@Hans Otto Kroeger Kaethler it's called the Foreign Tax Credit. You deduct taxes paid to other countries from what you owe in the US. It prevents unfair double taxation. Trump didn't create that credit. It has existed for over a century in one form or another, and only a fiscal idiot would forego the credit on purpose.

I was in business when American corporations and financiers began the big push to move their production “offshore” back in the 1990’s. Offshore was a euphemism for China. We were told that in the future things would be made on a “just in time” basis and this would result in lower prices, less waste and the quality of the products would be just as good if not better while timely delivery would not be jeopardized. You be the judge of the veracity of those claims today. The prime motivation to relocate American production to China, as always in a capitalist system, was increased profits for the companies. There was no regard for the loss of American jobs, or any other such concerns on the part of the CEO’s and venture capitalists and the legislators they bought off with campaign contributions. It was all about the bottom line, baby. So when someone wants to talk about “shady ties to China” without mention of the glaringly obvious ties to China of American corporations, bankers and legislators the gap is so huge as to dwarf just about anyone or any thing else including Joe Biden. We got sold out by greedheads plain and simple and our own acceptance of access to products at a cheaper price makes all of us accomplices to the situation we find ourselves in with China today. The only good news is that you have to have a seller AND a buyer to have a transaction and if we were to collectively abandon our buyer role the seller ceases to exist. But that’s a big if. And sacrifice of the kind I’m talking about hasn’t been seen in this country since World War Two.
