    Ayatollah Khomeini (and the current supreme leader of Iran) had no palaces or villas. He resided in a place that was rented for him. And his lifestyle was very simple, as an average, or below average person in Iran.

    Persians view Jews with high esteem. This stuff you see in the news is just politics. If you spoke to the people in Iran they have nothing bad to say. Jews have lived in Iran for a long time side by side Persians and other ethnic groups. People forget that Persia has always been, and still is a very diverse nation.

      obicapa
      This idea that jews were prosecuted in Iran is absolutely a fiction of western media’s imagination and a rhetoric. Did they panic and flee? Yes but so did many other Iranians. The reality is that this regime eliminated any Iranian of influence. While you mention on name or ten jewish names, I can name you hundreds and thousands non Jews. There are just over a million Iranians in US many have their properties and assets confiscated. Now, Iranians are Iranians and most of us really don’t care if the are jewish or Christian or Turk or Kurd, Fars, Blaooch etc.. Iranian nationalism unlike western nationalism is not about race or religion but rather cultural. So we look at Iranians in Israel and consider them Iranian not Israeli unless they no longer speak the language, enjoy the food, celebrate Norooz, the music, dance or the poetry any more. So long as they have that they are Iranian. As for the regime, well we have it because of US’s interference in our country. Because back in the 50s they overthrew our democratically elected government to install yet another despot. This was a US-British orchestrated coup. His father was installed by the British and before that the British forced Ghajar dynasty to kill two of our progressive ministers that could have transform Iran. So, we don’t want this regime, but we certainly don’t trust foreign forces a bit. In fact, most people would choose these bastards or a foreign occupier. All jews should sympathise with us as they don’t trust west neither this is why you have them everywhere by the balls. History taught you a lesson or two. As for those of you who feel not safe, well, think about it. Its a show and you know it. They will never ever invade Israel but their existence have helped you with US aid. If threat goes away so does US aid. And gradually, lobbies will become irrelevant and your children will be facing your historical tormentors again.

      1972 chitekwe - only because they speak Persian or Farsi that I referred to them as Persian Jews. Iran comprises of other ethnicities too, Turk, Kurd, Balooch, Arab,.... you see. Of course they are Iranian and remain so for as long as they stay culturally connected. But I sense a misunderstanding in your tone, assuming that we are ashamed of being Iranian. In fact, for at least 2000 years we called ourselves Iranian and proudly. Yes, we may be ashamed of our rulers, but less so now that Trump is around. It seems that at least on political stage we are now on level playing field.

      Exactly! The 'bowing' was not to Khomeini, but to God, during the muslim prayer. Khomeini never asked anyone to bow down to him, nor would he have punished anyone not bowing to him, and the rabbi, seems to be deliberately avoiding telling the people exactly who the Iranians were bowing to during the prayer, and painting him as the bad guy, and the Rabbi as the wise and strong one.
      Khomeini, despite not accepting Israel as a legitimate state, also never advocated hatred towards Jews, who still live in perfect peace and safety, practicing their religion, in Iran, the country with the second largest Jewish population in the Middle East.
      Iranians (and muslims in general through history) have treated Jews way better than anyone else. They are accepted as 'people of the book' by the Qur'an, and Moses as a great prophet. During the Ottoman empire, Jews travelled there from Europe, and sent letters to each other to come to the Ottoman Empire to live. After 1492, when the Catholics expelled the Jews (or forcibly converted them) in Spain, they fled to Muslim lands.
      Khomeini, despite not accepting Israel as a legitimate state, also never advocated hatred towards Jews, who still live in perfect peace and safety, practicing their religion, in Iran, the country with the second largest Jewish population in the Middle East.

  • @syednazmulahsan4748
    @syednazmulahsan4748 3 роки тому +7

    Salaam Rabbi. Thank you for the story and explaining the moral of it. You may want to consider two more morals of the story.
    As I heard why the Rabbi didn’t prostrate, that he could not bow to anyone except HaShem (the one God of the Torah) and that due to foreign language he could not tell who they’re bowing to, as a Muslim, I expected the Imam (leader), Khomeini, even an ordinary Muslim who must believe in the first tenet of Islam (la ilaha illa Allah - there’s no god but Allah (the one God of the Torah - and Qur’an) to respect, and embrace, the Rabbi not only for his courage to stand up (the moral you explain), but also because he himself would not have bowed to anyone except Allah (HaShem - literally, The Name).
    So a second moral of the story is as believers in the same one God in the Torah (and Qur’an),
    Jews and Muslims are first and foremost brothers in faith despite differences in nationality and language.
    A third moral of the story is, with regard to Khomeini allowing the Jewish citizens going outside during curfew, in Islam, it is a divine commandment from Allah (HaShem) and was a practice of his prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that everyone is free to practice his faith and the commandments of HaShem (Allah) is superior to any human law, including Iran or Khomeini’s.
    You may also want to consider Khomeini allowing the Jewish (rather than an Israeli) symbol on the cover of the Torah (and bag) from the perspective of these two additional morals - and the genuine love and respect every Muslim has for our Jewish brothers in Abrahamic faith.
    HaShem knows best. May Allah guide you and me. Shalom ❤️

      Why are you taking this man’s word as truth? First Imam Khomeini is a Muslim scholar, why would he make anyone bow to him or be confused as to why a Jew never bowed? Also Imam Khomeini never lived in a villa, he always lived a life of asceticism and this was well documented. Also there was no curfew during the war, especially where they shoot whoever comes out. This story also tells us an interesting detail: Before going to Iran, the rabbi from Mexico passes through New York and consults a rabbi, and it is none other than Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, leader of Chabad Luvabitch (a Tzaddik whom I had lucky enough to know him personally) known worldwide for his benevolence, his charitable deeds and his incredible abilities to perform miracles, because many months before Chanukah, he advises him to bring a Menorah or Chanukah candlestick.

    First: To my knowledge nobody bowed in front of Khomeini. Just go an look at news clips from those days. In Islam it is a sacrilege to bow to a human being, painting, stature or any other object. One only bows to Allah, i.e. the Almighty God. Second: Khomeini had two sons, one of whom was already dead when the Revolution happened, so it might have been "the son" of Khomeini. Third: There was no curfew during the Iran-Iraq war. Most likely the Jews needed a special permit for gathering. Therefore our dear Rabbi must have been misinformed. By the way, Rabbi Friedman is a great orator.

    Jews have lived in Iran for literally thousands of years, they also have lived in Muslim countries in peace and freedom, and they do so today. We do know things about Jews! There's no need for a rabbi to come from Mexico and teach us!
    There has never been a Friday prayer lead by Khomeini. All the Friday prayers in his time was lead by people appointed by him. We do not invite non-Muslims to Muslims' prayer! let alone expect them to bow like us!
    In the time of Iran-Iraq war there was no prohibition for people to come out at night.

Dont you think Khomeini didnt know if a jewish rabbi didnt bow (we call it rukuk and sujud). Non Muslim are not oboliged to pray with Muslim. Even Sean Pean once came to the Tehran University and observe the Friday Pray and he sat in a platform or box.

      Well, he also mentions the "Secretary General of the General Assembly of the UN" (really should be just "the Secretary General of the UN", not the "Secretary General of the General Assembly of the UN") and then says "I forgot his name". Maybe that was meant as a "yimakh shmo" because that was Kurt Waldheim then, who was in the Wehrmacht in Greece and probably knew of, or maybe even participated in, the liquidation of Greek Jewry.

    That just shows the sincerity and justice of Khomeini towards the Jewish people. Just a side note, when the Muslims bow in their prayers it is to Allah and only Allah (Name of God in Arabic). It is not to Khomeini! Khomeini and today’s Iran have much respect to the Jewish people living inside Iran 🇮🇷. Only thing about Shia Islam is that they will never accept to be humiliated. Reason why Israel’s only defeats in its military history was to the Shia Muslims. They strive and live in spirit the story of Imam Hussein who was martyred for refusing to kneel to the King Yazid at his time. To die on ones feet than to live on ones knees. To further say many men are slaves because one is an oppressor; let us hate the oppressor. Now, the Shia reverse this and say amongst their spiritual wisdom to reverse this judgment, and to say, One man is an oppressor because many are slaves; let us despise the slaves. Then one would say of the Shia Muslims “How impossible for them to be humiliated” Beautiful video 👍

    Moral of the story is not quite the way you wanted it to be Rabbi. This story proves that Khomeini respected religions. America tried to bully him and shot down a passenger plane killing everybody inside the plane. His answer to that was taking hostages. You made it sound like he went about taking hostages for no reason like a mad man. I didn't know this story before but now that I know it I'm so proud of him. Always try to find out why someone does something before making up a judgement.

    • @Kamadev888
      @Kamadev888 4 роки тому

      Exactly! the moral of the story is the Iranians (and muslims in general through history) have treated Jews way better than anyone else.
      The 'bowing' was not to Khomeini, but to God, during the muslim prayer. Khomeini never asked anyone to bow down to him, nor would he have punished anyone not bowing to him, and the rabbi, seems to be deliberately avoiding telling the people exactly who the Iranians were bowing to during the prayer. Khomeini, despite not accepting Israel as a legitimate state, also never advocated hatred towards Jews.

    I saw the picture of Ruhollah Khomeini on the wall of a Shiite friend's house for the first time. Khomeini was standing in the picture with one hand raised. I asked who is this Baba? He replied, "This is our Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Due to my age and lack of knowledge, I did not understand the word Leader of the Revolution. I just understood that he has a Maulvi." As time went on, when we stepped into our youth, we saw that the society was bound by sectarianism. We also fell prey to it. When we saw the picture of Khomeini, we were told that he was a Jewish agent, a Shiite. Is the enemy of islam etc. We also believed in the words of the mullahs in the guise of religion without any research. Then we wrote "Khomeini House" in the washrooms of mosques and madrassas, we even wrote bad words about Khomeini on the walls of the city. When Allah made us aware, the truth came out that the Khomeini we used to call infidels and polytheists. In fact, he was an old soldier on the way to Karbala, who learned to deny in the face of falsehood from Sultan Hurriyat Hussain Ibn Ali, who paid for the right to be the children of Venus, became stateless but did not bow before the oppressor, the world He proved that a person who becomes attached to Karbala sees nothing but righteousness. If you complain about the system of your country in front of an old man belonging to any sect, that old man will give the same answer: "This country needs a man like Khomeini."
    When he went to Tehran in 2011, he went to Khomeini's grave and apologized to him. Many ignorant young people like me will be misled and efforts will be made to keep Khomeini away from the idea of idol-breaking, but the truth is the truth, not people like me. They are also forced to say the same words that my childhood friend said: "Khomeini is our leader of the Islamic Revolution" June 3, the day of death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Supplication of Surah Al-Fatihah. Ali Asghar
