So I found out a few days ago on the Tesseract live stream commentary about this album, that they don't play the intro on guitar.
Basically the guitars are playing the clean parts in the background, so I figured I would do it anyway, because it's the most confusing part in the song.
Most of the tab was done saturday or sunday, and had a few changes like which octave the notes were in and such, and it also required a TON of practice for the intro.
This might have been the hardest out of all the covers I've done from this album!
Also if Acle sees this, thanks for the Instagram clip of the breakdown, that helped a ton!
If you enjoy what I do and want to support me, then I would really appreciate it, if you hit the subscribe button to help grow this channel, thanks!

The intro pattern, at least from how I learned it is:
    1 2 1 2 2 1 2 3
    1 2 2
    1 2 1 2 2 1 2 3
    1 2 2 2 1 1 2 2(1
The last one works as a 3 but the last hit of the 3 is the same as the 1 at the start.
It's a 9 BAR LOOP(???????????) and you'll notice the section after the intro is also 9 bar loops, until the breakdown.
    But the pattern is essentially:
    1 2 1 2 2 1 2 3
    1 2 2
    REPEAT THAT
    and then add 2 1 1 2 2 (1
    to the last one!

It’s definitely confusing but It might help to count it differently because it’s all 4/4.
Like any section you have written there ending with a 3 and the following section of 1, they’re likely thinking of it as 2 2 or 1234.

Its funny, when i played metal back in the 2000s, we always used that kind of notation for writing breakdowns.. over the years i have learned more and more about music theory, and entirely forgot thats how i used to write music. Ive often wondered why writing music seems harder these days and your comment made me have this ephiphany. thanks!

@@flataffect But doesn't that make the 3's confusing in the middle of the loop, like how would it look with that method on paper

I don't understand how this rhythm fits perfectly at the end of the measure, it's extremely clever as Foak

    Thank you ffs.. 🤘

Legion is also a very cool track, but i like the 2 others a bit more, from first listen, another technical monster with intensity. And once again 10/10 played no flaws as far as I could see, which is pretty insane, in terms of the track composition, this is not easy 4/4 tracks for sure. The vocals in this one reminds me a bit of Townsend at times, which is AWESOME!!!! make sure to like this track and subscribe to the channel to help oit grow, the bigger the better, and more songs will come out of it. learning guitar from periphery, monuments and, tesseract has made odd ass fucking patterns like the intro second nature to me but i have no clue how to categorize them by like time sigs and such

you put it in the daw to change the effect alone or you change it yourself with the quad cortex switch?

    • @TheEternalFlavour
      @TheEternalFlavour  11 місяців тому +1

So changing from distortion to clean to distortion like in this video, that was done manually.
Volume automation like louder at the end and quieter at the start, as well as some EQ'ing, that gets done after the recording!

So I really really want to, however some songs are pretty quiet and I don't think would do well for a cover, and others are super difficult, so we'll see

@@TheEternalFlavoursecond this! Would totally love to see a full album cover, especially Tender and Sirens. The mix on Tender makes it tricky to figure out though haha the clean guitars are pretty quiet and overlap. I’ve been working on figuring it out too but it’s hard haha
