Amazing choice and really insightful reaction! Would love to see more Aphex Twin, whether it's more ambient works like this or the more constructed/arranged tracks that range from beautiful and melancholic, to downright disturbing!

I like how you don’t necessarily follow reviewer trends. It could be the new Carti one day, old Nas the next, and some wildcard Cocteau Twins or Aphex Twin. And everything you get into, I see surface songs and deeper ones as well. Keep being the most versatile reaction group.🎉 Dad always is sharp with the analysis but Kai is the boss of this operation.

For real, dropping some AFX for Dad was a good change of pace. If they do any others from this album, it should be one of the darker ones, like #10 (Tree) or the last track (Matchsticks)

Liked your guys' thoughts on it. It is very contemplative (I typed that just as you said it allows you to contemplate). For me it stirs up feelings that words fail to fully express, but basically "life is utterly bizarre and confusing and bittersweet...but everything will be ok, try to relax and enjoy it and appreciate the love surrounding you before it's all over". Utterly fascinating how a piece without lyrics can stir up similar thoughts and emotions in so many disparate people huh.

Great video. Love watching you guys. I just have a suggestion for an 'Ambient' song you and your pops might want to check out. "Radio Right Now" by Felix Laband.
Along with "#3" by Aphex Twin and something from Boards Of Canada such as "In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country", I'd consider it one of the greatest 'Ambient' songs ever made. It's incredible.

    🌿🌴🌲🌿🌴🌲🌿🌴🌲🌿🌴🌲🌿🥀🌿🌴🌲🌿🌴🌲🌿🌴🌲🌿🌴🌲🌿
I've enjoyed the reactions I've clicked on randomly over time with you two
    so I'll sub while I'm here ...
You have the kind of father / son relationship I wish I'd had with my dad
But we were both 1. very different in world view / interests
and 2. across the country from each other most of my life ...
You mentioned this song reminded you of death ...
That reminded me of something I wrote a few days ago
Regarding visiting my dad in Nashville at the beginning of April 2024
    I'm 55 years old my dad was 85 :
" So often I find value is given to the reality of what a relationship IS
by HOW the other person approaches it ...
It defines it for me .
In life I had so little in common with my dad . ( Him : military vet / sports / hunting / fishing / conservative politics )
We didn't live close physically and didn't have a close relationship as some father / sons do.
I last saw my dad in person at my sister's funeral in 2016 when he was still fully himself .
After my dad's wife died of cancer , he mentally deteriorated to where living alone was becoming dangerous , so
Three years ago I visited the Alzheimer's home where he was placed by his caregiver ; my step sister .
Placing ME into a visiting room the nurse went off to fetch him and bring him in .
As he had broken his hip a year or so previous he walked in very small steps back and forth ....
miniscule steps slowly trodding forward ... ~ He approached the table where I was sitting ...
He looked at me / recognized me and made a surprised burst of emotion . so glad to see me ...
At that moment I got a sense that he didn't imagine he would ever see me again . ~ As I live on the other side of the country .
That visit I imagined it would be the last time I saw him as few to several years would pass between visits
and he was over 80 yeas old
More recently he had broken his hip for the second time and it was not surgically fixable .
So strong pain meds were given ; which often causes rapid deterioration in older men .
He developed pneumonia . and hospice care was soon initiated .
That's when my step sister messaged me that I may want to visit as it wasn't looking good.
I took off work for a week and bought a plane ticket for the next day ...
The day I arrived he was very frail ; I remember thinking his body looked like he was about to be buried ...
That's how close to death he was.
During my visit the nurse got him to consciousness and to open his squinting eyes ; she said :" for you " to me ...
I walked over into his line of sight and said ": Hi dad " ...
And I saw that slight glimmer of delighted recognition he gave me three years ago .
THIS was all I wanted . For him to know I was there .
The next morning when we arrived his body was forcibly breathing fast ; I noted his cheeks were even rosy red
deceivingly healthy looking compared to his pallor the day before
It was actually from his body overworking / unable to get oxygen to his lungs ... he was in the end stages
He took less and less frequent breaths ... for about an hour
until realizing absolute stillness and quiet
    I said to my stepsister
    " I think he's in the light now "
I'll treasure that time with him forever.
Our commonality was now me being WITH him as he faced death without fear .
    Can't get closer than that . ".
