    Yeah Jammin, right again, Slave was another funk band that was a reckoning force back in the day. This song was a "monster" when the vinyl hit the radio stations and the dance floor.

    LOVE “Slide”. One of my favorite songs by Slave. You caught the bicycle horn, but you didn’t catch that the other sound you hear is from an actual 10-speed bicycle wheel turning.

    Doing a comparison on the generations which may be unfair a little, but, these artists were really for the most part, right out of high school. The ability to write, actually PLAY the music, sing in their own voices, and most importantly, not copying others made a difference for our range of music. Slave didn't sound like Con Funk Shun, the Bar Kays didn't sound like the Isley Brothers. Every group had their own sound which made the creative competition better with each group.

    Yes! High school days in the Land of Funk, Dayton, OH! Yes, they’ve said that is indeed a Schwinn bicycle horn.
    R. I. P. Mark Adams (bass), Mark Hicks (lead/rhythm guitars), and Danny Webster (vocals, September 2020).

    THE JAM ...this is the song that put Slave on the map in 1977....Slave is one of my favorite funk bands of the 70s probally in my top 5....you knew a Slave song just by their unique bass guitar sound....they sound nothing like Parliament at all....best way to describe Slave is that they were New Jack Swing before anyone knew what that was...New Jack fused with rock, funk, r&b...great reaction

    I was 11 years old in 77. My cousin introduced me to this album along with all of the PFunk things that were happening. This was the first song I learned on bass. I was thrilled when I finally got it down after moving the record needle back and forth to try to catch the nuances. I'm so glad your channel is doing this man. Keep up the excellent work. Nobody, I mean nobody is reacting to what you react to, and I wish more would. but we got Just Jammin' bringing back great memories of production and musicianship on the Soul side. Thank you Brother.

    This was their very first hit. Pre Steve Arrington of the 80's. Steve Washington was the leader in 77 and he was from my HS in East Orange, NJ.... When Arrington took the lead they blew up on the R&B and Pop charts, but were still FUNKYYYY....

  • @cordellsenior9935
    @cordellsenior9935 3 роки тому +6

    The album cover is a nod to depictions and statues of the Greek titan/god, Atlas, who was condemned to carry the weight of the world (or the Heavens) on his shoulders. In this instance this very, very ripped brother on the cover represents an Atlas type character and that ball could represent the institution of slavery. Either way, Atlas is the inspiration. Slave was a hard-hitting funk band that had a good run (like every funk band of note, they had a superior bassist and this one had is own signature. He's got memorable bass lines throughout their library. I'm sure Slave has been heavily sampled; certainly their hits that followed this. No great or outstanding lead singer; they flat-out jammed. ANOTHER GEM OF A RECOMMENDATION FOR YOU: PLEASURE (songs, "Glide" and "Thoughts of Old Flames." - Trust.

I would say that Blacks have endured but that could stir up something. Slide is a combination of Rock, Funk and just feel Good music. Drac the guitarist Rest his Soul and Mark Adams. Drac on of the greatest guitarist of all time. I believe he also Influenced people I would imagine such as Vernon Reid of Living Colour. However, Black guitarist did not stop with Jimi Hendrix.
