Hi Guys! This is probably my best Video so far. It is about the flight to Madeira Airport!
Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport, Madeira, commonly known as Madeira Airport (Portuguese: Aeroporto da Madeira) or Funchal Airport (Aeroporto do Funchal) or Saint Catherine Airport (Aeroporto de Santa Catarina) (IATA: FNC, ICAO: LPMA), is an international airport in the civil parish of Santa Cruz in the Portuguese archipelago and autonomous region of Madeira. The airport is located 13.2 km (8.2 mi) east-northeast of the regional capital, Funchal, after which it is sometimes informally named. It mostly hosts flights to European metropolitan destinations due to Madeira's importance as a leisure destination, and is pivotal in the movement of cargo in and out of the archipelago of Madeira. It is the fourth-busiest airport in Portugal. The airport is named after Madeiran football player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Vertical speed got a little aggressive I think at the end but smoothed out just as quick! I like it! That was a fun landing.

I don't think I've ever seen that much control-input on a heavy jet as I saw with this one while it was on final just before touch-down to Madeira, this was impressive to say the least. You had mentioned that there was turbulence and wind factors, wow that's an understatement. I can imagine that Madeira is no doubt one of the most challenging of airports to land at. This was a excellent video! Thank You!

Well I see traffic is just as crazy and nightmarish in your country as it is in mine. Nothing like having to get out and hoof it in a hurry to get there on time. LOL!!! Great video Denys! :) A friend of mine flew to Madeira recently and they couldn't land due to weather and had to return to Lisbon. Also other flights on that day got cancelled. So I guess you got lucky with the weather!

Good video, my friend, but you forgot to mention THE waypoint for a successful Madeira visual approach: The ice producing facility; even marked on your Jeppeson map as "GELO" (09:00).
Similar to Kai Tak with its IGS approach and checker board, one is here heading towards GELO and then performing a right turn towards RWY 05.

This really shows what flying to Funchal/Madeira is like. Only a limited amount of pilots are allowed to fly here.
Just need to pass the flight simulator training to fly there.

We were there twice on vacation.1. we flew the Travel service 737(now smartwings), another time easyjet 320. Hard landing was both, I laughed a lot, but my wife said we wouldn't go there anymore :)
Just for some more info; most of jets vacate via Bravo when using rwy 05, but they have to touch down quite early. Continue the lovely videos!

ps very sad about facts that you report on during the video about the fatal crash. At least aviation catastrophes are never in vain and are definitely learned from, to the very safe transportation types that we see today across the world.

The phrase that rang in my head watching the approach to FNC was, "Kai Tak Heart Attack." The difference being that you have decision height at FNC. At the old HKG I don't think the approach allowed for that.
A very challenging landing, the Captain flying it did an excellent job. This must have been about 15 hours duty time for the day?
