For people that are operating computerized machines is hard to understand that there is and hand labour ! You see, world is not just computers ! Real world is hand working men, not for touching buttons or screens ! Perfect job, thank you for share it with us !
Excellent video!!! The Sawyer and his helpers are truly impressive as they show great respect towards this impressive tree. No rush, each slab handled with care, all hands aware of their jobs.
Yoshihiro, I appreciate your message of thanks. Here in the USA many of us fail to think of the tree as a beautiful living thing, for which there will never be another exactly like it. Once properly sawn and milled, it will serve others for many years. Such trees are really gifts to us all and should always be honored for what they give us.
I THINK IF YOU WERE TO MOUNT THE CAMERAS ON THE SAW LOOKING DIRECTLY AT THE LOG,WE COULD SEE THE WOOD BETTER, THAT GUY IN THE BLUE JACKET WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BLOCK EVERY SHOT!
Those who cry safety? Can’t go through log with guard on blade. Return side is shielded. Come on folks... Guys doing high level skilled work. They know what they’re doing.
Horse chestnut out here in Oregon is pure white. Not a very dense or workable wood. Stringy and splintery. The living tree is more valuable than its timber. The nuts somehow stave off joint ache. The Russian girls make a poultice of nuts and vodka that eliminates varicose veins. Their upright pink and white florets in spring are gorgeous.
at 4:20 it takes a special kind of stupid to reach between the fingers, rollers and the moving skate to pull out a piece of wood. I would not work in this barn for any amount of money. These guys have no common sense. I pulled green chain in Eureka CA for about 6 months in the early 1980's. It took 6 months for my hard head to decide I like my body parts to much. Watching these guys is just plain scary
I don't think that the government there believes it's their business to protect people from themselves. These fellows seem to know what they're doing as well as the dangers.
Just how it should be. Professionals don't need to be nannied by the law, and by that I mean insurance companies.Alll this health and safety legislation and the cost to the employer to implement it just eats into profitability. Teach 'em young and teach them right and keep the money in your pocket.
the MRS here... why do we have to destroy such beautiful trees? that one must have been 400 plus years old... never to be seen again--- no im not a tree huger... i just appreciate the wonder of nature
Russell - Or live in a cave. Is there no wood anywhere in your life? Walls, picture frames, nothing... Pretty sad existence if that is so. If you will notice, that is the remaining trunk of the tree. This is NOT going to waste.
As I understand it, this particular species of tree has a natural life of 150-250 years, 300 years max. It will have reached its natural end by the time this was felled. I completely agree with you that large (and small) living trees are beautiful, but they don't live for ever.
I am watching your old videos to see the nice wood that you cut!

Safety??
What's the point? You were cutting lovely wood, then ended the video!
Wasting people's time is not a good thing to do.
Great film, everyone looks whole to me!
Some beautiful gun wood.
what's the cost of one of those slabs?
Those who cry safety? Can’t go through log with guard on blade. Return side is shielded. Come on folks... Guys doing high level skilled work. They know what they’re doing.
Very heavy slabs.

Camera work needs help. Put the camera on a tripod and back far enough for us to see, if possible. Interesting, will make nice tables.
im no good cameraman
Beautiful wood
Too much camera movement.

O tronco da árvore é muito bonito; mas a filmagem é péssima.

Lovely lumber, but I'd prefer it without the potential RED staining...
The guy in the blue coat should be fired. He is an accident waiting to happen. It is just a matter of time.
He is the owner..
Camera man needs to invest in a tripod!
Yes
No osha's here.
The safety people have never been there and yet no one is limping and all can pick their noses with either hand.

When the wood is moved around it sounds as if it’s made of iron or steel
Why do you care??? You suckerz
Looks like Hands, Feet, Legs, Arms are expendable. That man on the platform near the blade is on borrowed time.

C'mon, he's wearing a useless dust mask.
Facts
Dangerous...say what you want, he's not not safety....why is it being cut on a vertical plain ?
Because it is a vertical mill.
