Many people in this world only view the bad things in life, and instantly call life absolutely terrible without actually looking at all the good and amazing things in the world. It is kind of sad really.
TheRealJoshy (I posted my initial answer to the wrong comment.) Concerning your post, I got a little teary eyed when he was talking about all the things he'd like to see: the ocean, the sky, the earth...
Molly Burke made a video or two on her channel on things that fascinate her about sight. I definitely recommend checking them out, they make you think of that stuff too
I honestly do wonder... if he was given the opportunity to see and the first thing he looked at were two pictures, one of a conventionally "ugly" person and one of a conventionally "beautiful" person, would he be able to tell which is which right away? Like is beauty a natural thing or is it something we are only socialized to discern? Food for thought...
He'd probably go "what the hell am I looking at" considering it would take him a long time for his brain to process what a person even IS, not to mention what colors and shapes and pictures are to his brain So I'm gonna go with no, he wouldn't be able to tell lol
please watch the movie, At First Sight 1999. It will give you a new perspective. Or atleast^ research what the movie is all about.. then it's up to you if you would give it a go.. You wont regret if you try and watch it.. ;)
It’s because he speaks the language he’s learned from people who can see. Language was created by people who can see and so we describe things that way. So when he uses that language it would sound as if he could see.
I've heard a Russian surgeon, Muldashev successfully performed eye transplant over a decade ago. In addition, anyone can order eyes (and other organs) from death row prisoners. So it's not actually impossible for him to regain his eyesight.
+Joe Maloney His eye condition is an underdeveloped optic nerve. Aka the nerve that connects the eyes to the brain. So no, it's not the eye. I think he also has cataracts but that can be removed.
TheBaldr I haven't seen a childbirth but I've felt what it's like, midwife asked me if I wanted a mirror to look at the crowning... nooooo thank you lol
I cried a little because I was about to go blind because of an eye disease at age 17. I was already surrender. I knew I would go blind, but a few months before it happened I got a cornea transplant and doctors saved my eyesight. Watching this video made me think so much. How my life would have been like. And what about everything that I would not have seen yet.
@@paragonpastry To be clear, when people talk about an eye transplant, they’re talking about a transplant of part(s) of the eye, usually the cornea. The whole eye can’t be transplanted since that would sever the optic nerve, which can’t be reconnected/repaired once cut (at least with current medicine)
I really hope a surgery comes out and he is able to see and makes a video about him seeing everything he wished. That would be the most amazing thing of all time.
Yeah becuase of what psychologist call "brain plasticity" the brain developing without the ability to see will adapt accordingly and use the occipital (vision) centers for other functions leaving the original occipital lobe funtions either dead or no longer a vision center. So even if he did regain vision, at his age it's highly unlikely he would ever be able to use it like we do or on the level that we do
Kathleen O'Donovan It's so sad seeing people with difficulties to live "normally". People with mental illnes, people with incapacities, people with deadly illness (terminal patients), people who died to young, people with economic trouble (poor). If there was an actual way of getting a magic wish, i would instantly use it for world peace and sanity in all ways. Or i would wish for more wishes...
I heard human ears are now possible to be made/grown. So hey, anything is possible. It's pretty hard to imagine an actual biological eye being made though but it'd be the greatest thing ever since sliced bread.
They are getting very good at restoring hearing! They cannot cure all cases but they can cure a whole bunch of them! Sight is much more difficult to restore because of the mecanism of how the brain perceives an image and fill in everything to make depth perception and everything. It's much more complex, but science is evolving very fast! They already have devices that allow people with certain type of blindness to see, but it's use is quite limited.
Hi Tommy, you said that you'd like to see someone beautiful and someone ugly. I was wondering, if when that happen, the ugly people was presented as the beautiful one and vice versa. Would you believe that?
If he saw both he would be able to distinguish. However if he saw an ugly person first he would believe that they're beautiful because he has nothing to compare it to. That my take on it anyways..
I don't think he would have the taste to tell beautiful or ugly, remember that he hasn't seen or visualized anything ever in his life. I think he would maybe guess if he saw the other but if he saw both at the same time I don't know, all he sees is just two humans
This makes me sad too. But I can't really blame myself for taking things for granted bacause I've been seeing them for a really long time. This man hasn't seen anything in his life

Man this makes me feel especially bad for you. The night sky really hit me as it is one of the most beautiful things i have seen once when i was in a camp and there was barely any light pollution. It was astonishing
Me too, I just realized that he’s never seen the beautiful sky, the sun sets or rises and the shapes and shades of the clouds, and the moon and stars at night. The sky is one of the most beautiful things we can see, and he can’t even touch or feel it to conceptualize it.
Watching this made me cry. not in a bad way, or in pity. But simply the positivity radiating from this wonderful man moved me, reminding me of the little things i take for granted. Struggling with depression like i used to can make you hate the world around you, and yet this person cannot see all the suffering around him but wants to experience it with a new and fresh light. You're truly a wonderful man, and I'm glad the world gets to have your smile in it. I respect you, Tommy, with all my heart. Your positive ways remind me that life is about the little things, and teach me to slow down once in a while. Thank you, Tommy.
It is somewhat sad that he doesn't get to experience these things, but he's such a positive and lovely man. Don't feel bad, sounds like he's living a very fulfilling life.
if he had his sight, i would love to watch a video of you trying to match famous people / other youtubers (including yourself) to an actual photo of them. i think that would so interesting.
You're right, but I wasn't implying having just a day. Imagine him seeing a picture of like VSauce and saying something like "Oh that's definitely PewDiePie" haha I'd get a kick out of it
He understands the world really well but he can't see it, only has notions of it. Every single time I watch his videos I cry because I feel so lucky and grateful to have eyesight. It's truly wonderful to be able to see. God bless you Tommy, you are a great human being. I wish I could trade you my vision for your blindness at least for a day or 2
This makes me want to cry because the simplest things in life are so beautiful and to be able to see them is something I will never take for granted! Thanks Tommy!
I am not 100% sure but I think those glasses are for people who have a different kind of eye damage (for a lack of a better word) than him unfortunately

Hey, Tommy, is your "appetite for destruction" based off of all of these experiences you've had? Things that you know about, but only 3/4 of the information that sighted people have? If so, I can understand you would want to be able to FULLY comprehend that experience. Anyways, Keep on keeping on!
Tommy is such a breath of fresh air on UA-cam. Such a genuine and nice guy. Hope his channel continues to grow because this man needs more recognition than he gets! Keep making us smile Tommy!
CGI is wonderful. It is imagination brought to life. You hear stories about things that don't exist, like aliens, or fairies, or magic spells, and CGI allows these stories to take real-life form. It's really cool! Also, some stuff you might want to see would be nature-based, snow falling all around you, waterfalls, fields of wheat or corn, mountain ranges, forests of evergreen trees, gardens, a herd of buffalo running across the plains, a flock of birds flying across the sky. Oh! And sunsets. They're amazing.
This! I hope he reads it! He can't see these things in his mind anyways, since he doesn't know what they look like persay, but CGI allows stories to be made into movies, even the impossible things.
It's impossible to constantly be in a state of awe and joy, no need to feel guilty about it. Similarly, it's not like Tommy is in a constant state of sadness and disappointment because he can't see, he's used to being blind like we are used to seeing.

The Tommy Edison Experience I'm not entirely sure if you were looking for an answer to this but in order to put a 3d objects onto a piece of paper you need to first imagine how it would feel to be holding a hollow circle. now imagine that the circle is flatten as then or dinner then paper. that is a drawing of a circle. now imagine a arc somewhere in the center of the circle and the texture from it to the edge is gradually different. people who can see you would see it as a three dimensional objects if this is done correctly.
Although Tommy does not have sight, he has something a lot of us don't. He has a wonderful personality, a contagious smile and the ability to bring thousands of people together by making insightful videos.
That was quite interesting. It made me a bit sad and I must confess a bit ashamed. I think most of us sighted people take sight for granted. We don't always realize how much we have been given with the gift of sight. Thanks Tommy for your perspective on this topic.

I never thought how much I take seeing for granted. You never really go outside and just look at the neighborhood and sky just to see it. But this guy would love to do it.
We should create a crowdfunding to buy him one of those devices that can make blind people see. There are those Bionic eyes, and that thing that allows them to see with the tongue.
This channel popped up in my feed today and I can’t stop watching. I’m tearing up watching this thinking about how grateful I am for the things I take for granted. This guy is so genuinely nice, I wish I could give him his one day of sight. I would gladly switch places for a day, he really deserves it.
I love watching Tommy. He makes me look at life another way and realize, I have nothing to bitch about. Tommy would be a friend I would love to have. He would be a true friend, he would like you for who you really are.
tommy is so pure i wish i could give him my eyes for the rest of his life so he could see all the things he wants to with my vision because i have 20/20
It happens to me, who’s sighted. I could have a hard citrus seed in my food. But then I notice it once it’s in my mouth and spit it out. I’m sure it’s the same for him.
One thing I always wondered is that since he is born blind, if the very first thing he saw was a physically attractive naked woman, would he be so weirded out or overwhelmed since everything (including colours) are new to him? Or does his natural instincts come into play and find her completely normal and attractive?
yee. I'd like to see a video of him reviewing the star wars prequels. everyone hates on them because they have bad cgi, so maybe he wouldn't be as biased. :)
At the current amount of subs, if 0.04% of them gave up a day of sight, he could have sight from day 1 to day ~28,000 (the average amount of days in a life)
You know. I have seen a couple of his videos in bits and pieces over the last couple days, but this is the one that got me to subscribe. Very to the point and wholesome. It is immensely interesting to see a blind person from this point of view. That's a recipe for success.
I wish I could give you my eyes. You've never seen things I see everyday. Such as a phone. And if you don't feel bad.. think about it. All the things you see everyday he's never seen. I wish you could get a surgery to get your eyes to be able to see. If there is one... your the most inspiring person I've ever seen
I legit cried. because we take granted for what we're able to see and this man hope of seeing for the first time is basically life. and it really makes you reflect on how grateful to be able to see life more beautifully. thank you Tommy for making this video. God bless your beautiful blind heart :')
Bel yeah im really curious whether he has dreams, cos dreams are based of your memories and experiences that you'e had but if he has never seen anything before (?)
I really think that this is such an awesome perspective. I have been across the US several times and I always like new experiences, even if they arent always pleasant. Experiencing new things is always great! I've been through natural disasters, I've seen The Great Lakes, I've seen wild animals and birds that were on the brink of extinction. I've gone hunting, fishing, hiking, and canoeing. I've seen some horrible things too. I've seen a child with a crushed pelvis, dead cats and dogs, a stillborn calf, and several dead people. I've seen horrible accidents and people burning alive. I completely understand wanting to see all of it. Those experiences are indescribably valuable. I've seen events that nobody else has seen and never will and that is awesome. It may sometimes be shocking or gut-wrenching, but to look away or try to forget these things would be a disservice to myself and the poor souls that suffered. Every new sight has value. They contain knowledge and wisdom just waiting to be obtained. I carry all of that with me and I share what I can with others so that we all can learn and grow with one another. Curiosity is never something to be discouraged. Not ever.
Tommy, I understand this may be an inappropriate question, but have you ever considered trying the psychedelic substance DMT? I have read some reports (as have you, I'm pretty sure) that blind since birth people actually "see" something under the influence. They might not make sense of it, but they really DO. And I'm pretty sure people have already suggested that. But still, think about it.

I would love to see you colab with another blind person (but not since birth) and see how they can describe sight to you
Man this makes me feel especially bad for you.
I see it every day i live in the woods its amazing how much i take it for granite
Tommy, you are really inspiring. I love your optimism
This video actually made me feel bad for Tommy 😥
He wouldn't want you to feel bad- he's loving life man
Well, that makes one of you...
It is somewhat sad that he doesn't get to experience these things, but he's such a positive and lovely man. Don't feel bad, sounds like he's living a very fulfilling life.
Tommy deserves sight a lot more than some people.
if he had his sight, i would love to watch a video of you trying to match famous people / other youtubers (including yourself) to an actual photo of them. i think that would so interesting.
stet8310 he has one day... that would be a waste of time
You're right, but I wasn't implying having just a day.
I wish I could trade you my vision for your blindness at least for a day or 2
Crybaby.
Juan Garcia hey same name hahahah
Spaceman Spliff what a pathetic, moronic comment. Grow up and keep your stupid shit to yourself you fucking child
Geeze, pull yourself together.
Steel Skin learn to take a joke bimbo
This makes me want to cry because the simplest things in life are so beautiful and to be able to see them is something I will never take for granted! Thanks Tommy!
This is why we must invest in cybernetic eyes. These people are just too pure for this world.

@@hoo192xxman4 oh yeah!
Awww... I know it's a stretch, but I hope in this guy's lifetime they'll be able to somehow cure his blindness. He's so positive despite his handicap.
Katie Greason we have invented it
Katie Greason stupid expensive butttttttt you can get sort of high tech glasses and wire them into your brain
Hes positive because he doesn't know he has a handicap. He was born blind, everything is normal to him.
Nathan McClure I would definitely contribute to a go fund me to get him some of those
I am not 100% sure but I think those glasses are for people who have a different kind of eye damage (for a lack of a better word) than him unfortunately
I know you are happy but I would love to give you sight :(
id trade, he'd be much more appreciative.
well u cant so stfu and enjoy the video
Who knew blind people had such a thing for destruction?
Congrats and thanks for the laugh. You're the winner of this week's giveaway. Please contact us here to claim your prize: blindfilmcritic.com/contact-us/
Hey, Tommy, is your "appetite for destruction" based off of all of these experiences you've had? Things that you know about, but only 3/4 of the information that sighted people have? If so, I can understand you would want to be able to FULLY comprehend that experience. Anyways, Keep on keeping on!
mannystella its human nature
dank, did my comment make sense? Sometimes I am guilty of CUI.
Dylan Peterson I was replying to OP, not you.
This guy would appreciate everything WAAAY more than us seeing folk would. It would be so genuine and pure I love the thought of him seeing
Tommy is such a breath of fresh air on UA-cam. Such a genuine and nice guy. Hope his channel continues to grow because this man needs more recognition than he gets! Keep making us smile Tommy!
Big Chris no one killed him lol
do i really have to spell it out for you?
Big Chris please
Big Chris hilarious
Big Chris I mean he is, is there a problem
This makes me so thankful that I can see. Sight is such a gift we don't often think about.
They're amazing.
he can't visualize so he doesn't have a visual imagination.
This! I hope he reads it! He can't see these things in his mind anyways, since he doesn't know what they look like persay, but CGI allows stories to be made into movies, even the impossible things.
Triumvirate888 spiders. He would freak the fck out
Triumvirate888 I read this comment imagining Tommy's voice
I really hope that tommy is gonna be here for the day when technology enables blind people to have vision.
The things we take for granted. I'm a bit ashamed to be honest. I don't think people appreciate the little things.
It's impossible to constantly be in a state of awe and joy, no need to feel guilty about it. Similarly, it's not like Tommy is in a constant state of sadness and disappointment because he can't see, he's used to being blind like we are used to seeing.

The Tommy Edison Experience lol
What do you do all day if you can t see anything.... I couldn t even imagine that i can t see anything all day long every day...:-(
The Tommy Edison Experience can you see things around you
Demar Pasya No he can't that is the point, he is compleatly BLIND😂.
He probably thinks racism is so dumb
Amena Shukairy doesn't everyone
Maddy good point haha
Maddy more like *shouldn't* everyone?
You shouldn't even need to be blind to think that ^^

Although Tommy does not have sight, he has something a lot of us don't. He has a wonderful personality, a contagious smile and the ability to bring thousands of people together by making insightful videos.
He's the kind of person that can make you feel sad and happy at the same time
That was quite interesting.
Não Morra Tommy is blind since birth and there are no device that can enable him to see as of now
n00bie not even a new eyes?
Slendarz sorry kiddo reality isn't that easy just getting new eyes won't work
Karma Akabane but, maybe in the future?
Slendarz I can't say it's impossible to happen in the future. but i can"t say it will happen next year, next 100 years maybe
loved the vid Tom thanks for the insight
Michael Alan 😂😂😂
Who even dislikes anything like this!?
It'sThea did you get burned just asking cases your profile shows that is your hand I feel bad for you and hope you get better
Jaden plays no, its special effects. No burns

I do
This channel popped up in my feed today and I can’t stop watching. I’m tearing up watching this thinking about how grateful I am for the things I take for granted. This guy is so genuinely nice, I wish I could give him his one day of sight. I would gladly switch places for a day, he really deserves it.
I noticed he laughs alot
this video made me emotional, really makes you think about how much we take seeing for granted ✨
I love your happiness. Your voice sound so so happy! You are so positive guy and you make me happy and thinking positive! By the way I'm from Finland.
I love watching Tommy. He makes me look at life another way and realize, I have nothing to bitch about. Tommy would be a friend I would love to have. He would be a true friend, he would like you for who you really are.
5:38 i feel personally attacked
Why? He's not dissing anybody with sight. He's just stating the things he would like to see. I hope and pray one day, he will get to see them.

tommy is so pure i wish i could give him my eyes for the rest of his life so he could see all the things he wants to with my vision because i have 20/20
Jordan Hughes that's sad because the problem is not his eyes, its his optical nerve. So it will not cure his vision by giving your eyes :(
We really take our sight for granted sometimes. I’m so grateful
When you're eating, do you ever worry about picking something up that isn't food and then putting it into your mouth?
It happens to me, who’s sighted. I could have a hard citrus seed in my food. But then I notice it once it’s in my mouth and spit it out. I’m sure it’s the same for him.
jesus...i'd give away everything to give tommy even a minute to see... such a genuine guy.
One thing I always wondered is that since he is born blind, if the very first thing he saw was a physically attractive naked woman, would he be so weirded out or overwhelmed since everything (including colours) are new to him? Or does his natural instincts come into play and find her completely normal and attractive?
these videos make me realise how we take being able to see for granted
Trust me Tommy, you don't want to see child birth.
Payton Thaxton hahhah lol, but. u r right
Payton Thaxton we all have seen one
+Ukko Ihamäki
I had my eyes shut so I didn't see it xD
Sonny Knutson lol xD
Payton Thaxton lmao
"I'd like to see CGI"
If you saw Jar Jar Binks, you'd want to unsee CGI
yee. I'd like to see a video of him reviewing the star wars prequels. everyone hates on them because they have bad cgi, so maybe he wouldn't be as biased. :)
epicendergamer the script is worse than the cgi. XD actually, the cgi is one of the better parts of the films tbh
"i don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."
epicendergamer XD best quote. Lmao
How about I go blind for a day and he gets his sight back for a day
- FardeenXD if 25% of his subs do that he would be able to see for the rest of his life
If every subscriber donates an hour of sight he would be able to see for the rest of his life.
I literally cried. This is incredible content. I love this guy
I don't know why, but this makes me so sad :(
I know😢
I love how contagious your excitement with the world we already live in is, its exciting!
Respect to Tommy's virtual eye who described him about a night sky, it's so touching.
I legit cried. because we take granted for what we're able to see and this man hope of seeing for the first time is basically life. and it really makes you reflect on how grateful to be able to see life more beautifully. thank you Tommy for making this video. God bless your beautiful blind heart :')
What are your dreams like? Do you have dreams?
Bel yeah im really curious whether he has dreams, cos dreams are based of your memories and experiences that you'e had but if he has never seen anything before (?)
Daniel T He's done a video on this.
Bel watch his latest video. he explains it
He doesn't
I don’t think he has ever read any reports on it but he has maybe heard some.
I thought about this too but with mushrooms! I wonder what he'd see.
He has a video explaining a time he did lsd and didnt see anything because his brain has no perception of light
If they see, they don't know what is going on, so they don't know if they are seeing
