielyoung6778 she’s also rly miscast not to say the actress is bad she did a good job but she just doesn’t fit triss imo but i’m currentlx on the 3rd episode and i just hope they do ciri right as she’s my favorite character
Just give her red hair and she’s good for me
The characters are the only part of the show that is adapted well. Most of the short-stories that they adapt in S1 needed atleast an entire episode to themselves, but they instead had the episodes split between three different plot-branches, which meant that most of Geralt's adventures had a lot of nuance and actual development cut out. The Lesser Evil story was incredibly dumbed down and not at all as impactful as it was in The Last Wish book, for example. And now that S2 is out, I can safely say that the characters are the ONLY thing the show got right, which is sad because the actors genuinely seem like they're doing their damnest to do the characters justice, but the writers and showrunners are fucking it up.
Reminder that in the Witcher Universe that Magic is easily focused through strong emotion and clever wordplay.
Jaskier has been placing a long-term enchantment of success on Geralt for decades.....
